Subject: RE: SBR Endurance Group - CLOSEDMy diet is the biggest thing I watch before a big race, during my tapper. I stack on good carbs (lots of greens) building through the week. No simple sugars and limit wine intake ;o). The day before I load more simple carbs like breads, potato, pasta, and/or rice. But only in small amounts throughout the day, no "big carb meal" before bed. I also drank 128 oz of Gatorade the day prior to my last HM (yes, I stayed near a bathroom all day). All this to cap out fat and glucose levels for race day. In doing this I have found my race goes better and, probably most important, my recovery!! Like night and day... I have formulas to help calculate calorie building based on weight, age, ect. during a tapper week that seem to be right on if anyone wants to go through that much work. But really, you know how your eating. You can get a load of info from the following book, it's short and easy to read. Nutrition Periodization for Endurance Athletes, Bob Seebohar, MS, RD, CSCS |
