Wow, a nap sounds like a great idea.  I'm icing my knee after yoga this morning (Warriors get me sometimes), so I have an excuse to lounge around for alittle while.  It's an off day for me, so at least it's not keeping me from a workout.

Hmmmm...after power yoga, is it still an off day?

Ahhh Sunday morning and a day off.  I made it through a long workout week and capped it off w/ a 5 mile run and 2 hr. bike ride yesterday.  Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Ugh...we were on page 2.  Can't have that!

Did everyone enjoy the weekend?  Mine was pretty good.  I ignored the housework, took some naps, watched the Tour of California, oh, and had a decent run yesterday.  The ToC's website was great.  They have a glossary!  I think this is the first time I've ever watched cycling and understood what they were saying.

We watched every stage of the TofC.  My husband taped it so that was each evenings entertainment.  LOL  But it was fun.  I love listening to the accents of the announcers and the comments they make.  It's so funny!  The first couple of days sure looked miserable.  And what's up w/ all of the stupid Americans!  UGH!!!!!!!

OMG!!!!  Wasn't it absolutely insane on the side of the road yesterday?!?  What really made me cringe was the people holding little kids and running along with the bikes.  If one of those guys had wiped out...

Yes - the dangling babies were particurly bothersome.  I kept thinking of Michael Jackson.

We got our friends married off and had a good time.  They are taking a three week honeymoon, which I'm insanely jealous of.  I think they flew to Peru on Sunday afternoon.  I on the other hand, drove back to Brandon, MS.  Sigh...

I saw antler guy.  He wasn't nearly as memorable as sumo-wrestler guys, green speedo guys, syringe guy, underwear guy, or dangling baby guy.  Oh, and let's not forget long-haired naked guy.

I had to go and be an overachiever/super worker and I lifted too much on Monday.  Not any particular one rock, boulder, board, or tree...just way too many large lifts.

I am experiencing a familiar sharp pain in my right glute. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a sciatic nerve issue and is related to the bulging disc I was dealing with last year.

The important thing is that no one will doubt that I am a strong, hard worker.

I am tired and feeling lazy so this is copied right out of my log.

Happy Wednesday!

I have a midweek day off today from training.  It feels weird.  I finished up yesterday's workouts by lunch and I don't have anything until Thurs. AM.  I don't know what to do w/ myself.  I keep saying that I try to get some Wii in tonight for stretching and yoga.  I can have some computer figure tell me my balance sucks and that I am a couch potato.  LOL

And I am so ready for spring.  I always get grumpy about the cold this time of year.  I'm done w/ it.  And even though we are getting into the 50s for 2 days a cold front is coming back through for the weekend.  So that will be 10 miles running outside in the cold and a boring 2 hr. trainer ride.  UGH!

Don't hate me, but I actually would love to see some real snow before winter ends.  It is the 40 degrees and raining that I can't stand.  After a winter like this one I feel ripped off.  One more week and then we are heading north for a 3 day weekend.  I can't wait to be where the snow is.

I totally spazzed out swimming this morning.  I was going to work on breathing on both sides.  I'd been practicing breathing every third stroke so I was changing from side to side, and that had been working fine.  This morning I breathed in on the wrong stroke, while my face was still in the water, flailed around for a bit, recovered.  So I tried again, same results.  I was relieved the lifeguard didn't try to save me.  I'm sure I looked like I was drowning myself.  I gave up and just breathed to the right, took it slow, and finished, but geez!  I'm just glad it's a recovery week so it was a short swim.

Sorry but I have to laugh!  Of course, you just described how I swim on a normal day.  I can't breath to the left.  If I try, my head pops up and gasps for breath like some sea turtle and I start doggy paddling.

As far as the snow, I'd be all for that.  My poor son is dying for a good snow.  And the snow I don't mind - it's usually very pretty and warmer on snow days.  But this cold wind has got to go.  I seriously thought my face was going to get frost bite yesterday morning when I ran.

I'm with you on the wind.  I look at the thermometer and dress to the temperature, then get out there and the wind makes it feel 20 degrees colder.  I've been sticking my head outside to find out what's really going on before I head out.  The warmer weather certainly will cut down the prep time for a run.

Laughing I liked this story too!

I had a basketball game last night and the scorer/timekeeper didn't show up, so noone was keeping track of fouls etc.  The other team took that as an invitation to foul hard everytime anyone got close to the basket, since they couldn't get fouled out, and there were no bonus situation free-throws.

At least we won anyway and I enjoyed it but it was a rough game and I'm pretty sore today in few spots.  I took a knock to the ribs but I think they held up OK and I shouldn't miss any training time.  Sore = train through, hurt = rest, right?  I think I'm just sore.

I'm still keeping track of nutrition but I've started using another site to do it - thedailyplate.com.  It's a little quicker and easier to use than BT, although I still prefer BT for logging my training.

So far I've lost around 11 lbs since the beginning of the 2009, and 15 lbs since my last tri last year.  Got to keep it going!

Hope everyone is doing well.

That's awesome.  You're doing great.

Take care of those ribs.  You've got a race coming up.  Even if it's just for fun, you don't want to hurt through the whole thing.

To anyone out there...what are your thoughts on my training while a disc in my lower back is a bit irritated.  It is putting a slight pinch on my sciatic nerve.  I feel a bit of tightness in my right leg and there is a nearly constant tweaked feeling in my right glute.

I am considering doing a very, very, very easy swim/spin brick in the morning.

What saith you?   Yea?  Nay?

I'm no doctor, but sometimes swimming free/crawl or breaststroke can aggravate lower back problems. If you give it a shot and forward stroke doesnt feel comfortable, try backstroke, or elementary backstroke, or just walking in the water.  If you do flip turns - instead I would just stop and let yourself drift out from the wall instead of pushing off with your feet. Good to keep mobile though, as well as the usual stretch, ibuprofin, and ice...

Shorts, short sleeve shirt, reflective vest, shoes, and out the door for me this morning

I say nay.  Swimming feels easier on your body, but it's quite technical and can really irritate something into a full blown injury.  Running is out, and even biking puts stress on the lower back.

Taking time off for an injury (and you have an injury, not just soreness) is wise.  It can feel like you're falling behind or coming up short, but that is far from the case.  You're getting ready for a race day, not for tomorrow.  So, rest it.  Let it heal up, then keep up the good work.  It's the smart thing to do, even though it's not really what we want to hear some times.

Hey Daniel-

Are you ready for the Rainman? It is only a few days away!

I'm ready, but I'm not sure it's going to happen for me Frown

The plan was to go with my wife, her sister and another friend, but now they are making backing-out noises and saying they want to go an a road trip instead, and if they do I can't exactly stay behind by myself to do the tri... well, I could but it would not make for a happy home

Having said that, with the weather today maybe they will not want to drive too far after all, so it's going to be touch and go.  I really hope I can make it.  I see they allow walk-up registration so that might be my plan if things work out.

I'm looking outside and wondering if they should change the name to SnowMan!

Hope your back feels better for the weekend.
