Kind of brings back memories...both of my attitude in high school, and from the other side of the fence...as a graduate teaching assistant, I used to have to grade papers as well. Sometimes I'd get these one sentence responses to essay questions and think 'WHAT???' I think sometimes the students put ANYTHING down thinking they might get partial credit. The thing that would kill me is after they got their papers back, they'd come find me and complain that they should've at least gotten partial credit on their answer...uh, no. I lived in Indianapolis 96-99 and IF a storm was expected to drop more than 3" of snow, the day before they would cancel school. I grew up in the Northern NY snowbelt region, I loved winter as a kid and young adult. But when I had to shovel snow off of the roof of the house I bought with a shallow pitch, I was ready to leave! 8 years of FL bliss (no snow) and loving it. Dee you missed out, should have moved here before '02 when the big boom started. I would move if I had to just so I could take my winning now! Snow = yuk. I wish I'd moved to FL before '02, too. Oh well. Maybe NC will have a boom too. |

I biked last night. Afterwards, I realized that I really needed to hit the treadmill instead. So what happened? Um, well, I got online and then it was 11 PM. And so.... On tap for tonight --> Treadmill run. But I think I can hit all my goals. Provided I head straight to the gym after work and do NOT play on BT until I'm done. LOL |

Could that have been spurred by the rebuilding of Andrew's rath? Been through many a hurricanes, don't know that I ever want to live in the sub-tropics again for that reason. BTW GOOD MORNIN' NIBBS.... Well, I'm off to the mtn. for my non-skiing ski meeting. At least I got coffee Nope, FL lagged behind the national real estate values when I got here, then it what BANG and went past it. A lot of it is due to places like the NE where they had they boom earlier, people moved here with lots of $ and drove the prices up while building was lagging, simple supply and demand. BTW, FL is now in the top 3 in foreclosures and values have dropped at least 10% in the past year. I love the weather here but dislike the state itself. It created a Tax class of have and have not's when the morons instituted a 'homestead act' in the early 90's, 3% cap change per year unless you buy a house then its established at current market values. The taxes on my house were $1500 until my pool was assessed and now its $200. My neighbors (same house style & square ft) is paying $3200, they bought at the peak of the boom 2 years ago, they just put in a pool, sucks to be them! |
