4 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels Thanks for all the useful info. Does the 198lb include the weight of the bike? I am currently 185ish and race time around 180 range so It would make a difference with considering the frame and accesories on the bike. |

Extreme Veteran 459 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels Grungir - 2012-02-13 1:17 PM Let me preface this by saying I am not a super competitive triathlete... im a consistent MOPer and am happy with that.
So my questions are: Are the ceramic bearings worth it? We wrote an article about our ceramic bearings on our blog. I think it will help you decide if ceramic bearings are for you. Ceramic Bearing Article What about the depth... would I be OK going 90/90 or would a 60/90 setup be better for someone like me (average bike handling skills)? Also keep in mind that right now i am riding a roadie with clipons (Felt AR4)
Front Wheel
Rear Wheel In the end the FLO 60 and FLO 90 are both very aero wheels and any of the combos, 60/60, 60/90, 90/90 will make great choices that are much faster than a standard wheelset. The aerodynamics of the FLO 60 and 90 are very similar... so... if you have your heart set on any of the above combos, you really can't go wrong with any of them.
All the best, |

You can ignore the weight of the bike and just consider rider weight for our recommendations. Unless of course you like to carry bricks on on your bike Take care, |

Good luck with your launch. It's been great watching you guys get this off the ground.

Master 2372 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels Grungir - 2012-02-13 3:17 PM Are the ceramic bearings worth it? Good article here about halo bikes and a small blivet in there about the inclusion of ceramic bearings in them. Perhaps that will help you with your question. |

Pro 4353 Wallingford, PA | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels I found this article on ceramic bearings. Seems like it might be a worthwhile upgrade.... Question for you bike gurus out there -- I have a Powertap Pro+ rear hub, which I believe has steel bearings. I will race with this powertap rear wheel + disc cover, so I'm not sure ceramic bearings for the front would make any difference for me. Thoughts?? |

144 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels 60/60 or 60/90? Too many decisions... Discounting the fact that the 60/90 would look much cooler, why not go 60/60? The aero data doesn't seem to show much advantage in the 90 over the 60 and it is adding extra weight. The 60 rear would also be more useful in crosswinds and for things like crit riding. |

ROY There will be 20 color options available for pre-order at no additional cost. We've added 10 new ones that I think will be a hit! They'll be available on the 20th if you've signed up with a cool interactive color swapper. |

Or does it not make a difference, or is this just a bad idea? If you are considering ceramic bearings for 1 wheel, I would recommend the rear wheel. This is because it experiences higher loads. I hope that helps, |

Canadian_Flo - 2012-02-11 1:50 PM 2paz - 2012-02-11 10:33 AM If you need a person to distribute them from Canada...I would love to help out a fellow Canadian. I don't have any business but could be the "in-between" for all your Canadian customers I'm hopefully going to get a Flo 90 front with a Flo Disc for the rear Thanks for the offer. We are not using any distributors and are going to sell everything from our website. Nothing personal, just the way we are set up. Selling from the US to Canada would incur a VAT tax wouldn't it? Having a Canadian distributor would be cheaper for your customers.

We *might* incur a tax with a USPS shipment (seems to depend on the CBSA agent's mood....) and things are rarely cheaper here..... |

In the end no. To have a distributor in Canada I either have to have a 3rd party company facilitate that, or set up our own warehouse and staff it. Both options add considerable cost and would cause our product cost to go up. I would imagine using separate distribution locations would end up in an even higher price for the customer. Each time our product changes hands, the price go up. Here's an image to help illustrate that... |

Regular 67 Parker | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels I am torn between a 60/60 or 60/90. I am a little guy (5'9" & race at about 135lbs). My last 70.3 I averaged 21.1mph. I am buying these wheels for triathlons from sprint to 140.6. Triathlon is the main reason I am buying these but I would also love to throw them on my road bike every now and then. I also plan on getting a wheelcover for the rear. I know that either combo will be much better than my training wheels that I have been racing on so I just want to post this and get some people opinions. I have read and reread Flo's responses on this so I just want to get everyone else’s .02. So at my weight and speed what would you get? P.S. I am leaning toward the 60/90 basically because it is a toss up and I like how the 90 rear looks. |

237 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling Wheels I don't see the advantage to the 90's. I am going to order two 60's. This will work for road riding. For tris throw on a rear wheel cover. My transition is not wheel cover friendly so I might get a disc for the back too. If you however don't want a disc and don't want a wheel cover, and don't plan on using it a lot for road races, the 60/90 combo would be fine. The wind tunnel data did not convince me that the 90 is better however. Edited by nickwisconsin 2012-02-15 12:58 PM |

Veteran 197 | Subject: RE: Flo Cycling- Group buy? I've been following the other thread religiously for many months through those automatic emails I get from BT. Note to Administrators - you might want to consider a post in a thread explaining that it will be frozen or moved to another thread rather than just deleting or entirely moving a thread that has been around for over a year. All of a sudden yesterday the links just took me to an error page, now they simply take you to the BT forums general page. (On a positive side, by posting this message I should once again be getting those automatic emails for this replacement thread!) |
