Happy Tuesday everyone!  Tuesday is Torture Dan day for me, so I'm not too sure about the "happy" part.  We'll see...

Cheri, enjoy Torture Dan tonight!   I shall try my hand at speedwork again tomorrow.  It didn't go so well last time but I am hopeful for tomorrow!

What do you do?  Do you go by yourself?  I like the motivation when someone else is with me -- I don't want to be seen as a wimp!

I did go by myself.  I think this time I will see if I can find a few friends to suffer with me.  A little friendly competition/motivation is always a good thing for me.

ebshot - 2009-08-18 3:53 AM Morning guys.  I got out and ran this morning. I was supposed to run 4 but was having trouble breathing and such so I thought it best to cut it short.  I should really get to a pool or on my bike today so hopefully life will cooperate and it'll work out.

Sorry to see I missed the food conversation yesterday.  Bummer.  I'm making shredded beef sandwiches for dinner tonight.  Just plop a roast in the crock pot with a sliced onion and some seasoning and cook on low all day.  Pull it apart and serve on nice warm crusty rolls.  I'll whip up a salad too.  We'll probably have watermelon unless the kids eat it all today.

now that is one of my favorite meals. I place a roast in a crock pot....add chopped up carrots, onions, and red potatoes....then add a lipton onion dry soup mix, a can of cream of mushroom soup...with one can of water and more maybe later...and wella...dinner is served in 4-6 hours...mmmmmm! such an easy meal and YUMMY!!!

This week is rough...my remaining amount for the challenge is overwhelming me! I need to learn to cut back on a few of the workouts for these things!  There is a challenge and then there is pushing yourself too hard!

I just got home from the eye doctor with Cole and Alex.  Cole got a new prescription and Alex needs glasses.  Ack!  I was afraid of that but I should be glad.  I was wearing them when I was 7.  She is 8 so she has me beat.  Now Cole, on the other hand, has been wearing them since he was 3.  Poor guy.  More money out the window....

Hey team!  Got another bike session in today.  I'm now at 62% for goal.  With the race this weekend, it should bring me a lot closer to goal.

Bummer about the glasses, but glad that they can see.  My son wore glasses since he wasd 7.  Try playing soccer with them when you want to head butt the ball.  As soon as he was old enough for contacts we got those, just because of soccer.

My daughter we didn't find out she needed glasses until 9th grade.  She commented about sitting on the floor in the class and I asked "wasn't there enough seats in the class?" and she responded "yeah, there are, but I can't see the board from my seat."  We were at the eye doctor the very next day.  Poor kid.  Wonder how long she couldn't see and hadn't said anything.

Okay, I'm curious - "torture Dan DAy?"

My buddy Dan is a running coach, and I run with him every Tuesday.  He comes up with the most excrutiating torture sessions, so I've dubbed him "Torture Dan".  Tonight I had to negotiate -- he wanted to do half mile intervals and I knew I only had quarters in me (spent the day in meetings and I was drained!).  But the torture session went good -- we warmed up, did six quarters, then a cool down.  We were done in just over half an hour, not too bad.  Actually, I really do benefit from this speedwork, but it's hard to wrap my brain around it when it's hot and humid, and I've been working all day.

Legs are a little sore this morning, so I'm going to go for a swim in my "fishbowl", aka backyard pool.  It's a very sleepy morning...

Speed work done.  Was successful this time!   Thanks to Cheri for the walking in between 400s idea.  It made all the difference!

just keep doing what you can...remember not to get overwhelmed...this is a challenge and we are here to help motivate you to reach your goals....but we sure do not want to add stress to your plate....just do what you can Lisa. It is good to push...but dont want to burn out...or get to the point where it is no longer fun...or at least that is my perspective. have a great rest of the week....and no more rough weeks....ya hear???
