Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread yeah, that's the one, joe friel--the other one i was talking about, i just found it. it's called triathlon training in four hours a week. by eric harr. that's the one i acutally bought. the other one (your first triathlon) i just got from the library. you can get pretty good deals on both of them though on amazon. hopefully i'll go out running again today. yesterday was awesome, but i can't ride on that wave TOO long. plus i MIGHT need a little recovery run. i'm a TAD sore |

My goal was 35 miles, and I'm now at 43.37. Trying to decide if I should increase my goal, but don't want to overestimate and then not reach it. Life is getting busy between now & Oct. 31, so sticking with my 10K running plan may be harder the next few days. Masochist, schmasochist -- aren't we all??!! |

Veteran 288 Owings, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread kns57 - 2007-10-24 4:51 PM I think Laurie passed her goal earlier this week or at the end of last week. Even with "son issues" Hope those are getting better. My son is 23 and has turned back into a human being again. Got to love them. Getting a little better. He's a freshman in college, and he hasn't slept more than a few hours at a time since he got there in August. He's swimming Division I, so they've been pounding them with daily double workouts and lots of yardage on top of classes, 8 hours mandatory study hall per week, and the normal freedom issues associated with leaving home. On Monday, he walked into the health center and begged them for something to help him sleep. Ambien seems to be working the last two nights. He saw a neurologist today, who says "there's something wrong when an 18yo athlete can't sleep." You think? Guy must be a genius... Sleep study is being scheduled so we can get to the bottom of it -- might be restless leg syndrome or sleep apnea, both of which run in my family. Poor kid. Never had these issues before now. It can't be homesickness - he's only 45 mins. away and he comes home every weekend! We haven't been able to miss him yet. |

It's an exciting night when I can get 6 or more hours of sleep. Hope he gets some good help before it gets to out of control. |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hi, Im just writing a note here to get feedback regarding those people affected by the fires in California as Mother Nature is an unforeseen circumstance that we could not have planned for with this challenge. They way I see it there are 3 groups: I have some ideas on how we can address this but the key suggestions are: Those affected by smoke can use the gym or elliptical or treadmill to meet their goal OR if you do not have access to these facilities the above will apply. Please let me know via PM or in the team leaders thread anyone affected and what you want to do ASAP as the end of October is almost upon us. Please stay safe |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Yay did a 5k in 28:15 tonight, dropping 2:45 off my previous best 8 weeks ago. Mile 1 8:58 Mile 2 8:58 Mile 3: 9:24... (had to drop down to a slower speed for a lap but ended at starting pace.) Drat still need to drop another 2 min 15 sec to catch up with lyz. Not gona happen for long time... but don't slow down lyz you will see me catching up behind ya 8). I only need 33 more miles to meet my biking goal of 200 miles for October as well 8). Have read enough plans to break the code and will construct my own plan based on the past 2 months template and extrapolate up with the formulas. If I don't get too fatigued I want to be able to do 1 long run (10k), 1 long bike ride (40 mile), 1 short brick (14 mile bike, 5k) and one longer brick (26 mile bike 10k), short run, short bike per week by the end of it. I'm hopelessly not close to that atm, hoping to survive a 22 mile bike 5k this weekend for the first time. Hard to believe it has only been 10 weeks since a 2 mile jog was pushing it. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread YAY KENDRA!!! you made it!!!! i KNEW you would!!! you're a ROCKSTAR!!! STEVE: awesome times!! you'll catch me no problem! i have to slow down a little anyway, those times the other day, that was seriously pushing it. my regular jogging times are more like 11 mms. my USUAL speed runs are more like your times. between 8:3 and 9:3 i'm almost kind of doubting myself on those crazy times the other day, i'm going to check the mileage again on the satelite thing. i am pretty sure it was right, but it seems sorta wacky i think that's 5 or 6 of us now that have reached 100%--we all so totally rocked this challenge. i'm so looking forward to november now. i posted on that one that my goal is to run 75 miles and bike for 2 hours (lol-i have to get back on that thing EVENTUALLY, may as well throw it in to the challenge ) and unofficially i'd still really like to drop these last ten pounds that i haven't been able to shed. i might have to take a page from steve's book, and just drastically cut calories. i'm still nursing the baby though, so i can't go TOO nuts. hooray apples :D |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Grats KNS! Our goals are our own, each of us are pushing ourselves here and that is what is important, not that we obtain 200 or 700 miles in any given activity for the month, but that we continue to do something towards our goals. I am sorry to hear about your father, likewise both of you will be in my prayers. I put in my goals for November as well, it is a very busy month with Thanksgiving and multiple trainings etc. so it is hard to predict if /how many days I will need to miss in my routine. Here are my goals: Run, walk or crawal 65 miles Bike 225 miles Strength training... I think it was 5 hours. And weight loss to 150 or lower... been fluctuating above 150 and want to just drop that last chunk into the 140 something land, even with Thanksgiving. Holidays suck for routine and weight. Oh well, hrm how many miles does it take to work off, 1/4 pound of turkey, green beens with butter and motzarella cheeze sause, corn on the cob, a nice hot roll or 2 with butter, baked potato with sour cream and bacon, 1 or 2 not more than 3 glasses of wine, apple pie with a slice of cheeze and a scoop of vanilla icecream ? I am thinking thats like 15 miles run and 25 miles biked. K back to work now. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hey Everyone - I am back from Vegas and I managed to get in 6 miles when I was there. I am still in last place as far as percentages (81.25%) but don't worry - I need 7.5 miles to reach goal and I have 7 days to go until the 31st so I will get there if not before the last day. I promise. Congrats to us for a first place tie this past week. WHA HOO. And congrats to KNS57 (sorry I forgot your name) for hitting 30 miles and 100% of her goal today. If someone else did to I apologize. I am working on about 4 hours sleep and she was the last one on my roster and the only one I remember. So far at 100% are - Baowolf, Dee, Jason, Klgray, lyssa and KNS57. The rest of us around 80% and higher with all about 6-7 miles left to go. I have updated the spreadsheet. As you can tell in the week 1-4 total column I have kept track of total mileage you have run so far (even if it is over your goal). Since we can't count over 100% that is why the % of goal is at 100%. I thought you would like to see total mileage instead of goal mileage if you went over.
