I'm feeling much better today.  Yesterday was awful.  No details but I barely got off the couch all day.  So today it's time to get back on track.  The plan is to go down to the Y for a ride.

We had a sign of spring here yesterday..... bugs.  I guess my son found a mosquito in the back yard.  He said he also saw a bee.  It's still near or below freezing at night so I don't expect to see many others.  But it's a sign of what's to come!

We were finally able to get outside for a real ride today.  It was so nice.  We went through the orchards where there's few cars.   It was very pleasant to ride along the trees, old barns & a handful of cattle.  It was also chilly, 40F went we started.  The hills at the beginning were a challenge.  I don't think I ate or drank enough before starting and had trouble a few miles in.  Lesson learned.

So I have to brag a little about a cyclist from our little town, Tyler Farrar. He rides for Garmin-Slipstream.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYZ15iIdnKM

The video is from the finish of stage 3 in the Tirreno-Adriatico cycling race in Italy last week. I'm amused by the Italian commentators pronounciation of the last name, heavy on the R's.

Tyler FAR-AR-RRR-RA!!!  LOL!!! That's great!

Dragging today, skipped my workout yesterday to get caught up on domestic stuff and basically just to get some rest.  Happy Friday to everyone!

Morning!  Happy Spring everyone!  Looks like it's going to be a great weekend weather-wise here. Going to try for some long distances like we are supposed to do on the weekends,  right? Hope you all can do the same.

Welcome to the first day of Spring!!!!!!!!!  The warmth is coming.

I have nothing planned for today other than stretching.  My neck and shoulders are tight after yesterday's ride.  And the weekend is just some 20 or 30 minute stuff.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend.  Get outside and enjoy the sunshine if you can.

It's all a mater of positive thinking.  If we all wish real hard about it being spring, then it must be.   (oh and Tinkerbell won't die)

But will I have to run in ruby red shoes, and click my heels at the same time?

Now that would be a sight.

I took a leisurely 20' jog this morning.  I was just getting good and warmed up when my time was done.  Oh well.  One week to race day.

On the bad side of today, I burned the palm of my hand.  It's in a terrible location too...on the pad of the thumb and first finger.  The thumb part being the worst.  It's right where I rest my hands on the bike.  Not sure how I'm going to deal with it this week but I'm hoping it's feeling better by next Saturday.  Typing this is even challenging.  I can't rest my wrist on the desk.

Hope everyone else is having a better weekend.

Happy Monday all!

Had my first run with the new pup last night.  A nice slow 3 miler.  She did great.  Kept the pace real well despite the fact that she wants to smell everything around her.  She is still very skittish about the road, so we'll have to work on that, but I think she'll be great for the shorter runs this spring/summer.

Morning NUGS!  Our nice weather that was forecast for the weekend did not materialize, it was cold and rainy.  We had a couple of hours of sunshine and warmth on Saturday so I did some serious pruning of bushes and hauled branches out to the burn pile.

Sounds like some of you had nice weather and were able to get out for rides.  Nice!

Hello everyone.  Happy rainy spring day!

I brought my bike with me but the weather is so yucky I had to use the stationary recumbent here at my in-laws' house.  It was uncomfortable but I did my easy 30 minutes.

Race in 4 days and I'm very excited.

Stay focused!  The fun is just getting ready to start.  ALL those tuff winter workouts are getting ready to pay dividends....too bad the stock market isn't!

Invest in health!

Hey everybody...what happened to all the chatter?  Where is everyone?  Hope things are going according to plan.  Big (meaning lots of people) race this weekend. Hope the weather in Chicago cooperates.  So far it looks good.

Katie you still running?  What Corral are you in?

I'm still here!  I think I'm one of the few who is NOT racing this weekend.  Got fingers crossed for good weather and PRs for all of you.

I'm here but not as much this past week.  We've been dealing with family issues so I've been distracted.  It'll probably continue this way off & on for the next few months.

I have been able to continue training and think I'm ready for the race this weekend.  I've kinda freaked myself out though.  I looked at last year's results and the times are faster than I'd estimated for myself.  But maybe I'll be surprised.  Looks like it's a small event, ~30 individuals & 30 as relays.  Weather may be mixed.  The temp looks nice enough, 40-50F, but a little wind.  Really windy later in the day so I hope it doesn't start early.

How's everyone else's events or weekends look?
