mndymond - 2010-07-08 1:54 PM Ok, back from visiting the boys...we went to get coffee. Woooo Iced Coffee!!!

Now back to papers...and pretending that I am being productive.

Sounds like my day.  I wasn't too backed up after vacation

Haha. Well I sort of am being productive now...less pretending. I am attempting to sort through a bunch of physics and chemistry right now. I feel smart...I am coming up with some conclusions...which hopefully are actual conclusions and my supervisors will see it the way I see it.

Ya for somewhat productive, "smart" day?

Of course, BT sort of takes an edge off of being productive? Oh well. Can't be all work, no play, now can we?

Nice! Good thing you are training for an IM though?

No kidding.  Even after all the eating I did over the holiday weekend I don't feel the least bit guilty.  It will be sad in September when I don't have an excuse to eat anymore.

Of course you've got an excuse to eat in September. How else are you supposed to build up insulation for that cold Midwest winter?

True, but I also need to be in somewhat decent race shape in January

Do you want to be in racing shape or look good in a kilt shape?

I am going to assume that these go hand in hand

Well, yes, I can see many similarities.

Haha. That's all I have to say.

Neal are you doing Raigbrai??? Did I read that correctly?

I am!  And it's just 2 short weeks away!

I wish I'd done that while I lived there, but I didn't have anyone else who would have done it with me. Plus I had to be in school full time in the summers. Oh well - maybe someday. What's the route look like this year?

Short.  But they will probably make up for that with more hills.

I had the same excuse (no one to ride with not the school thing) keep me from going in years past.  I'm riding with the BT group and have met just one of them.  Should be good times though

That should be a blast! I remember looking at the course the year I really wanted to go (2006 I think) and it was pretty flat until the end in the Quad cities on the last day where the route went up and down a bunch of bluffs. Nice way to finish!

I did.  Lunch is made, weather is checked (I am going to get wet tomorrow on my commute at some point), family is at church softball game, and I am ready for bed.

Sounds like I am falling asleep to the primetime coverage of the TDF!

I'm still miffed at OLN about the absence of primetime coverage. *grumble grumble grumble*

OLN is lucky I don't have a real job this summer and make my own hours. Haha. They would be getting an angry email otherwise...it would have been scathing...

You could be like me and have direct tv which doesn't carry versus at all.  I've been looking online for sites that replay the whole stage without much luck.  I can't do the live streaming because that may be frowned upon at work.  I might just pony up and pay versus.com's ridiculous $30 for on demand coverage.  I need my tour fix!!!!

Neal! I'm so sad for you!

I looked for sites...I don't think they exist. They only play those "highlight" videos.

I'd pay it...but thats just me...I forced my Dad to buy the channel in 2004 and 2005. Yes, I am spoiled. I think he bought it and then got rid of it after the month...then I think OLN changed bundles and we ended up getting it anyways. I'm just ridiculously addicted to the Tour. Haha. Its pretty much all Lance Armstrong's fault.

Pay the $30 for your Tour fix! Just my $0.02.

Can you watch it live at work on versus.com?

They might have the show online for them tape delayed

I guess I could...But I like getting into it...and have emotional outbursts at the TV...lol...

I can just go into the lab later...it just means all my training for the next little while will be in the afternoon/after dinner unless its a rest day!

Oh wells!

Just went for a ride. Man it was HOT!! There were a couple of really nice breezy spots off of the water, but otherwise...nothing...my electrolyte drink was icky warm after like 20min! Blech.

Also, got cat called...why do people feel compelled to do this? 1) it scares the crap out of me when I'm riding and focusing on car noises behind me and when I hear a high pitched human noise I immediately think "oh &^%$ someone is going to crash into me or something behind me", and 2) its kind of awkward, I don't know how to react.

Is this just me?

nope

It has happened to me occasionally....it is annoying.  The last time it happened I was going up a big-azz hill...some guys in an SUV made a bunch of noise as they flew by.

time to hop in the shower.  I was working in the yard and the bugs came out.  A cold shower will help with the heat and the itch of bug bites.
