Kristen8040 - 2010-02-24 6:16 PM I hate the weather!!!!! My fiance and I had always shared a loved for Texas and have always joked about moving but really I'm going nuts in stupid NJ.  Not only does running outside go out the picture (yes I know you can still run outside, but I'm not that hardcore.)  I'd suck it up on the treadmill but it looks like getting to the gym tomorrow will be a nightmare.  Ughhhhhhh!!!  Sorry just had to rant, possibly another snow day tomorrow. (I don't want to be in school till July)

I'm on the other side of the rain/snow line on Long Island.  Its been raining for almost 2 days and its expected to go until Saturday morning.   I'll run in the cold and snow, but I don't like starting a run in the rain, and I just can't run in cold rain.  ick.

I'm getting tired of this too.  I want a warmish morning run that I can do without 3 layers of clothing (and 1/2 a load of laundry.)  Lets just hope this summer is dryer than last years.

Gym day!!  Started with stomach and core work then Chest, Back, Sholders, & Arms. Finished up with light dead lifts and several sets of body weight squats then stretched out really well. Have a great weekend all.

Well, I am starting to feel human again. I have had some kind of respiratory deal all week. This is only my second day training all week. I did a good brick this afternoon. 60 min ride on spin bike in zone 1 and 2 then 70 mins on treadmill. Did some stair stepping with my speed. Ran almost 6 miles... Feel OK but still not good. I just cant miss anymore time.. I am going to try and get a Swim/Ride brick tomorrow morning then over to Bass Pro Shops to do Seminars all day..Hope your all doing well.

Snow killed my early morning plans so I postponed until later this afternoon. Knew the kids would be off and today would be a 'virtual' work day.Hit the Y for a treadmill run and to reset my footpod for the Garmin. Ended up doing 3 minute intervals 'descending' every 4-5 segment. So, I would start at 10:00 min miles and go faster each 3 minutes for 4-5 segments and peak between 7:30 and 7:45 minute miles. No incline so it was a flat course.Ended up running 6.78 miles during the interval workout and if I add on the .5 for setting up my Garmin i was at 7.28.Extended spin class tomorrow at 7:15 followed by some lifting.Have a great weekend everyone.

Drove down to Phoenix today and picked up my packet, event meeting tomorrow.  I am looking around for a trail to get out on my bike for 4-5 miles just to make sure I still know how to ride as all my training has been on the trainer.
Brought the new bike but switch the pedals back to the platforms with toe clips as I haven't had a chance to get use to the clipless pedals and falling on my face at the end of the ride might just about ruining my day.

Oh and the Desert Classsic Duathlon looks like its going to be a Tongue out wet one.  My luck come down to the desert to get warmed up and get rain instead Cool have to love it.  But still warmer than home was 12F when I left this morning.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.  I got my brick in today.   60 mins swim and 60 mins spin bike ride.  My swim was tough.  I have not swam in a week and I really believe the respiratory deal I have going on hurt my breathing.  My bike ride was much better.  I did 60 mins on the spin bike and kept my HR in zone 2 and mostly zone 3.   Lots of sweat and water during my ride.   I am getting better but still not 100%.  I have been able to keep my appitite so I think that has helped my energy.

I am at my Dads for the weekend so tomorrow morning, I am going to try a long slow run at the local track.  Its one of those "soft" rubber tracks so I am going to try a zone 1 and zone 2 run for 90 mins which is about 6-7 miles for me...

Hope your all doing well...

Ryan

Ryan hope you get completly recovered from the respitory crud you had. Best of luck.

I went for a 8 mile mostly trail run this afternoon and it was great..The temps were in the low 60's.  Lots of squirls along the levy trail.  I did 4:1 run walk ratio the whole way and felt like I just kept getting stronger the whole way.  So far from a nutrition stand point I ate a GU pack at 30 minuits and a Mini Cliff bar at one hour neither bothered my stomach on the run but the cliff bar was definatly more filling.  I finished feeling strong like I could have gone longer.

I already know I'm not gonna do a damn thing tomorrow except Grill come burgers and cook a pot of Turkey Chili and beans for the week so here are my February totals..  I guess you can tell I have run events coming up not Tri's LOL!!  I officaly regestered for the 25K HOG HUNT trail run race is on April 10th.  This week was my first week over 20 miles.

 Have a good weekend all.

February's totals:
Bike:2h 00m  - 38 Mi
Run:13h 23m 56s  - 65.27 Mi
Strength:3h 45m
Rowing:1h 30m

William, I am not over it yet.  I am about 80%.  The Anitibiotic I am taking makes me a little sick at my stomach so everytime I eat, I feel bad.  Today was my last day so Im glad to be over that..

Nice run totals.  I need to up my running the next two weeks. I only have three weeks left to my half marathon and I need a couple of big runs before the last week.  My bike is coming along fine.  My swim on the other hand is . !@#$^%%$&&.       Not good..

Nice totals for the month... I really need to add my hour or so of strength training back into my routine.  I dont like what all the cardio is doing to my body.  I worked pretty hard over the last year to build some muscle tone and its going to pot now.  hahaha.   After my HIM, I will go back to doing a good bit of weight training along with some riding and running..

Hey everyone! Got in a good workout yesterday.  Went to spin class, and was going to run after, but then I saw they were having zumba class (latin dance fitness class lol) I used to take it before I really started training in January.  I was 10 minutes into the class and realized it was a waste of time.  Did 4x12 laps in a 25yd pool.  Gonna try and get a long run in today as long as the rain isn't too hard!
<p>
btw:  At the end of spin class a woman asked me if I was a cycling pro. hahahaha feel good comment of the day

Hope you feel better soon.Endurance sports with running & Tri sports, certainly shed weight & muscle mass. In reality, it makes you more efficient for that sport. It is difficult to do endurance training & build muscle, as you body is in a constant "push-pull" on what it needs to do.

This mornings run was interesting.

First, I stink at math:  3.6 + 6.4 != 11

Second, at about 2 miles into my run, well, my intestines made an announcement that they needed tending to, right away.  I was 1.5 miles from home.  Now, some of you are saying "Just hop into the bushes and take care of business."   Not here.  Those bushes are right on someones front lawn.  It just wasn't going to happen.  I made it home safely, thanks for your concern.

Now I had to finish my run - I've done 3.6 miles so I just need to do 6.4 to make it to 11 miles.  Dummy.

February was an OK month.  Work was a little tough so I didn't get to the gym to swim as much as I wanted and the weather kept me from running or on the treadmill.  But I hit 100 miles for two months in a row (first time.)  And I've doubled last years swim distance in just two months.

Enjoy Sunday guys - I'll be rooting for USA Hockey later today.

Ryan

Yea definatly get in at least one long run of 13 miles before the 1/2 marry.  Use the Run Walk.. Galloway says in his book if you do it in training then you already know you can do it in the race.  I agree 100% on the strength training I have decided to put 2 days a week of upper body weight trainining in my schedule for a while to maintain my muscle mass and look good.  Most Triathletes dont fall into the catagory I think because the Swim balances out the upper body to some extent, but I see alot of people that only run and to me they look more like they are strung out on crack than in good shape LOL!!

Bruce
Nice job on the 2 months in a row over 100 miles I'm impressed.

GoGoGo
Nice job on your 100 mile month also If I lived up there I would have been all tread mill miles.

Kristen
Next time you see Lance at one of your bike races get his autograph for me LOL!  good job on the workout.
