Best movie seen this year anyone?

Slumdog was outstanding, though I haven't seen many more.  Benjamin Button was pretty good, too.

You mean, like, in a movie thearter?  Hmmmmm...Bolt?  No, wait, Tristan started crying at the sad part.

Actually, I really liked The Dark Knight.  I hated all the other Batman movies, so I didn't expect to like it, but it was good.

Definitely enjoyed the Dark Knight, too.  Even though I think Christian Bale kinda over acts in it.

I thought they took the growly menacing voice thing too far.  Half the time I was struggling to understand what he was saying.  Enjoyed the movie though.

We watched Doubt recently - great acting there and another good movie, but Meryl Streep is just tiny bit over the top imo (speaking of overacting).  Also an exploding nun or two would definitely have added some excitement.

I guess I was a little disappointed with the Oscar noms this time around... some very good movies like B Button and Slumdog but nothing that really made me think "this is the best movie I have seen for a year."

I really liked the ones from the previous year - No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood etc.

I thought the Dark Knight was really good although I covered my eyes a lot.  Heath Ledger was amazing - a super creepy character.  I thought Charlie Wilson's War was good.  I've seen other movies but can't remember them.  Oh we saw Tropic Thunder - it was ok.  Oh and we watched Wanted a few nights ago.  My husband just wanted to see Jolie's butt.  That was another kindof odd movie like Hancock.  But lots of things were blown up esp. people's heads!

Christian Bale was in it?

Funny, the other characters were so strong Batman was almost a supporting role.  I can't really remember much about him.

I have to admit when I think of Batman I expect to see "Pow!" "Bam!" during the fight scenes.  I'm dating myself, aren't I?

Exploding nuns make everything better.

We tried very hard to see Road to Roubaix - a documentary about the crazy French cycling race.  It was playing at a local theater sponsored by a local bike shop.  But by the time we scrambled to get a sitter, it was sold out.  I was so bummed.  But they may do another showing in a few weeks.

You're not dating yourself at all.  I used to watch that show all the time after school.  And I still think about the words popping up on the screen when I see Adam West in The Simpsons.

My daughter was playing a remake of a song from the 80s and I told her I had had the original on a 45.  She says, "what's a 45?"  I'm feeling old this week.

I've even watched the Adam West Batman series.   The shark repellent was the best.

I only liked Madagascar for the penguins.  Nothing blew up.  (We are very fond of explosions.)  I haven't seen the second one yet.

We got Hancock last weekend, and didn't realize until it started playing that we had gotten the unrated version.  I had my hands over Tristan's ears for half the movie!  (But things blew up, so we liked it.)

there is a granny with a shot gun in Madagascar 2...she is good at blowing things up.

Yes there is.  That granny brought my son to tears when he thought she was going to blow away Alex (the lion) and his dad.

At least it turns out for the best in the end.

Debbie -

We may get that big snow yet!  It would be so funny if it snowed a bunch tonight since we were just talking about it earlier this week.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.  I know my kids are really want to go sledding.

BTW - how did you like Transformers?  My husband and I watched it again last night.  I love that movie!

We enjoyed the movie, and Tristan really loved it.  He's been playing with his transformers all weekend.

I am watching the weather.  They *say* we will get snow, but since the snowblower works now it will probably just rain.

They are predicting 4-8" here and since it's a day I'm home and the kids go to preschool for a few hours, it will probably snow and close school.  But it would be fun to take them sledding.

They are now telling us 10" - 14".  Could it be?  My kids are praying for a snow day.  It just occurred to me that tomorrow is a swim morning.  This could mess up my whole training schedule this week.

Well, karma strikes.  After saying we only get snow once every few years or so, my ride got snowed out this weekend.  It's all melted away now, though.

Are you sure that isn't code for "I was too hungover to get on my bike."?

We are getting a bunch of snow and the kids are going crazy.  They want to go outside and play but it's still snowing - sideways at times and butt a*s cold.

Hopefully the local pool will open up this evening so I can get my swim in.

We got

3

lousy

inches.

The rest of the state has 10"-12".  Just our area got *lucky*.

I had to put off my swim until later because the Y is closed.

Heh...  I wasn't exactly in the best of conditions, but I was ready to go.  It actually felt good to get a little more sleep, and it's the first long ride that I've missed since I started the plan in December.  So, I'm not going to fret over it too much.

I am glad the snow is completely gone, though, and it looks like we'll have temps nearing 80 degrees this weekend

My back isn't at 100% yet...so lauren (the masters coach) is going to be writing me adapted workouts.    I made the mistake of trying a bit of butterfly this morning.  It was very stupid of me.  I only did a few yards, but that is all it took to immediately make it sore again.
