wgraves7582 - 2010-05-27 6:14 AM Women are catching up in posts and % men!

I'm sitting at 158 of 170km (~93%) running for the month.  I should have no troubles getting above that in the next few days.

6.5k on tap for tonight, 8k trail run Sat and 12 - 16k on Sunday.

No AM workout.  Yesterday was a pretty busy day... morning bike, lunchtime swim, evening softball coaching, nighttime swim with the kids.  Pretty sore & tired today, so I decided to shut it down until the race on Saturday.  Looking forward to a 3-day weekend!

billsorg - 2010-05-26 1:26 PM Got my lunchtime swim in... a full mile in the wetsuit.  In the 3 years I've been going to this Y, this is the first time I've had to wait for a swim lane.  That'll teach me for trying to get over there early...  Everyone else had the same idea!

Bill - how was it in the wetsuit.  Our water is warm enough and I think the suit would kill me!

The suit felt pretty good... a little restrictive in the shoulders, but that's par for the course.  I got hot swimming in the Y pool with the suit on... they keep the pool at about 84 degrees.  I don't own a full suit, just 2 sleeveless suits, so my arms and face will really be feeling the cold water on Saturday.  But all-in-all the swim felt good and I'm ready to roll!

Wow guys, the ladies are starting to catch up with us on the post count. We used to have a lead of over 50 and now its down to less than 30. We going to have to watch it or they might catch up to us this weekend.

They were also talking about cleaning up the ranks of those that appear to have dropped out, have (with approval) adjusted their goals due to sickness and injury, and are pushing to get in extra workouts. Our comfortable lead isn't quite so comfortable any more.

Yes I noticed that earlier and I gave approval for the clean ups.

we shall still see their legs

Well, what's good for the goose is good for the gander... Bill, I believe we have more men on the spreadsheet than I've seen posting here... are we all "cleaned up" with regard to removing guys that decided not to participate?

wgraves7582 - 2010-05-27 4:33 PM A little story about the engine being more important than the machine:

My buddy Todd and I were tour practicing - what does that mean - it means about 14-15 mph max.  We get passed by 2 litespeeds (about $4K each) on a flat stretch and I see them turn up a hill that I take to head home sometimes.  Todd broke off to see his mom and I turned and told him I was going to catch them to make them look bad.  It was a joke!!!

I catch them about 1/2 way up the hill on my Iowa steel touring bike.  I had my IPod on but I heard one of them saying something about my single up front.  I stayed in front up the whole 2 mile hill but they passed me on the downhill - which was fine.

So it is not always about the machine people.

Way to go Bill.

I'm going to come up short on the run goal.  My planned 5 miler stopped at 3 as my right arch started to feel a little sore.  It's just not worth it to me right now to risk getting PF, so I'm cancelling running for the rest of the month.  I'll get way over my swim and bike goals, and my race goals is at 100%, so I'll likely be around 96.5% for the month.

I'll try to resume running on Tuesday...at a slightly slower pace and re-evaluate from there.

Paul, shhhh....  Let them think they are closing in, then we will hit them with the big numbers from over the weekend.

Litespeed, aka Lynskey Titanium, correct?

Solid work!

Smart move.  Well, unless I have to post my legs on my avatar!

I'm probably going to be about the same.  I should hit 100 + percent on the bike and run, but swimming is looking a short going into the weekend.  I just haven't been motivated to swim in the pool lately.

Sounds like you are playing it smart.  I'd hate to see someone get injured for the sake of a challenge.  Still some solid numbers for you this month.  Nice work!

I had nice long run last night that pushed me over my run goal for the month.  I should be able to max that out with a another run this weekend.  I'll wrap up my swim goal tonight and will hopefully get in a long ride or two to reach my biking goal.  We're supposed to have great weather for the holiday weekend!

Bill, tsk! tsk! riding with the iPod on.  Need to be keenly aware of those surroundings... we don't want our King of Posting to get hurt out on the road!  Now I'm off my soapbox... well done!

It's race eve... yeee haaaa!  I got all packed up last night.  Leaving work at 1.  My mom and M-I-L are watching the kids so my wife and I can head to the Jersey shore this afternoon.  We'll pick up my race packet and then have a nice walk on the beach.  I'll dip my toes into the frosty cold water to see what I'll be in for tomorrow (it's funny... 24 hours from right now it'll all be over).  Then we're going out for a seafood dinner and we're staying in a dumpy, little motel (but it's clean) about 5 miles from the site of the tri.  So not only to I get to race, but I get a little romantic date night out of it as well!  What a perfect start to the holiday weekend!
