Three days without running and my leg felt good so went into the rec center this morning for a run 7 miles in a little less than an hour.  The run felt good, took a shower, headed for the post office and then my stomach gets upset.  I am not sure but I think I am blaming the 'cheese and peanutbutter crackers'(stupid stupid stupid) I had for breakfast.  Some antacid and after everything evened out some chicken noodle soup.  Feeling human again!

But 7 miles is a new long run for me Smile

If 7 miles is your longest run and you did it in under an hour you are doing really good that is a quick pace.  Congrats on the new destance..

Starting to get sick. No gas in the tank this morning. Usually run after spin then to an hour long WP&G class. Just walked on the treadnill for 10 min to cool down and called it a day.

Happy Valentines Day everyone.  Flowers, artisain chocolates, a card....no please a woman that is 7.5 months pregnant.  None the less, I'm stuggling today and definitely coming down with something.  Getting on a plane Tuesday monring to L.A. for work.  Not much worse than flying with a head cold. Well hope everyone has a great day.

Hey everyone! Loving the running updates and it sounds like everyone is progressing well! Winter is tough for staying motivated and staying healthy. My wife has been struggling for a week with a bad chest cold.I've been lucky enough to avoid any major illness thankfully. If you are struggling staying motivated I find that working out with friends and family is a great way to keep moving. I know that many times I wouldn't get to the gym if it wouldn't be for my good friends and my coach Nicki.Did my longest run today in a while. 9 miles...and then some lower body lifting. Phil

This morning's workout kind of stunk.  The roads around here aren't safe to run on when there's any traffic out. and I couldn't drag myself out of bed early enough to beat the traffic this morning, so I ended up going to the gym to try to slog out 14 miles on the treadmill.  That didn't work.  After an hour on the treadmill, I joined the "bloody elevens" club and decided to pack it in.  Tomorrow morning bright and early I'll either get outside for a run or head to the gym early.  Either way, there will be proper nipple prophylaxis in place.  That was a fun shower.

I was starting to have the same problem on long weekend runs and got a stick of Body Glide and used it today NO Problem... Hopefully it will keep working.

It warmed up really nice today mid to low 60's partly cloudy light breeze. At 11:30 I did 6 miles at a easy 145 BPM 12:30 pace and finished feeling great.  HR keeps getting lower at same paces so clear indication of improving fitness.

Really looking forward to next Saturdays 5k My 6 yearold son ask me if we are running the marathon LOL and then told me that me and him need to run 100 miles when he gets big.  So a week before his 2nd 1mile event he is ready for a 100 miles Kids are great...

Have a great weekend all.

I started using vaseline and it worked really great, but it would stain my shirt - so I would have two greasy spots on my shirt which was just a little weird.  Does the body glide stain?  How is its staying power?  Right now I use athletic tape, which usually works fine, but I'm a hairy guy, so I have to grit my teeth at the end of a run when I take it off.  Ow.

Nipple chafe...

Do you wear a technical shirt...I find these great.  Cotton is terrible & could be the culprit.  BodyGlide has not stained, but I don't use, if I have a tech shirt.  I have a number of these, but find Nike & Under Armor work equally well.  If I have a "race shirt", I will wear a tech shirt underneath, because of the fear of the nipple massacre!

My experience with this dreaded condition... Yell

No stain with the body glide It stayed on fine for a hour run and the only type of shirts I wear on a run is the Tech shirts.  Even the tech shirts do this to me after about 5 miles of course it is hot and humid as hell here too.   After most runs Im soaked from head to toe.

Congrats Kristen....   I wish you luck. I have been with my wife since 10th grade in high school.  23 years of marriage so far....  She puts up with a lot..  Haha

Had a nice short run on Friday afternoon after swimming in the morning.  I was suppose to do a spin class on Saturday but the Georgia snow closed the gym so I ended up with a nice long ride on my stationary bike in the basement.  Today, I ran 7.0 miles on the treadmill in zone 2.  That was somewhat boring as I can run about 4.5 mph and keep my HR under 133..   Nice run.  Big sweat and I did what I was suppose to do.  Nice run and my legs are feeling fine...

Hope you guys had a nice weekend and lets all keep it going.  Sounds like a lot of people here are doing well.

The great thing is, we are going to get snow again tomorrow.  Whatever!!!!!!!

GoGoGo - 2010-02-13 7:59 PM Congratulations, What month is the big date?May 14, 2011. I'm really ahead of time, but I got a great discount and it's kind of difficult to plan the wedding in south Jersey when it will be in North Jersey, so I'm trying to get things out of the way. And besides, the time I should be looking for dresses (12-9 months before) is tri season, I obviously have to have my priorities straight :P

Oh, I've been there....body glide works well...and I've also made sure I've ditched the workout shirts that have caused the problem.....

Went to the gym tonight to either do a spin class or get in 90 mins on teh spin bike. My program called for 25 miles on the road bike but our weather sucked again today so the gym it is. I got there 30 mins before the spin class started and all the bikes were taken. Sucked !!!!!!

So, it was either go home or the stationary bike. I hit the stationary bike (Life fitness) for 90 mins on a interval program. Kicked it up for me. 30 total miles in 90 mins. I tried to keep a 100 rpm pace the entire ride... I did for most of it. Still managed 20mph... Proud of that...

But I must say. I have not ridden an stationary bike (with that big wide seat) in a while. I have either been riding my road bike or the spin bike which both have the narrow seat. My and inside of my legs are sore. Not rubbing sore but muscle sore. I guess the wide seat gives me a different riding position and my legs don't work at the same angle. OUCH!!!!!!! Wont do that again....

For the rubbing issues you are all talking about. I have not had any. I have been using the Chamois Butt'r for certain areas on the bike ride and nothing on the nips for the run... I wear mostly Nike or Under Armor T-shirts and have not had any rubbing issues..

Nothing special for me yesterday. My wife had to work all day so just dinner and sleep. Haha..

You guys have a nice night. I have a early morning pool call to be ready for

Must have been sore butt day because I did and hour on my spin bike and had pain issues.  I need to get a different seat for that thing or a gell cover cause any thing over about 30 minuits and my rear is killing me.

Salmon and chocolate - curious combination.

Try this:  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/salmon-fillet-en-papillote-with-julienne-vegetable-recipe/index.html  its absolutely delicious, looks great and is super simple to make, nukes in under 5 minutes.  (I used freezer paper instead of parchment paper)
