wgraves7582 - 2009-12-09 7:26 AM Stacie you are too funny - the smell comment.

That is why I train solo most of the time also - not many of my friends care to ride bikes for 2 hours on a Tuesday night in December.

I don't know why?

more like a complete DORKFACE.

i just get all googly ooogly around this guy sometimes....which is just fine...its just i act all stupid occassionally - but then we have the uber intellegient, deeply spiritual conversations and then im like 'ooooh.  you smell good'  BAH!

good thing he has a wry sense of humor.

any other person would be like, cya.....crazy lady.

as for the 2 hr bike ride in December.

you're just calling all the wrong people.

id ride bikes.  in December.  for two hours.  with you.....and id tell ya you smelled good....if indeed you did.  smell good.  that is.

Embarassed
stacieb

I have never been accused of not smelling nice.  It must be the deodorant I use because Dorkface is definitely cologne free - unless you count chlorine!

I will take you up on that bike ride offer one of these days when I have a job in Pittsburgh!

when you movin?

job is optional.  bike ride is REQUIRED.

you.  me.  on bikes.  hitting the open road.  its a date.

mwah!

skrtrnr - 2009-12-08 5:18 PM i did absolutely nothing TRI/TRNG related today.

i had my favorite dish at the Cheesecake Factory - Thai Lettuce Wraps - finished up with Red Velvet Cheesecake.  oh yummmmo.

then, it was just an uber nice day.

nothing in partictular to do & nowhere in particular to be except where i wanted to be when i wanted to be there with people that i really enjoyed being with.

just nice.
stacieb

Stacie you took a well deserved rest day! THAT IS ENTIRELY TRI RELATED!!!

yay.  come to think of it ANN, your right.

and i got to sit across a table from Mr. Expensive leather Shoes.

wanna know the first thing that came out of my mouth, after i gave him a hug and said hello.

'you smell sooo good'

he did too.  smell good.

now who's the DORKFACE?  Embarassed

to which he responded, 'yay.  im freshly bathed' with a wink.

chuckle.

so.  yes.  well deserved rest day.  TOTALLY tri related.  Innocent

yep.

thats my story and im sticking to it!
stacieb

That's funny Stacie. I always notice when I think a guy smells good too.

you too ANN?

LOL.

it must be a thing with me, cuz its like the first thing i notice....

that.  and their shoes.

skrtrnr - 2009-12-09 8:22 AM ok.  my friend that im supposed to run with today called.

i didnt hear my phone ring.

wtFLIP??

and she said that she wanted to still run (BAH!) but that she wasnt sure 'how far' she could go....

and then i thought, im changing a doctors appt/rearranging my schedule to run with you and your not sure you gonna run the entire time?

and ive been watching the weather report....i dont think she knows how sucktastic its supposed to get later on today, about the time were scheduled to run.

so im thinking screw that.

but theres a part of me that feels guilty too.....

i called, left her a message (she works night turn...so she's going right to bed...) that i wouldnt be able to meet her today...

im just gonna go out and run by myself.

i want/need to get this run in, the whole distance and w the chance that she'll back out when she sees how crappy the weather is when we were 'supposed' to meet, im thinking she'll back out anyways....

... i was going up to meet her/in her area to run.  i just dont want to get dumped to run the final whatever by myself.

i guess im just not good a being flexible with these sorts of things, w/ people.

i admit it.

this is why.  i prefer.  to train alone.
stacieb

You did the right thing. Chances are she would have bailed anyway.

I do my training by myself for reasons like this. I have no problem though going for a leisurely bike ride, or jogging with someone if they want me to go with them. Then I go at whatever pace and distance that is comfortable for them.

i think youre right....

and im the same way.  one of the most enjoyable rides i had this summer was w a meet group.  my DH and led a group of about 18-20 people, some of them complete newbies to riding on the road, through the city over to one of our favorite resturants by the river.

serious one.

and i dont want you to blow smoke up my wazoooo, and im not 'fishing' for compliments...i really really want/need to know.

you all know me in a limited way/context, but....

would you pay me a reasonable fee (this is hypothetically speaking) to be your LIFE/WELLNESS COACH?  [let me add, since i read BILLs for response....this is in GENERAL life/wellness sense, not fitness-related, though it could be....]

in other words, do you think that i have what it takes to support/encourage/facilitate people as they go about setting goals and making changes in their lives?

seriously.

i wanna/need to know, if you see that 'in' me or not.

Yes. Yes I see THAT in you.

thats what i think, but thanks for being the one to say it that DEE.  i appreciate that. i really do.

ive heard it said that your true calling is the 'job' that would/could do w/out being paid...

though being able to generate an income AND have an uber flexible schedule (to accomodate being home w the kids AND my training schedule...) would be AWFULLY NICE too.

Well I will add Stacie that fitness is part of wellness so that has to play a part in it.  No one can be truly happy if they are not also exercising.  Our bodies were created for it - Re/create/ion means time to recreate ourselves literally.

