enders_shadow - 2008-05-15 5:41 PM OK, so I already have Jen's opinion (I think it was along the lines of "you're weird"...) but I found a 12-hour running race near me in October. Is it wrong to be looking at it longingly? I did an 8-hour run in a past life...I sucked, but the idea is still exciting. 5 mile loop. (There's also a 24-hour version, but I'm thinking this is something I should work into. - oh, and there's the matter of talking Sugar Daddy into it...)

As much s I love running, I think that one hits the level of insanity.  Now once I get on my own schedule next week I can go out longer in the morning pre work (YAY!!! I hate wasting half an hour runs, I love distance)

Hey Judi, and you and Kirsten pass on some of that running love stuff! I like it, but just have not been able to say the word "love" and "run" in the same sentence! I did get some new running shoes that I love to try and run in! there it is!!!....love and run in the same sentence!

See you already have helped!!!

Ive always thought the trick was to say it until you beleive it... will let you know if I ever beleive it

D001 - 2008-05-15 4:43 PM Evening Nibbs! How is everyone?

HI DEE! how was your day! did you werk hard? or hardly WERK?

Hi Julie! Well, I worked until the network went down. Does that count? (It's still down. I just checked.) How are you today? How's Mike doing? How's your Dad doing? How's your sister doing? How's, um, everyone else (because I can't remember the rest of your family's names) doing?

when the network is down - it is technically time to go home...did you not get that memo?

AND... you dont have to work until the next day either

I love [hack] [choke] [spit] [clear throat] ...

Nope - it doesn't work.

I can't say the "L" word and swimming in the same sentence.

Hee hee. And I was just "swimming" in memories because my kiddos started swim team this week. Sitting at those practices bring back so many memories. I feel like I am passing the torch, so to speak

Oh man, I just typed a lovely, long message to everybody, hit submit, then realized I started a new thread. Argh! Hubby's messing with my bike, so I gotta make it quick, but here goes:

Got a nice run in with Heather this evening--it was so nice to run with someone else. heather when can we do that again? i promise we'll run with the wind at our backs, and do the hill at the end. Or not. Please????

Gotta run--hubby's doing something with the saddle on my bike, and he's leaving for his next trip at the crack of ugly tomorrow morning, sooo.....bye for now, but know I'm thinking of you guys!

Hi Pam, Hi Cat, Hi Kristen, Hi Amy!

Cat - 10 min is good the first time out. Starting slow = less chance of injury.

Amy - I saw that "oops" post! Well, the remains of it, not the text that you first entered. (Now it says something meaningful like "duh.")

Has anyone here ever been on an interview committee (or interviewed someone for a job)? Just wondering....

We wrapped up the interviews today. It was strange - to me, at least. The person in charge just wanted us to rank everyone. There was no discussion about what we thought. I dunno. I was expecting us all to talk about it? (Ie: who would do the best job, or fit into the department best, etc.) I guess it's just a personality thing. I wanted to talk. The committee chairperson just wanted to be done with it.... I dunno. I feel disturbed by the lack of discussion somehow.

Then again, I *am* a chatter.... Just in case you didn't notice. LOL

That seems odd. If you were supposed to rank the candidates, it seems like you ought to be able discuss your reasoning behind the ranking and get a consensus from the committee. But what do I know. I sit on my butt and watch people swim.

Yes. And carry the red rescue tube which makes me look important Come on down. I'll even certify you.

Maybe the committee chair was trying to make you guys feel included. Because I don't think you can tell jack by ranking alone. You need to know each candidates' strengths, weaknesses and how those qualities will fit into your team. Has the decision already been made anf this is just part of the formalities?

Oooh, the red rescue tube! Yay!

Previously, I had thought the committee made the decision as a group. But I wasn't impressed by the whole process. There were no guidelines given, or procedures discussed... We just went in, did the interviews, made the rankings, and left.... So you may be right - we may have just been a formality (or a sounding board if the chairperson got stuck). Who knows....

Disturbing avatars are good. Disturbing things at work at not.

Thanks for being a sounding board.

D001 - 2008-05-16 11:30 AM Has anyone here ever been on an interview committee (or interviewed someone for a job)? Just wondering....

Me me!!!

LOL

Nah isnt there normally a post interview sit down to compare notes? so you can discuss who you did/didnt like nad why... that does seem kind of weird to me....

How can yuo all come to an agreement otherwise?
