left.right.repeat - 2012-02-11 9:38 AM The wind chill was 11 at the start of the Hot Chocolate Run - your leader WIMPED out and ran the 5k instead of the 15k. It was f-ing cold.

Major props to Briana and Patrick for gutting it up and running the 15k. They are racing right now and I am in a warm building drinking hot chocolate waiting for them.

Go Briana Go!
Go Patrick Go!
YOU TWO ROCK!!!

Kudos to all three of you.  I would have skipped the 15k, and the 5k too, and went straight for the hot chocolate. I am a big wimp when it comes to cold weather.

gardner77 - 2012-02-11 5:27 AM Hey everyone it's John from upstate new york. The weight loss for my first tri season is going well. A few minor setbacks but I am happy overall. It has been a great winter for running outside in NY!! Completed a 5k with my wife last weekend, her first. She made me promise I wouldn't beat her so we stayed together the whole time. I told her we should hold hands crossing the finish line. When I put my hand out she slapped it away and sprinted to beat me!! ah, newlyweds. Work and the baby have been taking up most of my time recently, but I have read through a lot of the old posts. Don't worry veterans when it comes closer I will have a ton of questions.

Good job getting anything done with a new baby!! congrats on weight and 5k..

Run done.  Did 4.26 cuz I missed my swim this morning!!  Alarm issues. Thought I got up 10 minutes before the alarm when actually it was an hour and half later.  Not sure what happened. Guess I needed the sleep. I think it was for the best.

I hope Maria and Suzie are ok.  Getting those first two miles in is not easy.

Well done to the racers. Very impressive Pam!!  I guess our finish line is growing...

Winter has come.  I had to run at the gym, 30 degress plus a cold wind. Be well all. Hitting the shower and then food!!

Warmly,

Hey John,  I'm on Long Island. Congrats on the baby and to your wife for getting out there. I'm trying to motivate my spouse, he is actually on the eliptical (sp?)as we speak!!  Yeah!!  Hope I can get him to do a 5k this year.  Where in NY are you?

I had a great marathon this morning despite the extremes cold and wind ts morning. A race report will come later. I thought of all of you several times this morning thinking how far we have all come in just a short period of time. I was going to run with you all but instead it will was a memorial run as I have nothing left in me. In fact I should be laying down with ice on my hamstring but instead I am going out with a girlfriend for dinner while I am here in Jacksonville.More from me later.

DID IT!  Warmup at 11:30 a.m. for about 3/4 mile - then 1 mile at about a 12min 30 second pace, walked a few minutes and ran another half.  Walked a few more minutes (expertly timed this to conicide with the hill) and ran another half.  Felt all of your support pushing me along.  Looking forward to bragging to my friends..."I've got a three mile run planned next Sunday" Tee hee hee.

I'm a big wimp when it comes to cold as well, but it's all about LAYERS!!!!  I ran with a garbage bag over me the first mile (helps block the wind and you don't feel guilty throwing it away) and then warmed up.  I think my body was numb when I started and then I just wanted to get done and get warm.  I negative split the race!!!!  Each 5k was faster than the one before it.

Way to go Suzie on your run Sunday!!!  I ran 4 miles Sunday morning, but had to do them early as I was back at the volleyball courts in the afternoon.

Great job.  Way to nail it.   I consider walking the hill an excellent choice.  Leaves more for the rest of the run. 3 miles here you come. Keep us posted. Cool

Love the picture LRR!!
