I think I have bronchitis - on antibiotics and prednisone. Not sure how much more of my goals will get done this month. Bleh! I hated being on prednisone! Ew ew ew. Well, there's no penalty for not reaching your goals this month, except that you make the Slacker list. Do I get less tasing for being a slacker if I'm sick? Well... How about we wait until you're feeling better and then we give you your tasings? How does that sound? With Dee, you don't even have to be on the slacker list to get tased. All you have to do is not be on your toes when you're around her. If that's what you have to do... |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: July non TdF challenge My group run was canceled yesterday due to storms and lightning. I was going to run today instead, but my alarm didn't go off. I got a new phone, and I didn't realize I set my 5am wake-up to Sat only, so it didn't go off today even though it was set I think I will just skip the run completely since I was on the fence anyway about how long to take for my HIM recovery period. |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: July non TdF challenge I finally got another workout in. Just a short bike ride compared to what you folks do. Going to be a busy week. I hope I am able to get all my work and workouts done. Ultrathon in less than 3 weeks. I hope it isn't so darn hot. |

Expert 1246 West Grove, PA | Subject: RE: July non TdF challenge Happy Monday, teammates. Got a 35 mile ride and some swimming in over the weekend. In order to hit my goals, I need 1 more swim, 1 more bike and (gulp) 4 more runs. It's going to come down to the wire! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I watched part of IM Lake Placid online yesterday. I'm toying with the idea of signing up for that bad boy in 2011. I just can't seem to commit to it in my head... maybe that's a sign that I shouldn't do it... decisions... decisions... |

But I told myself I want to be stronger, especially on the bike, before committing to an IM. Though I feel like I might start getting IM envy in Sept when my tri club goes up to Madison to volunteer at IMoo & cheer on club members. So of course that means since we're up there volunteering, anyone who wants to gets dibs on registration for next year |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: July non TdF challenge Ok, so I totally didn't do anything this weekend because I was busy being a slacker recovering from my HIM. I did have brunch at a pretty cool brew pub yesterday and am planning on going back again next Saturday. Too bad I didn't have a beer goal for this month because I would totally be right on track! |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: July non TdF challenge I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was a holiday weekend here in Utah so we were pretty busy. It was basically our founders day to celebrate when Utah was settled. I went for a great ride Saturday. I rode around the lake (57 miles) while everyone else was playing in the water. It was still disappointing that I couldn't do an ows swim since I cut my head open last week. The ride went well though. I do have a question for everyone though. When you go for your long rides, what do you do nutrition wise? I did ok but I couldn't really eat anything to keep my strength up and I was really starting to feel it the last few miles of the ride. I need to find something that is easy to eat and easy to digest. I say easy to eat because the only time I really got winded on the ride is when I was eating and couldn't breathe through my mouth. Any suggestions? |

Any suggestions? Glad you had a good weekend, even though you had to forgo your swim! As for nutrition on the bike, I've been going with HEED (sports drink) and Accel Gel (which is the gel I used for marathon training). Though on supported rides where they have rest stops, I can't resist pb&j sandwiches, cookies, bananas, etc that they provide. Actually, I'm a big fan of pb&j sandwiches & bananas before all my races; sometimes I'll do a variation, like almond butter w/a bagel or something like that... but that's usually BEFORE long runs/rides/races or if I'm stopping to rest; on the actual bike ride I stick with Heed and gels. I'm a fan of keeping my nutrition liquid while riding because it's just easier for me to take in. Since I have to drink water to stay hydrated anyways, it's like a one shot thing to have your nutrition in there as well. Now that my A-race is over, I was thinking of experimenting with Infinit or Perpetuem to see if I can switch to all-liquid nutrition on my rides because eating solids gets kind of cumbersome! |

Dee made it so there's no limit for your goals, so maybe you can just go over 100% for one of your other goals to make up for not being able to swim? |
