Happy Friday!!!!!

Not too much planned on the training front for this weekend.  Although Sunday I'm doing a 5k, which also happens to be my favorite 5k of the year!  This may something to do with the free beer and food that follows   What's everyone else got to tap.

Monday I'm heading on vacation for the next 2 weeks.  Hooray!!  It's much needed and I think the only moment I'll feel more excited about this is when I leave the office today.  Anyway, just wanted to let you know that my disappearance is only temporary   and if I happen to find myself with internet access I'll pop in...funny how I have no problem with going without email for 2 weeks, but I'm getting twitchy already from possible BT withdrawal.  I should definitely have a chance to get in some workouts though.....runs and pool & ocean swims.

Why is it that some races go by your race day age, and others use your age as of the end of the current year??

I just got bumped up an age bracket!!  Surprised

Don't get me wrong, getting older doesn't really phase me and I'm actually excited about turning 30 (I know...not everyday that you hear that!).  I just thought I still had some more time to cruise the 25-29 bracket.

First and foremost....HAPPY FRICKIN' DOGGON' STINKIN' FRIDAY!!!

I must say that I am a little envious of you and I guess, everyone else in our group (except Todd - he's in his 30's).  I so wish I would have found this sport in my 20's.  I don't feel my age (most of the time) - this sport and staying active has helped with that significantly.  I just turned 39 earlier this month, and I am welcoming 40 as you seem to be welcoming 30.  My goal, back in 2006, was to be in as good or better shape at 40, then I was at 21.  At the time, it seemed like a unreachable goal, but now... I am really trying to surpass that goal and having so much fun doing it.  I kinda happy about move up an age bracket...because it means I get to leave the most competitive and usually the largest age group behind.  Not that the 40-44 group is that much easier... but at least I can be in the Master's Div at some runs... My Boston QT drops a little too... yeah!

I feel the same way about a 10K here in Houston.  The Bayou City Classic on 3/14.  It is my favorite run!  It's a huge race, with all kinds of revelry, costumed runners, centipede runners, and most importantly... the post race party is sponsored by a local brewery... Saint Arnold Beer - a personal fave!  Cold Beer and breakfast tacos at 9am after a good 10K... like heaven on earth!

I hope you have a wonderful vacation Kelli... I am sure I speak for all of us - vacation ENVY! Unwind, decompress, relax... whatever it takes.  We will live vicariously through you for the next couple weeks.  When you come back to reality - we will have some HIM training to keep tabs on!

Two keys things here.....
(1) Even though it wasn't in your 20's, you discovered triahtlon!!!  Think of all the people that never do....or the people who always say that they'd love to do a tri but never work up the courage to do it.  It's sounds like you're in pretty great shape, so as long as your bosy keeps working with you, you still have another 30+ years to keep doing tri's.

(2) You don't feel your age!!!   WOOO HOOO!!!  I'm a firm believer that age is just a number, and it means next to nothing.  What's more important is how you act & feel.

Sshhh...no talk about coming back to reality and HIM training .....I haven't even left yet!!  I actually thrilled to start training!!!!   But for my own sanity and for those around me (moreso for them) I'm putting it on the back burner and not thinking about it (ok, at least not spending the majority of my day thinking about it )

The one bit of training that I will stay consist with is 12 ounce curls

I think the new USAT rules are the age at the end of the year and I believe Ironman/70.3s adopted this rule too. Not 100% sure but I know all the races I've been in last year were this way.

I personally don't like it since it'll move me out of the slower 25-29 AG sooner!

Haha!  I'll be sure to have some photo documentation so I can piece together the hazy parts.

I'm heading to Australia.  I have a good friend that lives there.  I way overdue on visiting her and she's getting married, so time to head over!

Not that I've been counting, but T-minus 35 minutes until curl time!!!

Total tangent, but I went and got fitted for new running shoes today.  They determined that the arch of my left foot is collapsing worse than it was before, and I changed from an Asics shoe over to a Saucony.

They are super comfy, like running on clouds, but sweet jesus they're ugly.  Black, charcoal and peach.

*vomits*

I am so not going to coordinate my running outfits with those babies.

Thus far, it is one of my favorite places!!  I was there about 10 years ago.  Tried surfing then and just plain sucked at it.  Still had a blast with it though  I'm gonna give it another go and most likely get some lessons one day.
