Yeah, I recorded and watched the Wigan game Monday. Out of courtesy, I didn't post. They looked awful, uninspired for such an important match. Now 4th looks out of reach. Will be interesting how they look with Rafa gone.

Yeah.  4th was going to be Rafa's salvation.  Now it looks to be his downfall.  Over the past years, I had quite a bit of trust in him, now he needs to go.  And don't get me started on Hicks and Gillette.  Ugh!

Just saw this.  Whether you like Beck's or not, you have to feel for him and the poor timing of the injury.

And Liverpool won, but not without controversy.  Gerrard was lucky he wasn't straight red carded for that elbow in the second half.  I know he is frustrated, but there is NEVER a reason to do that.  Ever.  Quite disappointed in the play even though they won.

I think Captain Fantastic is very frustrated...would not be surprised to see him leave Pool in the summer....the Pool for life mantra will wear thin as his England team mates win trophies and get more press...favorable press that is. His form has definitely dipped, and if Torres decides to leave and Pool dont bring in new blood, chances of changing the current course is slim - he'll be off for greener pastures

He definitely has had a bad year.  Not that the rest of the team has been good around him.  Frankly, I would be surprised if 1/2 the team is back next year.  I agree with you, I think he is gone after this year.

Watched the Chelsea/Inter game today. I'm even more impressed with Inter than after the first leg. Chelsea only had a few decent scoring opportunities and the Inter defense looked great. The Inter goal was pretty sweet--great pass by Sneijder. Sorry Chelski, maybe next year

That game gives a meaning of living.. to get your dream meaning you have to demolish other people's dream, if not a whole city of London's.

Inter played well, and I think Julio Cesar made some descent saves. I doubt they would still have a sharp front edge, but it was answered by Samuel Eto'o. Another day, another win!

Gerrard escapes sanctions for the elbow. I saw the game and thought he'd get a suspension. ManUre cries foul.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday.  And for once, ManUre and I might be in agreement.  I feel so dirty now.  Ugh.

What..no mention of the tepid and feckless performance from Pool yesterday? You have to get rid of Rafa...playing 2 Defensive Mids and not Benayoun was nuts....Torres had an off day but still...Manure won in a stroll....

Side note - did you see the Messi goal on Sunday....youtube it.....against Zaragoza....brilliant - he is far better than Shrek but gets half the publicity

Champions League's last draw is out. French are in one slot, 1999 final repeated, an English team whom lack English player meets Spanish team whom aren't politically Spanish, and Italian-Russian classic..

Meh.  I've given up on 'Pool.  Rafa will be gone.  He will be gone to Juventas next season.  And the team will probably be dismantled and not look anything like itself for the next 3-5 years.  I truly think 'Pool will not see the top of the table for close to 1/2 a decade unless some drastic things happen.  1) the Yanks need to go, 2) the new owners actually back whatever coach they hire and 3) they get a coach that knows what he is doing.  I see at least 1 if not 2 of these not happening meaning we will be mid table obscure for a while.

I just looked up the goal.  Very nice indeed.

I saw those draws.  Should make for some interesting footy.

MLS has started.

zed, did you catch the match last night.  Looks like Seattle has picked up where they left off last year.  And Philly does not look too good.

You bet I did! But I'm afraid I agree with you that Philly didn't look good so it's hard to take too much away from the match. Was happy to see the unbelievable fan support continue this year--over 36,000 attended.

The game last night was supposed to happen 11 years ago.. BM shows a lot of discipline (like a German team does) and well aware of collaboration. Van Bommel has shows that he worthy of the position and to be the next lead on the national team.

Carsten Jancker must be happy with the result.

Tonight is the Italian-Russian rivalry

Will be interesting to see just how injured Shrek (Rooney) is.  Not only damage their chances in CL but also in the PL.

That's hilarious, thanks. At least he had the grace to laugh at himself.

I was actually going to post today about that incredible performance yesterday by Messi. Fantastic. Barca made Arsenal look pretty bad--and they're in the hunt for the EPL. And of course ManUre faces the possibility of elimination today also. I've got that one set to record as well.

Haven't checked the TV listings, but hopefully we'll get the Real/Barca game Saturday.

Re the Arse comment - they were missing Fabregas, Song, RVP, Arshavin, Gallas - half of their best 11...and had to play Silvestre in center back...it was a total mis-match to start with so hardly a surprise that Barca won easily..lets see how they do against Inter....who will be more organized defensively thanks to the Great One. Messi is the worlds best player, no doubt - and put on a show.
