dimplespoo - 2010-10-14 7:40 PM another 4.5 mile run and more strength done. Up over 41% for both. I have it mapped out so I will hit both. Especially with the runs I am increasing a mile a week per plan up to my 1/2 mary...
Feeling a bit better after getting out. Little nervous for an 8 mile run on Saturday.
Hope everyone else had a great day.

When is the half mary?
Relax, leave a water bottle and gel in your mailbox or something, pace for an even run, break it into chunks if you can. I have various combinations of roads in my neighborhood that never take me more than a couple miles from home but I can do up to 5 miles before I have to repeat the route. Takes out the boredom factor.
Power up the ipod if you like running with one, it helps break up the monotony of a long and often lonely run.
My 1/2 Mary is the 21st of November
(I turn 34 on the 19th so what better way to celebrate
)

I ran the Route 66 1/4 Marathon in Aug and now it is time for the Route 66 Half and Full Mary. My first 1/2 every.
I live on a loop so I run the loop - like I replied to Rachel
(I hope I remember the name right - if I don't sorry I am terrible with names
) it will take me 12 laps. Last weekend I did 10.5 laps for 7 miles and I fueled every 2 miles
(every 3 laps
) when I got back to the house - water/gatoraide on the mailbox with shot bloks. I tried a powerbar gel
(green apple
) before hand and could only stomach 1/2 of it and then it gave me the shakes. Last week I took the Mp3 and it died after the first lap and I did well without it. Tonight I ran 4.5 without it and didn't miss it so I might not need it.
I ordered a pack with a 22 oz bottle and a pocket for nutrition - that goes on the back of my waist. I hope it gets here before Saturday but if it doesn't I will stay close to home. If it does I want to go back down to the path along the Oklahoma River. It is a 6 mile out paved 5' wide path that I usually do but last week they were having a regatta so I ran at home. OH well - where ever I am at I need to practice fuel/hydration.
Thanks for the tips - I need all I can get. Total newbie trying to run a 2:30 first half mary. According to last years time I will be in the bottom 1/3 of my age group but oh well.
