Veteran 169 Falls Church VA | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED AOTD: tri shorts and top for the race. I hardly ever bike with padded shorts in training, so on race day the tri shorts are more than enough. |

Extreme Veteran 482 | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Happy Monday!! Looks like everyone had a decent weekend! It finally warmed up here so it was nice to get in my long run outside yesterday! I did a 2:15 trainer ride followed by :15 run on the treadmill. I do a brick every week. AQOD: Being as 70.3 is my longest event on my radar at this time, I wear my tri suit for the whole thing. If I were to ever move up to IM, then I would change into bike shorts and then running shorts. |

Expert 758 Port Colborne, Ontario | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED OK...had a good weekend. Trainer for an hour on Sat. in high Z2 HR, and a 20k long run on Sunday outside in the slush. I thought my legs would be killing me today, but I only have very minor soreness in the quads so I'm happy about that. Didn't get a chance to hit the pool on the weekend unfortunately, but I am tonight. AQOTD: I do everything with just my tri shorts, even my brick workouts I do with the tri shorts. |

Veteran 693 Indianapolis | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Like a few other people have said, I like tri shorts over bike shorts. I like shorts with virtually no padding. Shorts like that are getting harder and harder to find! I can't stand wearing bike shorts. Kinda like wearing a big diaper. jamie |

Veteran 693 Indianapolis | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED I'm curious to know what other athletic events of any type the group has either done, or is interested in doing. It doesn't have to be S/B/R/. Maybe you climb mountains, kayak or something else???? For me, I'm starting to become curious about ultra running. I have a desire brewing to do a 50 mile run this fall. Has anybody ever done an ultra. If so, have any tips? How about you?? |

Veteran 199 Abbotsford | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED I do a little hiking and geocaching with the family. I have also thought about doing a ultra. Do a google search for ultraman penticton. Now that's crazy! It's like a 10k swim to start and like a 240k bike and 2 marathons. |

Extreme Veteran 605 Centennial, CO | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED don't post stuff like that. I'm sitting here looking at it feeling like I should do it now. Ha...I'll stay focused on just getting through my first 70.3 and IM though. I used to do a lot of hiking, got into kayaking a bit, snowboarding, skiing, etc...all that colorado type stuff (minus the mtn biking). I haven't done much the past few years and have been using the kids as an excuse. I think I mentioned in my introduction post that I've been a weightlifter forever...not so much anymore though. One thing I really want to do is start climbing 14ers with my son, but he's four, so I've got a few years before he'll be ready for that. |

Extreme Veteran 565 Silicon Valley | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Since IMTX will not be wetsuit legal, my default plan is to swim in my trishorts, then throw on a top in T1 (stuffed with fuel). Bike and run will also be in the trishorts. Got an hour in on the bike this AM, now I'm off to the gym for another session - mostly running. |

Veteran 693 Indianapolis | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED True story from Kona 2009. I volunteered as a bike catcher and worked the mens change tent for the race in 2009. Very fun experience. I got to see many of the pros up close. I caught Stadlers bike as he came in to T2 which made the NBC show that year. So the story: I'm working the change tent in T1. 2009 was the last year that the neoprene speed suits were legal so a big part of my job was helping guys strip off their speed suits. One guy sits down and I grab his speed suit and pull it off of him. Out comes, get your head out of the gutter, yards and yards of saran wrap! The conversation went like this: me: what's all this saran wrap for him: I thought I could wrap my tri shorts in saran wrap to keep the dry throughout the swim me: how did that work out him: not so good True story. I still chuckle thinking about it. He thought that he would keep his tri shorts dry through a 60'+ swim in the ocean. Crazy. Jamie |

Veteran 693 Indianapolis | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED QOTD: Do you log your training on other software besides BT? If so, what program? I log my training on Raceday (physfarm.com). I run a mac @ home and it's native to mac (runs on PC's as well). It handles S/B/R and one 'other' activity. I can track up to 10 athletes on it b/c I have a coaching version. It handles most of the electronic 'gadgets' on the market and works great with my PT and 305. Jamie VOLUNTEER FOR WEDNESDAY QOTD? |

Extreme Veteran 482 | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Good morning! Just hopped off of the treadmill to log my workout! I use BT to log my workouts. I also use WKO (and upload to TP) for my power data and I use it when I run outside. I too am a mac person and simply run Parallel on my mac to get WKO to work. I am still in my infancy in learning what the data means. |

Expert 758 Port Colborne, Ontario | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Hit the pool this AM instead of last night. Felt good in the water today...wish it was always like that. I mainly use BT for logging, but sometimes I'll upload the FR 305 to the Garmin Connect site. |

Extreme Veteran 565 Silicon Valley | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Funny story Jamie - I can't believe someone racing Kona could be that stupid. Imagine watching that guy getting ready before the swim start - wrapping himself then pulling on a wetsuit. Hilarious! AOTD: I use BT logs primarily, which I've been really happy with. I really like the equipment tracker to follow the mileage on my running shoes. Right now I'm also logging in excel so I can do weekly updates for the blog. PS - The funny post on my blog is up - go check it out. =) PSS - I'll do tomorrow's QOTD. |

Expert 1121 Menomonee Falls, WI | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Plan to do a lunchtime run today. The sun is out and it might get a little above freezing here in Wisconsin, so I am excited. In fact they are predicting a high close to 50 on Thursday. That's unheard of around this area in February. QOTD: I had always used different excel spreadsheets to track my workouts. It worked fairly well, but it definitely had it's negatives. One of the biggest was the inability to access it anywhere and everywhere. I do still use the spreadsheet to help me plan and layout my weekly workouts, but I prefer BT for logging everything and eventually using the planning logs once I create a plan or use one of the BT plans. |

Extreme Veteran 605 Centennial, CO | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED AOTD: I use BT and sport tracks for logging my workouts. When I start IM training I'll put some of that in excel as well. That saran wrap story is hilarous! I'm heading to the gym here in a bit to get in a 40 minute treadmill run then I've got a swim lesson this afternoon. Have a great day everyone! |

Veteran 169 Falls Church VA | Subject: RE: Jamie's HIM/IM Training Group-CLOSED Sounds like everyone is running at lunch. I got a pretty good run in despite my Garmin going crazy at the start (it gave me ~1.5m in the first 30 seconds of running, Im curious to see the map of where it thinks I ran when I get home). Because of that, I stuck to the standard route. Tonight is some quality time with the trainer, and then a couple miles on the treadmill. AOTD: Im also an excel planner, BT logger. My only complaint with BT right now is the popup every time I go to my logs that asks if I want to download data from the Garmin. Havent figure out how to make that go away yet. |
