Yes, I did have fun.  I got out just at sunrise on Saturday.  It was right at 50 degrees when I started (cold for here).  Decided I was going to run the first 6 @ pace.  the next six @ pace minus 5-10 sec. and the last 5 @ plus 5-10.  Felt good throughout.

About mile 15 hit a little bit of a wall but just as I was starting to fade, this blonde ponytail in these tiny white shorts came around the corner just ahead of me.  WOO HOO... just the pacer I needed.  She stayed ahead of me for about a mile and then double backed while I had to keep going.  My slowest mile, but definitely the best view.  Finished last mile strong.

So... any comments on the race.  Looked up your time and it was definitely solid.  What got into ya?

Yeah, I was pretty happy with it, overall.  I met up with Daremo at the start, with the plan to run with the 3:30 pace group for a while.  Yeah, that didn't last too long; the start was slow, and we got irritated, so we sorta took off.  Ended up staying on that pace for the first half, still felt pretty solid starting through the late-stage hills (miles 15-20).  Our splits for that section were not far off our average pace at that point.  At 20, I realized I had to do a 43 min 10K to hit the mark, decided I had to try, and took off.

Overall, I think I did much better in terms of being greedy with the handouts on the course.  I ate more on this than I have before.  Also, I wore my training shoes, which I think helped in terms of my feet (I didn't get any blisters).  No chafing, either, which surprised the hell outta me.  Everything just sorta clicked together, and I put together a good race.

I think the miles I've done have really helped in terms of managing the later parts of a race, too.

Biggest fear now is that I peaked about 5-6 weeks too early.  But time will tell.

Let's hope so....

I feel good, but there's always that little bit of concern, you know?

Great job out there Scout

As long as the weather holds for race day, it seems like CIM is your race.

Do you have any other tuneups planned?

As of right now, nothing specific.  I might do some 10K trail runs, use those as strength/speed runs, but other than that, I think the long races are good for now.  I'll get some longer runs in, though.

Well, the legs feel surprisingly good today.  No real stiffness or soreness left in them.  I was concerned on Saturday and Sunday morning, because I could feel it in my left ITB, but that seems to have taken care of itself.

Normally Monday is a running day, but I'm taking today off so I can rest more.  I'll run again tomorrow.

We've got over a month.  I should be alright.  If I can drop 2 seconds per mile, average, I'll be just fine.

I wonder if any of these women run... (or need to run LOL)?

Not without wearing two sports bras.
