tri808 - 2010-03-08 8:20 AM I have a short 4 mile recovery run at lunch, then masters class after work.  Hoping to get 8-9 hours of sleep tonight.

Hey Jay, what masters do you go to?

Wow...didn't even know I had a fellow Aloha state member in here.

I go to the Nu'uanu YMCA masters class.

Only for another 2 months!   I just found out they started a masters here on Post and was wondering if anyone has gone to it yet...I see you are doing Waterfront as your first tri. Looking at your logs you should totally rock it. I was planning on doing it but because of my on going shoulder saga, I have opted to take it easy. I might volunteer or just show up for moral support since a few of my (BT) buddies are doing it and will most likely be my only chance to say my goodbyes!

Happychick - 2010-03-08 3:02 PM Can you tell I'm playing catch up?!  Anyway, did I mention that my race schedule is all but out the window this year?  One reason is cuz of my move but the biggest reason right now is that my shoulder is jacked up.  I had a few tris planned before leaving in May but since I got to the point with the shoulder (impingement syndrome) that I couldn't even move my arm, I opted for a cortisone shot last week and some major rehab.  Needless to say, I am concentrating on running this year and am planning on doing my first marathon in WA ~ Bellingham Bay!   Aside from that, I will be playing the race scene by ear!

Sorry to hear that Michelle.  Can you ride at all or does that hurt?  Sneak a du or 2 in if you can.

Thanks, Bill! Up until I got my cortisone shot I would all but curl up in the fetal position and cry like a baby anytime I even moved my arm.  K, maybe it wasn't quite THAT bad but it was pretty ugly. I had to stop swimming and riding all together cuz I would pay for it for days on end ~ to the point where I couldn't even do normal daily functions.  Anyway, to prevent tearing the tendon all together (which was my ortho's concern) I have opted to just take it easy and focus on running since I can handle that as long as I keep icing it!

That really sucks.

I hope that you have good luck with the cortisone and get better quickly.

*YAWN*

It has been a long day.  I don't think that I will be getting any official workouts in tomorrow, but I will be doing lots of hard labor yard-work tomorrow.

G'night all.

Happychick - 2010-03-07 8:10 PM Hey all! Sorry I was completely absent this past week...I felt as though I was on my death bed but am feeling much better now.

Stacie ~ to answer your question from a week ago I am moving to WA.  My hubby is retiring (Army) and has accepted a job up in Northern WA which is nice cuz we have family there!

Yeah for retiring - my hubby is retiring (Air Force) and will be out effective 1 May. He starts his new job here at Tinker in OK on 3 May.

Yeah! Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Double yeah for retiring! But, wow, he isn't even taking a break?? We are staying in a hotel on Waikiki our last week here and calling it our final Hawaii vacation!

Thanks Melissa! Thank goodness its getting better everyday but that forward motion of swimming then having my arm out in front on the bike is what really bothers me so I've come to terms with this and have decided that I will just build up my base again this winter and come back even stronger next year, ready to tackle my first 70.3 (which was supposed to be this year here in hawaii) Such is life, right?!

Got my swim on today.   And have my workout logged on the spreadsheet.   29% of month complete... 29% of goal complete.  Guess you could say I'm right on target.

I anticipate getting above goal this week with the workouts planned for the rest of this week.   Two runs, another swim, and a bike ride on Saturday.   Might even squeeze a brick in.

Go twisters!

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-09 6:05 AM Morning TWISTER's!

Got my first commute of the year in today and it was quite the pain in the butt to be honest with you.  You remember last night I had to get a new lock because I was dumb and lazy right?

Well today I was about 1.5 miles from home, hit a bump, and I guess my tire was not seated properly so a side pushed out.  Time to walk home.  Decide I am going to drive, I will just go for a run and bring my gym stuff and then hit the pool on the way home.  Then I get mad and say screw it I will fix the flat, then decide if I am going to fix a flat it is going to be my geared bike that flatted on my rollers somehow???

So about 1 hour later than expected I left for work = more traffic but I survived!

Now to consume enough food so I have energy on the way home - always a battle to keep the food clean on days like today!
sorry to hear that you've had a frustrating morning.

Me too.  someone had left it sitting on the counter instead of putting it back in the fridge.  I had thought that I was the only one in the household that used it.
