deehtz - 2009-11-06 3:46 PM I got my jog in this morning, but the weirdest thing happened.  About 5 min. into it, I stopped at a corner to stretch.  This guy (probably at least late  60s pulls up and parks his pickup.  He heads towards me, asks if I am heading out or just finishing a run.  Then proceeds to tell me that running, biking, etc. doesn't do my health any good.  I DON'T want a conversation with this guy, so I just shrug and say I just do it for fun.  Then he says, "Yeah, my son smokes marijuana "for fun"  and the endorphin high from exercise does the same thing to a person's health.  Running and biking are  very bad for your health."  Then he hands me a card and says to check it out on his website.  He also says that he is a "class 2" bike rider meaning that he could ride with Lance if he came to town.      Yeah, right!  I so do not believe THAT one.

Anyway, at that point, I took off jogging.  I haven't gone to his website because if he has a counter on his site, I don't want to encourage him.    The whole thing was rather bizarre.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed my jog!

Maybe he thought you were cute and he was trying to pick you up.

I've been a bum all afternoon. I ran 7 miles this morning, then walked a mile as a cool down. When I got home I made a smoothie, weighed myself, put on my robe and have spent most of the rest of the day relaxing in my favorite chair in a quiet house. I really should go shower.

I have to admit that on my run today, I kept an eye out for his pickup.  But thankfully did not see it.   Smile

Sounds like you have a really good day just enjoying!    7 miles, wow!  To me that is a lot, but I will get there someday.  It feels good to just have time to kick back and relax, doesn't it

eve GHOULIES.

ive spent most of the day w/out an internet connection.  BAH!

thanks ALREADY for the HIM well-wishes/inspires/words of encouragement.

its gonna be SOME journey.

i had a lazy sorta day as well....i went to the Y and did a 1 mile continuous swim, then short, easy run on the TM.

i kept looking out the window pining away for the sun and cool breeze.

ah well. plenty of days to run outside if not before winter sets in somethin' fierce.

it WAS a good plan moving forward, the xtra few days have really turned things around w my hip/glute/IT.

i was starting to worry that perhaps it was gonna be something more 'permanent'

turns out not to be the case, thankfully.

pounded out my winter maintenance schedule.  a little boring to be honest.

i have a hard time not having an event on the horizon, but i have to say, SETTING THE 1/2 IM INTENTION, even though the race itself is 'down the road' has really given me some renewed focus and enthusiasm.

i just found out my friend L., placed 2nd overall in the ATHENA division.  she is MY HERO. i cant wait to give her a HUGE congratulatory HUG.

and sloppy kisses.

welp GHOULIES, barring any internet issues, ill see you in the morning.

3mile run and ST on tap for tomorrow.

nighty night.

Hey Ghoulies! I just got back from my 5 miler. I'm on pace for a good month, but Ann-uendo is still on top... for now  All my joints are happy with me for the moment too, so I'm pretty pumped.

Tomorrow is my stretching and ST day, so I'll have one more in the books in that department. I hope everyone's having a nice weekend!

Sorry you had to go without an internet connection for most of the day. I HATE when that happens!

Glad you have some nice weather (hopefully) still on the horizon, and that your upper-leg issues are healing nicely. Have a nice night!

Thanks Ann! I actually thought of that one on Friday, but I was waiting for the right context. Yes, I'm a dork like that.

As for the joints, tendons, muscles, etc, I'm very happy that I've held up so far while building my mileage. I was really nervous last month of getting back into running after my ITB injury this summer, but all's well so far. The only issue right now is that my calves are screaming thanks to the hills around here. It's a good pain though...

Hi Amy! Having a nice weekend so far?

It was nice. Devoid of exercise, unfortunately, but still nice. Got some quality time with the hubby and kids.
