Okay, gonna vent for a minute.  My daughter had a retreat at church today from 1-4 for 1st communion stuff.  The parents were required to be there.  So, we get there and the kids practice for an hour (boring) and then we go to do this major craft project.  It involves gluing a lot of felt pieces.  Well the blasted Elmer's glue of course doesn't work so the parents get roped into using the glue gun.  (anyone see where this is going?)  After a bit, I pick up the gun to glue on the last few pieces of the project and proceed to burn the living crap out of my finger.  The tip of my left index finger is blistered beyond belief.  It hurts like crazy.  It was all I could do not to let the four letter words fly in front of all these little kids at church! I'm majorly annoyed at the entire situation.  Stupid project, stupid me for burning myself.  I have no desire to run now and just want to chop off my finger.  Cause that would help, right?

MORNIN' X-MEN.

thanks for all your race day well-wishes.  you guys ROCK!!!

official race results were posted.

1:25:09

a SOLID 5TH OUT OF 10 PLACE FINISH (in my age group)

10:25 swim, 45:28 bike and a 29:16 run.

the swim time seems odd to me (i was hitting solid 1:50 100s in trng) im wondering if that time included the T1 time (there werent T times posted seperately)

there was a LONG walk/run out of the pool to the transition area.

who knows?

all in all, not bad considering it was my very first tri,

and the fact i was holding back just a tad.

when i woke up sunday morning my foot was a bit cranky, all tingly in fact.  history has proven tingly proceeds PAIN.

so  i had a sit down w myself to discuss what needed to be done.

this tri was an individual event, and next weekend i have a team of three other people counting on me to do my best for my relay leg.

i knew if i went all out i ran the risk of irritating my foot to the point where i might not be able to run this coming weekend.  i could recover, but how quickly????  not so sure.

so.....i decided to dial it back for this race.  which was OK considering the fact that in the scheme this was a B-race, important, but not enough to put on the line and risk some.

decision made, i gladly took one for the team,

BUT and this is what im SO jazzed about, considering that fact, i did phenomenally well [if i do say so myself]

to think that i have more to 'put out' and have a chance to do even better is so EXHILIRATING!

my eyes are set on MAY 17TH AND MY FULL SPRINT.

see what this girl can REALLY do.

weee heeee for me!

MORNIN' EVERYONE.

had a horrible nights sleep. not sure what was up.  kept waking up.  ah well....

best laid plans though, i planned to go and swim w the MAAAH-STERS this morning, but i thought it best to rest than to try and go on a little bit of sleep.

there will be other days to swim w the WAVE.

i am scheduled to get in the water today.  im SO looking forward to it.  a swim just sounds heavenly.

has anyone found that they are more sore TWO DAYS after an event the first day after one?

its not that bad.  i feel surprisingly well considering all that i did on Sunday (TRIs certainly work your entire body.....)

so....its a recover/taper week....and onto my MARATHON RELAY LEG ON SUNDAY.

its SUCH a thrill to be in a city where a marathon is being held.  theres SUCH a buzz in the air.  everyone i run into is either running the race or knows someone running.

this is a return year of the marathon here in PGH so i think thats part of whats making it so 'special'.

well, im off to finish off the laundry (yes it took me 2 days!!! yikes.  my house goes to pot race weeks....)

and then im off to the Y.  i wish i had a heated outdoor pool.  ahhhhhhhh.....

the lap pool will have to do.  sigh.

WHAT ARE YOU ALL UP TO TODAY????   can you believe were almost at the very end of our challenge.  boy that time went quick!

HAPPY RUNNING/CYCLING/SWIMMING/RESTING.
