Great idea!  Wes inspired me to start blogging.  I'll post the link once I get my first blog done.  Blogger even let me redirect my blog to use my domain.  I used to run a Linux box to host a lame website where I posted all our pictures so friends and family could look them up.  I got tired of maintaining it so I turned it off a while ago.  Does anyone know of a photo hosting site similar to blogger where I can upload my pictures there and have it look like they are on my server using my domain name?

ransick - 2010-04-23 7:39 PM It is pretty flat where I train.  For my third ever tri, I signed up for a Sprint that is very hilly (for me).  Check out the bike course http://maps.onemillionrevolutions.org/profile.jsp?segmentID=10611 elevation.  As if that is not enough, the run is much more hilly than I'm used to too.  http://maps.onemillionrevolutions.org/profile.jsp?segmentID=10612 Nice 17% grade near the end of the run should be fun.

I know it's no where near as hilly as PA, SC, CA and many other places, but it is hilly for me.  Any training suggestions? Find the biggest hill I can and do hill repeats once a week?

If there is a bridge or overpass nearby you could use that. Some people also practice riding or running into headwinds to use that resistance as practice for hills.

I just went geocaching with my nephew and daughter for the second time today. The first time, my son and I went and we were not successful.

We found 5 cache's today and had a great time!

Hello everyone. I made my 5K today and beat my training time by 7 full minutes. Still slow tortoise but I will take it.  It was a little hilly but not bad and I finish with a smile on my face, sweat on my brow and hunger for the next one in my heart.  I want to drop my time by another 10  to 12 minutes before the season is over. I believe as the weight drops so will my time. I believe as I get back into biking hard again it will melt away as long as I leave the table a little hungry.
I am glad the blog worked for you. You know I will be checking it regularly.  Anyone tracking the Ironman Africa tonight/tomorrow?

Yes my first 5K ever. I used to run while on the Boxing team in the Air Force. My coach would get me before breakfast and drop me off 3 to 5 miles from the chow hall and tell me I had so many minutes before the chow hall closed.  So if I didn't get there in time I would miss breakfast. When training I never wanted to miss a meal. LOL  My forte was quick and hard punches.  The only thing harder that my punch was my face (coach used to tease me that I was trying to break their hands with my face).  Speed running has never been my thing. He would tell me 12 miles and I would be gone for a long long time. Any way thanks for the encouragement. I will research the link and PM it to you. I am following a guy who blogs that was a was a Clydesdale and now is real competitive Ironman.  Will let ya know

Looks like you can track it on Ironman.com. It will be around 1 AM my time when it starts so it probably wont have results till 2. I am one hour ahead of you. I am tracking Johan Stemmet and believe he will place good enough to qualify for Kona but you never know.

The guy (John Stemmet) qualified for Kona.  Did the Iron Man South Africa in 10:10.  Far cry from his first tri at 258 lbs and had major trouble in his swim.  That's motivating

His blog is http://tri-stemmet.blogspot.com

ironannekidd - 2010-04-26 6:05 AM Good morning everyone!

How did the racer's do this weekend?

First tri of my season went really well, despite some pretty nasty weather on the bike leg. I met Ryan and another BTer named Laura! Ryan kicked major butt out there. I have not had time to work on race report but will do so later today.
