Ouch! It's cold out there today! Wind chills are -4 but temp 5. I went out this a.m. and had planned to run long but after last nights weights, decided a nice easy run would be good to keep loose...like maybe 30-40 mins...but after the first 6 or so mins I knew it was not gonna be an easy run
My nose was getting numb so I pulled up my gaiter but then my sunglasses got fogged and not only fogged but FROZEN fogged...so here I am running with my sunglasses hanging down my nose so I can see and by now my fingers are feeling a bite so at 2 miles I said enough. Maybe I can figure a way to wear a neck tie around just my nose LOL

Oh, frozen fogged is the worse.

Coldest morning of the year, so far. -18F, windchill was around -34F. Got my winter gear all figured out so nothing was cold. Had to stop once to warm Brewer's foot up after a potty break in the deep snow.

I wear glasses, so also have problems with them getting fogged up when I wear my face mask.

Today is the kind of  day when you can throw a cup of boiling water out the back door and watch what happens....well here in the midwest where it is colder than cold!  Last night I was afraid my mask was frozen to my face!  It was pretty nasty out there!  I lasted 20 minutes for my walk-I wanted to go 45, but the winds were up there and it was below zero.

BRRRRR!
try blowing soap bubbles in this weather, too!  pretty cool!

Nichi

I might as well throw in the towel on this challenge -- it's only snowed twice since the challenge began and temps haven't been very cold, except when it was single digits for a few days and I refused to run in that.  I am getting lots of outside miles on my road bike though  :-)

Missed a good day for points today. I spent the morning plowing snow and them my daughter had a half day of school so I wasn't able to get out this afternoon. Now my wife is off to work for the evening so if I get a run in it will be around 10 tonight. The up side is tomarrow is suppose to be colder and I can get a quick couple miles in before work, and a ride on the bike after work.

Guess that means you are safe for another day Nichi.

WEeeeowww! Cold!
Face mask froze to a hard shell from my breathing. Would pull it down every so often (hate having my mouth and nose covered) but was forced to put back with the temps this am.
Snow and cold and wind...what a great day for challenge points LOL

Bring on the frozen football games on Sunday! Go Pack!

Cheeseheads Unite!

Got a 10 mile ski in this morning. With the cold weather still not getting a good glide. Good thing about getting my ski in early, I had the trails to myself. That way no one else saw me walking up the hills.

I did see a couple people camping out there in a tent, it was below 0!

Thank you crappy winter weather challenge for getting me out of bed at 6:00 a.m. to run so that I could get some points before it got to warm outside.

I know what you mean!!!  Hard to compete the the Canadians, Cheeseheads and the folks in the Northeast this year.

Maybe you can catch me though, we can have a Colorado version.

Lenny I just scored 1000 points for my below zero commute to work.  Should score close to that tonight also.

Too energy sapping to do it daily right now so you will have a chance to put some ground in between us tomorrow.

Snowbike should ship end of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dang.

Got a ski in at lunch time. Was finally warm enough that I was able to get a good glide. Had to ski on the snowmobile trails, but was still able to cover the 6 miles in 52 minutes.

Did my first snowshoe race this weekend up in Traverse City, MI and it was a blast. Aside from downhill skiing, this is the most fun I've ever had in the snow (and it was my first time on snowshoes).

Temps were cold and the snow was deep powder, so the family 'shoed for almost 6 hours over Sleeping Bear Dunes and Sand Lakes Quiet Area all weekend. That is, when we weren't wine tasting up Old Mission Peninsula. Big points (no, not for the wine).

x2 - did you subtract the wine drinking variable before you tallied your points??? LOL

I believe my quote during the tour was, 'this was so much fun and it's totally worth like a bizillion CWWC points!' That was when I decided not to tally points until later

Still haven't figured out which distance to do for the Birkie. I am starting to think I will do the 50K. I was looking at the cutoff times, I have 7 hours to get to the 44K mark. So if just take my time I should be able to finish. The only thing that has been me nervous are the hills.

Do the 50k. Unless you think you are going to get injured doing the half or want to be competitive in the half then might as well make a day of it.

Ok, that's more reasonable -- but then I haven't looked at the spreadsheet lately.  I'll have to tally up my points for the last week or so and see where we are :-)
