30 mile ride today at low exertion.  I was interesting in clocking 25k and 40k split times during the ride, but I screwed up the math converting to miles.  Nice work, considering I have a degree in mathematics.  Nevertheless, the times gave me a good idea of what to expect riding at a RPE of 4-5.

I'm doing an olympic distance Sunday, but I mainly entered to practice the OWS and transitions.  I'm looking to position myself right in the middle of the maylay so I can work on fighting for postion, sighting over other swimmers, and drafting.  As for the bike and run, I want to show some restraint and pace it out.  This has been hard for me in the past as I get caught up in the competition.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT Memorial weekend!

Got in about 56 miles on the bike today.  It was crazy windy.  But this was actually the first time I have done a solo ride that wasn't a continuous 4 mile loop.  I have done the route before with groups, but going solo was awesome.  Instead of watching the wheel/rider in front of me, I could take in the scenery.  Absolutely breathtaking.  I have lived here almost 29 years and have never got to experience the views like how I did today.  Maybe sometime this fall when my races are done, I'll just go out on an easy ride and take some pictures.

Make you guys jealous.

brick94513 - 2010-05-30 1:41 PM Bill, nice race.  Congrats on holding a 20 MPH pace on the bike!

Ocean swims are tough and require a special skill set.  Wind chop, currents, tides, and local topography all create special issues.  Plus, finding landmarks to sight is much more difficult than in a lake.  Considering you aren't able to practice ocean swims, I think you should be quite proud of the fact that you successfully completed the swim despite your time!

Don't go to the dark side with duathlons!  OWS is all about comfort.  The more you do it, your confidence will rise!

I won't do it, Tim... I promise!  That was more of a joke than anything.  When I crossed the finish line of my HIM last year, I screamed out at the top of my lungs, "NEVER AGAIN!!!"  And then I signed up for another one 2 weeks later.  It's kinda like child birth... once the memory of the pain fades, you're willing to go through it again!  As Arnold says... "I'll be back!"

Public Service Announcement: wear sunblock at all times!

Little story for you all.  Few months ago, I went in for my normal six month dental appointment.  Dentist does an oral exam during these visits.  He noticed that I had a white spot on my lower lip and stressed the importance of getting this examined.  So, after a couple of months of HMO run around, I get into the dermatologist today. He states most likely it is cancerous, but since the treatment is less invasive than the biopsy, he advised to just remove the area.  He basically froze the area to remove the lesion.  It was kind of painful, but better than the alternative.  I'll have a fat lip for a few days.

Scary.  I'm too young for this crap!  Just wanted to share so hopefully you guys can be proactive.

Not fun Tim. I hope this takes care of it for you.

Just got home from a fun weekend with the family. It's interesting to see how things change as people grow older. My wife and I are both on the top end of the siblings with quite a difference between us and the youngest. We're watching some go through things that we went through quite a while ago but they don't want any advice. We just sit back and watch now. Some will have some tough times ahead as they are experiencing the consequences of decisions they made. It was a good weekend but I'm glad I'm home now.

Got in a good ride and run through the hills of Park City over the weekend. It was brutal but it felt good. I am determined to spend more time training in the mountains this summer. I also scoped out a trail last week so now I have a place to run or ride during lunch or after work when I go in to the office for work.

Anyone up for the challenge next month? I haven't decided if I'm going for it or not. I will be in Mexico for about half the month so if I go for it, I will be setting some low goals.

I also have a race two days after I get home from Mexico that I'm a little nervous about. I don't feel like I am as ready as I should be. Its a relay and I don't want to let the team down. My total mileage for the relay is 12 miles (6, 3, 3) so it shouldn't be to bad.

Its going to be a busy week. I have to wrap my projects up for work before we go plus we have to finish getting things ready to go and my son graduates Friday and I fly out Friday evening. I don't know how much training I will get in before I go or while we are there so I will definitely be tapering before the race I have when I get home.

So I was hoping for some mountain rides coming up soon but it looks like it won't happen for a while. Got a closer look at the mountains and there's still quite a bit up there on the peaks. May have to wait until the end of June before the trails are all clear of the white stuff.

Just checking out the spreadsheets to see how we are doing in the official challenge. I set some of the overachievers to the max of 105 that we have for the challenge and it looks like we are in the lead. Hopefully they won't surprise us with a bunch of workouts today to pull ahead. We are tied for the bike goal so I am heading out for a ride to break that tie as soon as I am done here.

I think I'm bailing out on next month.  It's going to be a busy month for me.  I have a few races, a family vacation, and a group swim from Alcatraz to Aquatic Park, San Francisco.

No snow on the trails?  I have an XTERRA in Tahoe City at the end of June; there is still snow on the ground and the lake is 45 degrees!  Crap!

Nice work Paul.  I pretty much slacked off today.  I went for a three mile run, then out on my boat for the morning to wakeboard.  I just didn't have it in me to ride or swim today.  Sorry Guys.  I made my run goal for the month, but fell of the wagon as far as the bike and swim goes.

Good evening, guys.  I just updated the spreadsheet.  A solid weekend of training put me at 105% for everything.

Nice job finishing strong everyone.  Hopefully it's enough to see some lovely lady legs.
