I might need to start a thread about this but do any of you have any experience with net books or notebooks? I'm trying to educate myself about laptops because I'm going to get my girl something this Xmas so I want to get my shopping done this week with all the sales.

Anyway, I've been using this POS Acer, bottom-of-the-line, got it for $250 with a coupon netbook for the last TWO years. It's actually been phenomenal. Not trouble free, but for the volume I use it for--Web surfing, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets--it's awesome, and most of all, it's survived ME. And everything. For two years. Still going strong.

Forgot how much memory it has, but it's actually more than some laptops from just a couple years before that.
