Wow, guess I didn't miss much today. Ann, hope you are feeling better. I have a crazy week ahead. Early starts. Work dinners. A couple flights to boot. Last big push at work and then it quiets down.

ironannekidd - 2010-12-13 7:15 AM Good morning Ghoulies!

Sorry I missed you this weekend, Kim.

I'm at home today Ghoulies.  I was up, showered, dressed, had breakfast, played with my pups for a few minutes, and headed off to work earlier. I was less than 2 miles from my house when I felt a wave of dizziness come on. I was headed to the gas station, since an empty tank won't get me far. I sat there for a few minutes until the dizziness passed then I headed home. The HR was still pounding, but I didn't feel like I was going to pass out. I walked in the door and went straight back to my bedroom and crawled in bed completely dressed. My husband was making the bed, so it was perfect to crawl in.

The HR has gone back to normal, but now I have a headache and I'm drained. I do have to get out of the house today to get dog food, I'm completely out. That can wait a bit though, they ate this morning. Too bad I didn't have the holter monitor on this morning.

I'll be back in a bit.

I'm all for skipping work but that just doesn't sound fun.  Hope you're feeling better soon!

Off to a meeting - boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Just so you all know - the people I work for (outside of my direct manager) are complete morons!

Good morning Bill!

I thought being a moron was a requirement to climb the corporate ladder.

Ann, I guess I am excited for you. I know nothing about bball or the Phillies in particular. How is your heart for real today?

Good morning, Robin!

My hr was in fact flittery this morning. I'm noticing a pattern of it in the mornings. It usually starts somewhere between the time I hit the shower and when I'm out in the kitchen making breakfast. It has been lasting 15-30 minutes. Sometimes I feel it lightly, other times, like yesterday, it is much worse.

When I was working out I did not have this. I'm not cleared for cardio yet, but I'm about ready to say screw it and start working out again to see what happens.

Maybe starting slow and easy is the way to go. Sort of like the C25K program. Adding tiny bits at a time. I would hate for you to have another incident like the MCM!

Considering how long I've gone without any cardio I'd have to start slow. I thought about a C25K program. Even if I walked the loop I like to walk at home. It's 4.2 miles, and pretty hilly, but I've walked it before and not seen a single car. I could bundle up and walk it in the evenings. I'd leave the dogs at home since it's so cold and there are 5 ponds along the way. Too cold for puppies in a pond.

I can take my cell and if I have problems just call home. Plus I know plenty of people on the loop. It's not like I couldn't stop at someone's house if I had a problem.

Just remember cold adds stress. How about taking one of your kids with you? Turns out my kid was just waiting for me to ask her to go for walks with me. She never said so I never knew until way later.

I missed another large part of a day of my life yesterday. In the middle of the night I got stabbing pain in my hand (the one with arthritis). It lasted most of the day. Close to the worst pain I have had. I was exhausted with no sleep. The power was out and it was cold so I just stayed in bed on pain meds most of the day.

The good news was it went away as soon as it came on so we got to go to a local restaraunt that was showcasing some local artists. It was a small, nice gathering and about all I was up to so it wasn't a total wasted day.

If the temps weren't in the 20's in the evening I would take a kiddo along.

I'm thinking maybe I could start by spending some time on the trainer in the evenings. It would be warmer. It would be easier to stop if I have a problem. I would be in my own house and if I'd have a problem it would be easier to get help.

I had this once before. It was worse then. The doc thought it was gout. It turns out I didn't have the elevated uric acid level. The only link I can find is that I ate mussels two days before each event. Maybe there is a link between arthritis and mussels. Who knows? I do know that I won't be eating mussels again (and I LOVE them).

I found this

Shellfish –Shrimp, Lobster, Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Conch, and Crab
contains B vitamins, chondroitin, glucosamine, copper, omega-3-FA, protein, and zinc. Extreme benefits for Arthritis sufferers. If you have a predisposition to Gout, avoid eating a lot of shellfish. See more about Gout below.

ABOUT GOUT

Purines in certain foods metabolize into uric acid which build up in soft tissue and joints. This causes the pain and swelling known as Gout. Some of the contributors to Gout are excessive consumption of shellfish, red meat, and alcohol. On the other hand, two glasses of skim milk a day can cut the risk of Gout in half.

If you have Gout:

limit these foods – asparagus, cauliflower, legumes, red meat, mushrooms, nuts, peas, pork, poultry, seafood, caffeine, whole-grain breads and cereals.

And eat a lot of these foods – bananas, berries, cherries (especially cherry juice), celery, refined carbohydrates, citrus and other fruits high in vitamin C, low-fat dairy products, leafy green vegetables, pineapple, flaxseed, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, and tofu.

Thanks. That co-insides with what the doc said. He was terse: eat more cherries and pineapple Don't eat mussels and watch out for shellfish. He is gruff on a good day but open on Saturday and Sunday

What about a cherry/pineapple/mussel shish kabob with more cherries and pineapple than mussels?

ceilidh - 2010-12-14 8:49 AM I missed another large part of a day of my life yesterday.

Ugh!

That's sucktastic Robin!!!

I'm glad it went away!
