iowagander - 2009-10-12 12:23 PM Stacie - I also got a kick of watching Faris during Kona. I missed the aid-station cool-down session, but I agree with the commentators about how keeping the, ahem, area helps cool the body. On the flip side, when we were playing football in late October and November in Minnesota back in the day, the coaches always told us to keep our hands warm by putting them down the pants. It's the warmest part of the body and it's much better than putting on cold and icy mittens. As for Faris, if it weren't for that beard, it would be pretty easy to think he was a woman from a distance with that speedo and tiny little tank top he wears. When I saw last year's highlight show the first time, I remember thinking "wow, what a buff chick!"
Jules - I was thinking sometime next week for that 7 miler. I'll let you know!
TOM. dump water on them off to ward off heatstroke.
a good place to put your hands when its cold out.
MAN oh MAN those goodies sure come in handy, dont they?

i was rooting for Faris the whole time, hes my kinda of athlete. i love the ones that throw convention to the wind, and just do thing their way.
im not sure i would mistake him for woman though. he is so tall and gangly. unless of course 'she' was from Eastern block nation. LOL.
course i see what your saying when it comes to the tiny bottoms and cropped top.
hes sure NOT your typical wispy triathlete, thats for sure.
a top 10 finish. doesnt seem to matter where he stuffs his water bottle.
