Sounds awesome!

Stuck at hospital... sometimes I do a really great workout when I am stuck here that is just to walk up and down the 14 flights of stairs (no one much uses the stairwells so I have some privacy... once my partner caught me doing it at she tells me I am an insane exercise addict!)

I can relate. We only have 5 floors at my work, but I have used the back stairwell (that gets less traffic) and gone up and down several times. When someone walks in they just think "oh, it's that crazy girl again". You do what you got to do right?

I thought of you today -- I took a webinar on yoga and triathlon with Sage Rountree -- some interesting nuggets -- I'll write out what I learned this weekend.

cheekymonkeys1 - 2013-01-02 9:58 PM That's great info. Thanks so much for some great ideas - appreciate it. I will ( attempt to) put them into action tomorrow.

No problem, I hope it is helpful

I just pulled the trigger on the 910. There was a pretty good deal on roadrunnersports.com for the triathlon bundle - came with the cadence sensor + HRM.

Not great to hear that you have had hassles with it.

I have a KK Road too...and it is quiet. But, I can't compare it to much else. Also, the music I play would drown out anything else. I go music before shows BUT:

I cannot believe that no one has mentioned The Wire. Awesome show.

Also  - Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story (I like Connie Britton) and BBCs new take on Sherlock Holmes is really good.

Speaking of peeing...there has been a couple of threads in BT in the past about peeing in the pool. I kinda lost it (internally) to read how many people peed in the pool.

One week to Disney 1/2 Marathon. Felt good for my 8 miles today. It was 10 degrees. The new insulator tights I gave to myself for the holidays are awesome.

I am happy to say I have never peed in the pool! However, knowing that kids do, I did ask about it and apparently the levels of chlorine are enough to kill it right away. Still totally gross thoughI think I need to learn to pee on the bike, not sure about the run. Do any of you feel totally guilty peeing on your beautiful bikes? Do you just wipe it down after? Anything special you do to keep it from affecting the components? Or is this needless worry?

YAY! curious!

The biggest thing Sage emphasized was what she called the "inverse periodization of yoga."  Essentially you should do the most intense yoga when your training is at its least intense and the gentlest / restorative yoga when your training schedule its at its most intense.  She advocated hot / power classes during the base phases of training in lieu of strength training (and emphasized that strength training and intense yoga should not be done on the same day) and gradually reducing the intensity of the classes as training becomes more intense as race day approaches.

She cautioned that intense yoga coupled with intense training blocks doesn't give the body time to recover.

She also recommended several websites that have on demand "drop in" classes:

Morning everyone!

Today I'm doing a videoed swim & run analysis and then a LT test on the bike.  Should be interesting, the getting back on the bike in the late afternoon for a long ride.  I'm working on pulling together a post on tests and testing -- hopefully today will give me some good pictures.

Was going to ride with a group of friends this morning but it's cold and rainy.  I'm already borderline clutzy on the bike to begin with so wet roads are a no go.

Jeff - stay strong, you don't want to start over. Bring snacks!

I set alarm to go to a 90 minute endurance spin class thus morning, woke to horrible stomach cramps, pushed snooze button & slept in. =(

I feel fine now (except still congested - this crap is awful) so who knows what that was???

Anyway, 4 days of Whole30 done! I did have snacks when hungry, so I didn't follow the only 3 meals, but oh we'll, not starting over for that.

Happy to report the 'no weighing' is surprisingly easy. Who would have thought.

Plan for today is to do medium/long run and then figure out a plan for the next few months.

Lastly, it's 27 degrees this morning. Yikes!

I hear ya, wet roads no good! I'm pretty clutzy on foot too - if there's a small bump in the road I'm sure to trip on it.

Morning, all!  Run with hill repeats done this morning.  I'm going to do some core work later today.  I wanted to wrap it up after the run but felt absolutely ravenous, so I pushed off core until later today.  I coughed a lot last night and felt sleep deprived when I woke up.  Didn't seem to bother me on the run at all!

Got some blood work back that is consistent with Celiac disease.  Biopsy may confirm it later this month.  It's pretty interesting that I've been eating strict Paleo for 4 days and haven't had 1 single "attack" since.  I really do believe that things happen for a reason.

Karen - glad to hear the no weighing is going well for you.

Jeff have fun at the poker tourney. Poker was how my friends and I met in high school. Am currently teaching my daughter how to play. She's loves math and logic puzzles.

Did 2000 at the pool and 3.5 mi run outside. Now gotta clean the chicken coop, head to the office to put up new blinds, work on reports, and DVR football.

Glad that the Paleo is working for you Jen! When is your biopsy? Are you logging your food anywhere?

Is anyone who is doing Whole30 (or the like) logging food anywhere so I can see what you are all eating?

Thanks, everyone, for the TV show recommendations.  I have seen a few of them ("The Wire", in particular, is my all-time favorite TV show), but there are lots of good choices for me to pick from .

Question for the group, particularly the swim experts:  I've been swimming with the Masters group now for a few weeks and can really tell I'm benefiting from it.  My swim is getting smoother, my times are getting slightly faster, and I'm feeling better at work in the morning.  My wife has even commented that my spindly cyclist's upper body shows some signs of filling out a little bit.  Surprised

One minor downside, though, is that I seem to have a more-or-less constant crick in my neck/shoulder, as if I slept on it wrong.  It is on the right side - my primary breathing side.  I'm thinking of splurging on a massage, but beyond that, any easy stretches people can recommend to work this sort of thing out?

Hello all,I have been eating healthier than I have in a very long time since jan 1 and have not weighed myself. The feeling of not weighing self is awesome. Knowing I'm making healthy choices, I don't feel the need to weigh myself. Also, I feel like I have been eating significantly less than I ordinarily do, but yet I am feeling full all the time and I have no cravings to snack all day. This is unusual for me! I'm shocked and confident I can keep this up at least 30 days. My only worry is upcoming work events with lunch and dinner served. I'm thinking of bringing my own food. I will likely also go out to eat 1-2 times this month, which might get tricky. I need to start bringing my own dressing everywhere.I had a rest day today and am looking forward to a 5k tomorrow.. I will let you all know how I do.

I made Beverly's Larabar recipe. I couldn't stop thinking about them since she posted. They are yummy!!!

I combined 1 cup cashews, 1/2 cup sunflower, 1 cup unsweetened dried black cherries, and 12 dates. That makes them whole 30 compatible, right? How and when would you eat them since we aren't really allowed snacks?

I think that's why it's been easy to walk past the scale and not give it a second thought. I'm eating healthy, not putting crap in my mouth, so I don't really care what the scale says. I am liking this very much!
