Thanks guys on the knee pain suggestions. I already have my Look Blade Pedals coming. I will do the adjustments first as I already threw down 175 bucks. I was using SPD/MTB shoes so I am sure that wasn't helping at all....

All I know is I would rather not feel that again Rather feel the pain from doing the actual 100miles :D

Everyone must be out racing.  I can't wait to see the logs.

Week 1 of build phase - my legs are tired out.  I remember feeling this way after the first few weeks of the training program.  Focusing on recovery and everything should be fine in a week or so.

Have you ever wondered what is the difference between making the wrong turn and not making the right turn?  I had some time to think about that on my bike the other day Laughing

Been a long week for me workwise, lots of time in court this week. It as been such a crazy week that I have had to get some workouts in starting at 10:30PM! Very weird workout times for me than normally, but I am happy I got them in.

SUnday I do my 9.5 mile trail race, so send me some fast vibes on Sunday morning!

Been a recovery week for me so things have been sloow. Bagged my duuathlon on on Saturday due the weather and some naging injuries. Running a 10K race on Sunday and they are calling for winds at 40 mph. Should be fun.Had a tough week. I tend to feel my worst during these recovery weeks, but I really focused on getting rest. Can't believe seven weeks until my first HIM. Besides the physical issues, started to feel some real self doubt about whether I can remain injury free for the duration. Trying to remain positive and hold it together.

Toug conditions for a 10K. Blowing 30 mph after three inches of rain last night. Goal was to rub sub 45' with negative splits. Went out at 7:25 and back at 7:06. Held 7:15 and finished at 44:56. Finished 9th in the AG out of 85. Solid effort and had the entire family waiting at the finish line. Cannot wait to see them at the end of the 70.3 - tears wil be flowing.

good run Joe P!

I had a great brick ride/run yesterday.  20 mph winds made me not want to even start.  So, I set a course that had me go 15 miles straight into the wind.  Then, head with the wind for a long way - going close to 19.5 miles the next hour.  It was a confidence building ride, being my first long one (2.5 hrs) without a partner.

Followed up with run.  my legs were used to moving fast, so I ran a 7:50 pace for 3+ miles without really trying to push.  Just kept moving at a comfy pace and was surprised when I finished my course and saw the time.

Now I get to enjoy a planned rest day Laughing with tons of yardwork Frown

Heck of a race on Sunday. 9.5 miles of trails made of hills and mud!  It was awful and beautiful at the same time. I started to suffer a little groin problem about mile seven, but I was able to tuff it out and finish strong. I have never been great on trails, but this is definately something I think I will do again. I wanted to hit 1:30 and I went 1:30:03!  I knew I should not have stopped at the water table to take my gel and water, but I stood there for a few seconds.

Vicisous cramps later that evening while sitting in church! I know people thought the Lord himself got ahold of me the way I was squirming trying to work out those cramps!

Good to see some racing happening. Been just doing my routine stuff. Had to move this last couple weekends... Hopefully I will be ready for the duathlon coming up May 1st. My pedals should be here in the next day or so so I can get those set up.  Race on!

Hi all!  Looks like everyone had pretty productive weekends!  Sorry I'm a tad quiet, I'm in peak week for my HIM and going a little crazy.  Half of me feels I haven't trained enough, the other half is exhausted from training. lol.

Speaking of "wrong turns" I had one Sunday.  Turned my 50 hilly miles into 70 hilly miles.  I think I cried almost the whole last 10.  Though, that could have been because I was so low on calories by that point. lol.  That was scary.  Always bring your phone (and make sure it's charged) on long rides alone!  I was out there a total of 6 hours.  I guess it made for a good training day. lol.

I have one giant weekend planned in FL this weekend, then next week will begin taper.  God help me.

As Promised...

It took the better part of a week to get it in the computer and backchecked, but here it is.  This is a IM plan in the same format as the HIM plan I provided earlier.  It can be viewed in excel and imported into your personal library of plans if you want.

I just want to say that I love going to my chiropractor. The adjustments have been ok, but I love the fact that he helps stretch me and has helped me become more limber. I also have gotten a massage from the therapist and it was great. I am feeling great!

Hey All - been a busy week with work and training. I hate to say it but I am feeling as good as I have felt in a long time. Only 7 weeks to my HIM and decided to bag my early May tri because it falls during one of my peak training weeks. Been putting in too much effort to blow it on anything other than my A race.Even though I said I wouldn't I broke down and bought a set of carbon race wheels (partially used). Paid more than I wanted to, but got such a good deal I couldn't turn them down. Now all I have to do is ride like I deserve them.

Things are going well here except the weather sucks in Memphis. Major storms keep hitting us.

I am signing up for a road race series staring in June in addition to my other races. It consists of 10 races (5k, 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and 13.1 miler) I am hoping this will really help me with my HIM and my marathon I want to try in Dec.

Hope all is doing well, expect me to stalk you all and see how your season is going, and be sure and stop by when ya get the chance.

That's only 5 races?

Still sounds like fun!

I'm 2.5 weeks from HIM and kind of in shock that it's here already.  I'm also not thrilled that it's been holding steady at 90 with 85-100% humidity every single day already.  It's early in the year to be that hot, and likely will stay that way for the race.  Here's hoping that I don't bonk hard.  I've been training in it, but man that makes for a hot day.

Nicole - You must be so psyched and overwhelmed. I'm six weeks out from my HIM and am starting to freak out a bit. As for temperature, there's nothing you can do about or at least that's what I'm telling myself. My race is notoriously hot and humid and the weather up in here remain unseasonably cold. I'm just worried that I won't have the time to log enough training in the heat and humidity and then for the sure it will get hot and nasty the week of the race. I will be waiting for the race report! You'll do great because you have put in the training.

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm actually really just excited.  I know I can physically do it, so it's just a matter of going and having fun.

The heat worries me a bit, but I think we will all be dealing with the same thing.  I've trained in it, know my hydration plan, an dknow how my body feels if I'm just too darn hot.

Really, I'm just in it for the t-shirt.
