2 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I am not riding with the I AM TRI group but I will be riding the course. I am heading out at 6am to try to beat the heat and the traffic (cars and bikes alike). If you decide to leave early there are usually many of us out there so that helps (plus we stop at Sligo to refuel). Good Luck!! |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Hanging in there. 3-80 milers and 2 100+ rides done so far. Now getting to the 3 hour runs. Almost there! But I've had a setback with my tricep. Hurts to swim initially, then sore after and in the aerobars. Going to the doc Friday...it's a strange injury location! I can work out of it but when I was leaving masters this I couldn't hold my bag with my bad arm |

Extreme Veteran 492 NW Arkansas | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I have to ask. Sorry if this has been discussed earlier. I have watched this thread for a long time and don't remember it specifically (although I'm sure it has and I'm forgetting). With regards to changing tents, transitions and bags: It appears there ARE changing tents, so we can theoretically change clothes from swim to bike to run. ??? Is this correct and is it common to change? I sort of like the idea of changing into running shorts for the run portion. From reading IAMTRI and other reports, it basically seems like we have to check everything on Saturday and there are several bags to check. This is from last year's athlete guide. • Green morning clothes bag Do you get any of these back or once you check it - and use it - it's gone? Any other bag tips? HIMs are so much easier from this point of view. Thanks! |

HIMs are so much easier from this point of view. Thanks! That is correct. There is a changing tent for the men and one for the women. Stripping down to your birthday suit and changing is no big deal. As far as the bags go, I believe the transition bags need to be dropped off on Saturday when you drop off your bike. I could be wrong on that. As far as the transition bags go, you can either drop them off on Saturday or bring them with you Sunday morning if you need to check on your bike and just hand them over to the volunteers. There will be an area set aside where you can drop them off. You will also have access to your transition bags in the morning before the swim if you forgot to put something in there. I know you can get your transition bags back at the KICC building. I'm not sure about the special needs bags, but I think (key word) those can not be picked up so don't put anything in there that you need back. |

I figured that was the case on special needs bags. I just need to get it all figured out. Definitely a logistics problem. |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Thanks, I just hate getting a new injury! And my bike fit has never betrayed me before...I live for aero bars, so not being able to use them sucks. The 3 hour runs are the worst part! I've only done two marathons, both at the end of my two IMs. I'm not a runner and the longer these training runs get, the more I realize it! Thank god everyone will be shuffling/walking around with me. I'm great race company |

Master 2020 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Speaking of the Ironman shuffle. Last week on my long run a pro that is scheduled to race at Lou shot by me at what was my mile 4. He went by me like I was standing still. While I was thinking that I was cruising at a decent pace (8:26 that mile) he had to be going at least a sub 6:00 mile. I kind of felt defeated after that. |

19 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread shanelavery21 - 2012-07-05 10:08 AM June Totals:15.21 miles swim (pool) 37 miles run 325 miles bike Happy with swimming and biking. Need more running. Mega hours is coming up over the next few weeks, so those figures will hopefully be way bigger come the end of July. I have only really been ticking over with the training, but my friend had been over visiting, so once he leaves after the weekend, i can knuckle down and get some serious long sessions in.
Hows everyone else getting on, many distractions? Way too many distractions for me, I'm afraid! I am far behind the mileage I wanted to be at by this point. But I am also getting married in just over 2 weeks and that plus full-time college have hurt my training. I will need all the encouragement I can get from my fellow racers on the course to complete my first attempt at 140.6!! |

I can tell from your profile and past posts your a very successful triathlete, my diagnosis for your injury...your not very good at yard work. Easy up and you should be fine! Good luck at the doctor. Expert 1036 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I expect you all have already booked you rooms for the race? If you haven't, there is a better way. I used priceline in 2010 and got my room for 86 bucks a night when the going rate was around 150. I just booked my room for this years race using the same method. Got the Brown Hotel for 90 per night. Just thought I would put that out there for you. |

19 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread So I've read about a lot of BTers' training and mileage, but out of curiosity, what is everyone's diet these days? As would be expected, my appetite is through the roof and I'm starving by the time each meal comes around. I snack in between meals just to survive! How are you ensuring you get enough calories? |

Veteran 209 Northern Ohio | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I am doing the bike course this weekend for the second time. There are a few spots on the Lagrange loop that the roads are a little thin. I got honked at a few times but nothing too bad. The problem comes in when the cars will not go around you on these roads and it ties up traffic. I would just pulling off for a few seconds until all passed and then back on the road. I though Rts 1694 (out and back) and 42 to be relatively simple and traffic was not too bad.

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I've stopped trying to watch calories, I was waking up in the middle of the night starving! eh, it will be easier when I'm not doing 20 hour weeks! Doc told me my triceps head was inflamed and put me on the quickfix program. 6 days of steroids, since cortisone shots don't work well in that area, no swimming for a week, and PT starting Wed. Here's hoping! But I don't like not swimming. |
