I love the look on this guys face.  (I pretty much have the same look right now)  Despite being ready for nearly every contingency,  stuff will happen.    Ya just gotta "deal with it when it comes"    Good thing to keep in mind.

I have a big work project that I "Thought" would be completed before my Half Iron (Door County)   now my event (and a mini vaca for my fam) is in serious Jeopardy and we may not be able to go.      This year its par for the course for me.      My plan is to ride it out to the last minute and plan as if the race is going to happen for me.    If not, I will have to abort, and will drop in to Branson 70.3  should it come down to it.        But I will soldier on.  I'm good at that.  one way or another, one foot in front of the other.      That's why I love this pic.  And hey the guy even looks like me pretty much

The work thing is after this:

My dog Bones bit my daughter Sarah last Sunday night  Punctured the skin went fairly deep.   She's ok physically (mentally will take a while

We returned Bones back to the Greyhound Kennel.

What happened is that all of a sudden lately he became very very possessive of objects.   He would take this and that.  We did do our best to remove anything that we remotely thought he would take.    Well whenever he would take something that was not his   we would say "drop"   he learned to drop items  fairly quickly.    But sometimes he would get stubborn about it.    Occasionally me or Eileen would then hold him by his collar and sternly tell him to DROP.    Well this time he had grabbed Sarah's flip flop.   She shouted at him to drop!  he didn't.   She then grabbed his collar because she had seen us model that behavior.     Well Bones did not like that, and turned and bit her arm close to the elbow area.

So as sweet as he really is,  and perhaps even though we did not train him correctly,   we have zero tolerance for a dog that would hurt anyone under any circumstance.

What's really Ironic is that Eileen and Melissa had just gone out to get some ice cream.  When they got back we were about to watch an episode of "the dog whisperer"   to research/learn to improve how we handle him.

So we are all quite sad about it.    But this is life ya know?   Stuff happens.   We will really miss him.   Hope they are able to find the "right" family for him.        Thanks to Chris and Q for  the phone call, it helped.

Daaavvee,
I am so very sorry about Bones. I know he meant a lot to you guys. I can only reiterate what the others said. It was definitely the right choice. My brother had a dachshund that they loved. She was theirs from 6 weeks old and all five of his kids were crazy about her. She was very temperamental though and bit a couple of the kids through the years. Nothing really terrible but broke skin at least a couple times with really no provocation. I told him several times that I would get rid of that dog because I wouldn't have one that bites. When she was about 3-4 years old a neighbor's little girl came over and just simply tried to pet her. The dog just lost it and bit the heck out of the little girl's hand. Fortunately for my brother the neighbor didn't sue him but the little girl ended up having to have several surgeries on her hand because of where the dog bit her- ligaments and tendons were torn. My brother was wracked with guilt. He is a very responsible dog owner but he really thought the few bites to his kids weren't that big of a deal. He then had to have the dog put down ( the one thing the other parents insisted on) and everyone was just heartbroken all the way around. He still hasnt really forgiven himself for not having the dog placed in a better situation from the beginning. You just never know for sure what any dog will do but if they start behaving aggressively and start biting they really are a ticking bomb. And the explosions they can cause can be devastating, even deadly.
So you did the most loving thing you could for Bones and quite possibly saved him from himself if that makes sense.

Still doesn't make it easy but like TJ (I think) already said - doing the right thing usually isn't easy,

(hugs) to your family and Bones,

Shelly

OK...well this is lame and cool all at the same time.  I told you guys the little Tri I did a few weeks ago was very small and they didn't give us division place info?  Well they finally did.  Here's the cool part...

I won my division!     The lame part...well, I was first of four...so I'm not sure how huge the accomplishment is, but winning anything is cool!  And for my accomplishment, I win a pair of socks from Runner's Forum.  How hilarious is that?!?!  Overall for women I was 5th out of 15.  Again, sort of cool, sort of lame!

The Tri on 6/24 is out for me, unfortunately.  DH is travelling this week, my girls are in musical theatre camp which is causing me to get to work late/leave early a bunch of times, 16 y/o pain in the arse son is making me crazy, plus we have a 24 hour Relay For Life event on Saturday into Sunday.  I just can't make it work this week, much as I would like to.  Soooo...I'm on the hunt for another race I can do in July/August.  Still excited to capitalize on the positive vibes involved with slaying the dragon swim.

BTW...I was so wrapped up in my own accomplishment that I forgot to mention that both my girls did the Kid Tri the same day I did.  They both were awesome and my 8-year-old, Liza, won her division too!  We Petersson women are FIERCE!  Very proud of both of them!

Had a good fast run today.  Taking a day off tomorrow and looking forward to another good run super early Thursday AM.  Take care everyone!

And I don't mean to brag, but I got a new rav4 bento box for my du last weekend. IRS ain't gonna hear anything about it. But frankly I would have preferred new socks, 'cause you know, socks are always needed.

You just got a comment on that report! I think you have more gas in the can on your bike based on your run and there's some awesome stuff about dolphin diving, so go read it Wink.

Congrats on your race...

OK folks, for someone who will gladly swim/bike/run for hours on end, I am horribly lazy. So since I am too lazy to look at all of your logs...tell me...

Who's racing this weekend???

OK, I'll go first. Dave, Chris (my DH) and I are all racing at Bigfoot this weekend. Super excited because we are staying at a hotel with a water park so it's fun for the kids too. Boys are doing the OLY, I'm doing the sprint, because I wasn't quite ready for 1500m swim, and because it's what I do. I love the idea of going long, but I'm not that good at it. Sprinting is for me!

Anyway, 'fess up, what's on tap for the weekend?

Hi Q,

Thanks for the comment!

How is the recovery going for you?

As far as racing this weekend; I am not.  Are you?  To be hoenst, I tried to convince my wife to go with me to Pleasant Prairie for their Tri on Sunday as an Anniversary (which is Sunday) gift for me; didnt go over so well when I said I wanted to race it.

Hahahah, it took me almost an entire summer to hook DH, here's hoping you can get her all into the idea of an anniversary tri next year. We are loving the Bigfoot Tri for the Lake Geneva destination and some recreation (waterpark for the kids) to keep the families happy...keep working on it bud!

I'm racing a sprint near Boston. Used the race as an excuse to go out there to visit my sister. My mom and children are here visiting too.
