I made the beef and broccoli in the crock pot(From the 365 website) it was YUMMY! For a tri website...we sure do talk alot about food.

SECOND page is completly UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

I had a double session today. PT in am and Chiro in PM. Going back to PT in am tommorow amd Chiro Sat. MY personal goal is to be able to bend without pain by Sun and go swimming. They said I could walk in the water...but really who wants to do that????

Glad to hear you are better SUzie.

Where Kevin and I are not training we shall keep watch over the thread and make sure it doesnt go to the second page again!!!!!

Mojo11 - 2010-01-07 5:54 AM Oh...speaking of lobster claws! These I got dirt cheap at an industrial supply place........ ridiculous? Yes. Practical?? Yep!

Very Nice - those look like they could be used to pull your dinner out of the oven as well - I like 'em!!
Ran this morning at 5 am with a friend of mine that is recovering from knee surgery.  We use to run a lot of
5Ks together and were very competitive, now we are both recovering from injuries and hobbling around the lake.  It was a great run though - we averaged a slow 8:15 mile and had a good chat along the way.  It was nice to run with someone - It took my mind off of my leg and it didnt bother me at all!!  We did 3 miles together and then I did another 2 solo - great morning even if it was 28 degrees.

I guess it's all in the perspective.  An 8:15 mile would be absolute top speed for me! Laughing

I everyone...

Just quick drop-in tonight.  I got a puppy yesterday!  Wasn't planning on it at all and it wasn't the one I was thinking about adopting.  She was going back to the animal shelter for adoption.  Her foster dad decided not to keep her.  She was just too cute to send back.  With those big paws of hers, she's going to make a great running companion.  Will try to post pictures soon (once I figure it out).

Will try to catch up with the posts later this week.  How is Marianne?

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PUPPIES I have been doing alot of thinking about  getting a puppy. Please post pics ( I can never figure it out on this website)

I am better. SItting and standing...pain only when I bend. Its progress!

This has got to be one of the longest threads I've ever seen that had a lot of blank in it.  There has to be a special reward that Ms. Mentor can give to this.

8:15 mile... at my current training speed that's light speed.

Great run Mike.

Lisa... maybe we should run together some time... we'd make all the other runners feel better by showing them how fast they REALLY are. LOL

Right now.  I like the slower pace.  Moving too fast right now greatly increases the wind chill factor..  The legs feel real stiff; even with thermal tights and wind pants.   And, the nose hates the cold right now.  But...it's better than sitting in the chair.

Tried a new crockpot recipe for breakfast

1/4 c. walnuts
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. chopped apple
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp honey
2 c. milk
1/4 tsp salt
rolled oats--can't remember right now how much

put all in crockpot, cook on low for 6 to 8 hours

before serving, mix in 1/2 c fat free half and half

Very tasty!

On a training note, I am having a hard time getting motivated. Been like this for a couple months. Pretty much since after my first century ride (nov 21). Thought I would get out of it at start of year. Thought maybe I just needed a break from training for a bit. I can think of a lot of excuses like I have been working every late every nite. Have a new kitten and trying to adjust my three huge dogs to him has been extremely stressful and time consuming. But those are just excuses. I know i am gonna be so mad in a month. I will be starting a 3 month trial and will lose a lot of free time. I will be mad at myself for wasting all of this time in january doing nothing!!!

Have a 5 mile run planned tomorrow, a hike on saturday, and 50 mile ride on Sunday. We will see how it goes. Missed a bike and run and swim already this week just needed to vent. thanks!

Managed a leisurely bike ride this morning in the cold.  Didnt make it the full 1:20 as planned due to my toes going numb after 12 miles.  I think I need to get my own pair of wool socks - the ones I stole from my wife didnt work so well.
We worked out together last night in the garage - she had us mainly focusing on some core exercises and back.  I think I might try a short run tomorrow am and take the rest of the day off.  I tweaked my back slightly this am playing with my daughter - nothing serious but dont want it to get worse.
BTW - I think I'm on track for the challenge.

I bought the rice to make the breakfast recipe.  Then thought when do I make this.  Are you making it right before you go to bed, so it's ready when you wake up, or do you make it during the day and then reheat?

I get to go to the pool today.  I won't be swimming though.  My third grade class has their first day of lessons.  This should be interesting.  They are very concerned about the chance of seeing old people changing in the locker room.

Has anyone ever tried a weighted hula hoop.  I bought one and tried it the last couple of days.  Thought the core work would be good for swimming and I'm trying to get abs like Helens.  I'm not feeling any effects.  Hoping it wasn't a waste of money.

Happy Friday,
Kelly

I've gotten used to seeing those yellow squares in my calendar. I've given up adding the red outline, because that's just depressing.

I'm working on the challenge... I have 20% of my swimming goal done in 2 swims... and 12% of the bike down... but I'll be putting in at least 2 hours tomorrow on the bike, so that will up that total.

If only I could get out and run. (patience Kevin... patience)

Patience is a virtue which I do not have...I'm going to try swimming. No one said not to...but I didnt ask.

Kevin I have no doubt you will get your part of the IM challenge done

Thats hysterical about seeing old folk in the locker room!!!!

Never tried a weighted hula hoop, it sounds interesting. Getting abs like Helens is virtually impossible for 99% of the population...but we can keep on trying

I am going to try thr breakfast recipe overnite...the prob is my husband is traveling for 2 weeks and I will end up eating it by myself. SOunds like I will be re heating too

I"ve got the swim done this week,   tonight will be biking on the rollers,   I'm too much of a wuss anymore to run when it's this cold in texas.   It's low teens, with wind chill it's right about zero.   I realize this is summer weather to my neighbors to the north and all but...  I'm a wuss
