Kyle, can you just get some cheap new slick tires? That might make the trainer more enjoyable. And save the tires you have.

Good practice to swap them out too.

I have a trainer tire, but my wife just uses an old tire that she doesn't trust for real riding.  Before getting a wheel dedicated for the trainer, I swapped between the trainer tire and road tire twice a week.  Needless to say, I can change a flat pretty quick.

Man, I have been falling down on the training. I planned to stay home from skiing for the weekend to get in doubles. Not long after my husband and daughter headed to the mountain a friend called and convinced me we needed a powder day. And I caved.

I guess I could have less healthy downfalls than skiing! 19 days prior to Feb is a pretty good start for me.

I do this for fun- so I guess it's all good.

But I need to get on a training plan. So that's my goal for the week. Find a plan and get on the darn bike (although with another foot of snow it's going to be inside).

Last week was a lost cause. After 2+ feet of snow that shut down any plans for working out at the YMCA for a few days and/or running outside, I had a bad family week for working out because I was DaddyTaxi (tm) for my daughter who was in her school play alot that week. So in the end I took about 10 days off. I owe a CLP for that week. I avoided BT because I was feeling guilty during the time, but I did make up for it by drinking some good beers. 6 pages of posts and I'm caught back up. Sorry to hear about the job Qua.

Workout
6+ miles yesterday on the deadmill
4.5 today

Now my legs are killing me. Just normal muscle pain, but it was only 10 days....give me a break ya know? I guess I deserve it. On the plus side my knee benefitted from the time off and doesn't hurt.

As for my plans for the month. I want 16-20 workouts. Seriously limit the alcohol intake. Eat less. Lose weight. Delight in my pants fitting better. Is that too much to ask? Oh, dropping another 5 pounds would be nice. I hit it in January but yikes that was close with my week off.

I have to get the bike in for a tune up here shortly...so when I'm there I'll probably just pick up a cheap one....just avoiding going to the bike shop....always spend money when I go there...lol

In the spring/fall, I just leave my trainer tire on when I go outside for a ride. Probably not the best grip, but for my use it is fine!

just checking in. I have limited workouts to stretching and a little core, unless coughing and blowing out green stuff counts. On the plus side my throat is too sore to eat. I'm off to a pretty rocky start....

Well off to Phoenix this afternoon for a mini getaway. I have booked bike rental for me and my wife for Friday night to Monday morning. Hoping to get in 3-4 rides in the beautiful sunny warm weather!! Also hoping to go for some great trail runs in the desert as well! More importantly, a trip to BevMO to fill up on great craft beers!

Workout Did a brick today: 15 mi stationary bike; 5 mile dreadmill. My Thursdays the rest of this month are going to afford me the opportunity to do this, so I have to take advantage of it.


Hey Scott blowing green stuff out of your lungs counts as core work...I can remember hurting the next day after a day long coughing fit. Get well soon. You're following the right rule: Symptoms below the neck (chest congestion, body ache) = time off. Symptoms only above the head (runny nose/sneezing) = go for it. (According to Runner's World)

Although I had something similar and it's the reason I hit my Jan goal weight!

I did master's today 2500 yards. I'm going to be sore. But a good sore!

Tough 3200 yard swim today with the main set of 1700 comprised of 50s and 100s on tight intervals.  I plan to run when I get home in a little while, then drink beer and eat pizza.

Just one trainer ride and one run left for the week to hit my goals.....wife's sister had a baby so don't know if we are going to go see her or not....so the training stuff could get interesting.....here's for a 5am wake up for a trainer ride.....for someone that hasn't had to wake up to an alarm for the last month....5am is going to seem really early.....

Sounds like most are having good weeks, minus the couple food instances. Sorry guys, yuk!!

Unfortunately the 8x Mt Faber hill climbs this morning was cancelled due to heavy rain. I will do a swim later and then a long ride on Sunday morning.

Hit all my goals for the week by Friday so I'm feeling good. Except of course the core challenge I need to still do Saturday and Sunday to complete that goal.

Getting our first family visitor in 16 months landing in a few hours!! Looks like I'll show my cousin the good beer place and get to have a few with him.