I missed the point of more along the lines of counseling but I still think you would be great at it anyways!

yay. i totally agree BILL and i think for a lot of folks that would certainly be a part of the goal planning process.

i just didnt want to come across like i was jonesin to be a fitness instructor/coach in that sense.

but yes. your absolutely right wellness WOULD include lots of things including fitness.

i see myself being able to facilitate people in a lot of different areas, all coming under the umbrella of personal change.

im still getting 'clarity' but  the more i think about it the more excited i get!

i think i just might be on to something.

I'm tired today...even with my 9.5hr sleep last night...

Swimming last night went better than it has in the recent past. We did alot of technique! Need to get my freestyle back to racing level...my backstroke is doing alright I think....but I need my freestyle back (Its alright technically...but needs to be better!). Need to qualify for provincials...Need to get to A times at sometime in the near future...I'm pretty sure I can handle B times...I need to go 2:30 for 200 free...woooo...need to get speedy again!

Going to figure out my competition plan for the new year soon!....I have Jan-March pretty much figured...its the April-Sept I need to work on!

when you get speedy, can you come teach me MELISS.

good luck w competition planning.

have any ideas what  events youd like to do?

disturbed275 - 2009-12-09 1:06 PM Hi ghoulies!  I'm still stuck at home.  Apparently we've gotten anywhere from 12-17 inches of snow depending on who you ask.  My landlord has done nothing to clear out the parking lot and there's still a huge drift in front of my garage.  That and the drift in front of the front door has gotten much deeper.  Any thoughts of getting to work or the gym are definitely off the table.  I might have to invest in a shovel if this is the sort of snow removal service my landlord is going to provide.

I did manage an ST session so I didn't feel like a complete slug today.  But now it's time to head back to the couch and throw in another movie

x2
There is a real need for that for a lot of people. and you would be ggrrrreeeeeaaatttt.
Lots of folks want to make changes but don't have the self assurance they need nor do they have the skills or encouragement needed. Life coaches, health coaches, help many to become what a lot of folks take for granted- self assured (not = egomaniac, just no self hatred) healthy people!

i agree 100% ROBIN.  i think that's one of the exciting parts as i contemplate this 'career move'

there IS a real need.

most people wouldnt necessarily go and see a professional counselor, nor do they 'need' to see one (though my stance is that everyone needs 'shrunk' at least a few times in their lifetime...)

that's the 'beauty' of coaching.  its less...i dunno whats the word...'intimidating'....perhaps more 'user friendly' in the sense that theres no need to admit theres a problem&theres not a stigma thats 'attached' to it, ya know.

coaching just has a different feel to it...and i think, i would be able to 'come alongside' MORE people as a result of being a coach than i ever could as a professional counselor (though the 'skills' i know will come in UBER handy)

thanks for your words of encouragement/support too!  i really appreciate you ROBIN.

alrighty.

i feel the need to 'cleanse' my SUCK A RIFFIC DAY!

heres the math.

1 broken zipper on my running tights
+
1 melted lid to my fuel belt bottle so the lid doesnt fit anymore
+
1 replacement non-fuel belt specific bottle that POPPED OPEN every time i took a drink
+
1 iPod that sat on the charger last night and didnt charge....wtFLIP?
+
6 mile run that ended up being 6.8 miles cuz i took a 'wrong turn'
+
4-5-6 (i lost count) 'walk breaks' in my 6.8 cuz i felt so friggin sh^tastic
+
0 gatorade cuz my kids drank my last bottle even i expressly told them NOT too
+
12 swedish that did f-ing nothing to help me, fuel-wise.
=
THE MOST SUCK A RIFFIC RUN TO DATE.

add to that....heading to the Y after my run.  doing my ST session (which went 'fine') then heading off to take a shower, only to find that i forgot my UNDERGARMENTS.

yep.  no guchies and no brassier.

WTFRIGGING FLIP???

went to the chiropractor afterwards.  (wont tell ya what i did to do w/out undies and brassier)

the doctor asked how i was doing.

and i literrally started to cry on the table.

fortunately i was face down.

he asked if there was anything they could do.

yay.

DO YOU HAVE AN ADJUSTMENT FOR A FRIGGING SUCKTASTIC DAY?

they were fresh out.

damnitall.

but again.  like i said. i came home.  and read the posts from this afternoon.  the SUCK evaporated INSTANTLY.

YOU SERIOUSLY MADE MY DAY.

and in retrospect.

im uber PROUD of me.

though there were MANY REASONs to just quit and call it day, i stuck it out and finished the run.

and some things are important

just to finish.

todays run was one of those things.

yay me!

and in retrospect.

im uber PROUD of me.

though there were MANY REASONs to just quit and call it day, i stuck it out and finished the run.

and some things are important

just to finish.

todays run was one of those things.

yay me!
