Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Congratulations Mark and Billy on your race this weekend! My race didn't go as well as planned. Will give more detail on my race report which I will work on next. Does it not seem that my husband is more excited about my racing then I am? Gotta love the support he gives me and he is so proud of me that he wants to share it with everyone. Kathy |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Race report is done and posted. One thing I forget to mention as I knew I was going to finish slower then planned/hoped for was something that I think Bryan said was that all that matters is that we cross the finish line and that we keep moving. Remember our peeing decisions?????? Well, I really needed to pee while on the bike and many, many times I would look back to see if someone was behind me. I never could go, so it would be safe for me to say that peeing on the bike will never happen for me. Just thought I would say that with my friends. |

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Just a quick note. I finished!! Thought of all of you, especially KTC as we were both racing the same day. I am at work now, so I will probably work on the race report tomorrow. To sum it up, it was a hilly, challenging course and it poured the whole time!! Pelting rain, brake gripping, long, down hills and a hilly run. So I kept my nutitrion in my zip locks and did access them fairly well and remarkably I didn't have Cliff bar soup. I did wear the fuel belt and have no regrets but could see how it would be irritating for a longer distance. Motrin worked beautifully also. Nailed the swim but it was unerving after that. My goals are simple, finish, don't get hurt and try not to be last but if I am, oh well, some one has to be. All goals met this time. Had fun despite the weather. Walked with a woman who had a cramp on a short steep hill. Was glad to get off my bike as I was going so slowly it would have been hard to unclip if I waited much longer. I was glad to help her and walk a short distance. Used a porto potty on the bike, at the end and needed one on the run and nothing was coming up so I went behind a tree. Felt sooo much better! Glad to hear every one did well and looking forward to reading race reports. |

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Race report is done. Didn't post all the ranking details. Not that important to me, and my slash button wouldn't work in that program. Not sure why. Suffice it to say I was 4/11 in my age group after the swim and 11/11 for the remainder. Got a cortisone inj today. Another problem which I don't talk about much is I have a limp x 12+ years and it is worsening. I have an apparent leg length discrepancy although probably not an actual one. The only way to be sure is x ray and I have deferred that so far. Various providers have measured me and the majority feel they are the same length. My pelvis is off. It causes left ITB inflammation and pain!! I have gone to several PTs with no resolution. The ITB area is sooo tender the PT (who has done an Ironman and is training for another) couldn't work the area because of the pain, so he recommended the Ortho (who runs Marathons) He recommended cortisone ,with a diagnosis of bursitis, a few weeks ago but I was afaid it would affect my training so I delayed it until now. He feels PT won't help and I should just get a lift for my shoe. To me a lift if quitting. Why can't I straighten out my pelvis? It is so twisted. There is slight scoliosis but not significant. As you can see I am only seeing providers who are athletes now because I have seeked chiroractic for this and the guy I have been using keeps telling me how bad running is for me. Thanks but no thanks. The only modality I haven't tried is acupuncture. Any one have any ideas or thoughts? I am hoping the cortisone eases the pain but it is something I can live with because although the area aches at times it is really only very painful when you touch it. To demonstrate how off kilter I am, the tri I did was very hilly and only my left calf is sore. Sometimes I can't sleep on that side because of the tenderness but I make do. I just want to be able to walk when I am 60 and 70!! Thnaks for listening guys!! Recovery time and working long hours the next several days so plenty of time to heal. Off to read race reports.

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 BIG congrats to Ann and Kathy! Great races... and yes, the plan IS simple... finish, don't get hurt, and if possible, don't be last. :-) Thought about both of you and your races Sunday, sitting in the Big Yellow Banana kayak supporting the Danskin Tri swimmers. Sounds like some of the nutrition questions got resolved as well? Saturday was the Atlas Ride, the first leg of the Texas 4000, whereby a number of riders from this little school here in Austin ride to Alaska and hopefully raise some $$ toward the fight against cancer. The Atlas itself is usually 70 miles, but once again, the 121212 challenge was there, so I rode the 25 from the house to the start and we threw in another short loop in the middle of the ride, so for me it ended up being 106.1 miles. Best part? We finish at a winery! now THAT's a finish line!

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Awesome Triple!! Thanks for your thoughts. Nothing like some red wine for the heart and soul. Hope it was good. What a ride?? I have done Danskin NJ twice. Great group, well supported and organized. I thought my race, this week end, had lean support in the swim. I never ran into a kayak so there couldn't have been too many. Thanks for being there for the ladies!! |

Extreme Veteran 845 | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Congratulations Ann on your race! I am sorry I can't help you but it sounds like you are going to right people. I remember when I hurt my foot and went and had it x-ray and the doc told me that people are not made to run 26 miles I knew right then and there I would only go to doctors who understand what we do. My coach gave me the week off from training. I am just suppose to be activity but don't have to swim, bike or run. It is a mid training break and I am loving it. May not be here much as I am trying to also relax the mind and not think too much about triathlons. The only down side is that I am eating all the unhealthy food that I normally don't eat. Monday morning I will be back on track and I will be eating properly again so I am going to enjoy this week while I can. |

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Got to read the race report. Great job!! Every race is a learning experience. We will only get better. Your transition times were awesome!! You overcame many things. It is a building block. It's a big race early in the season. I always overschedule after a race. No matter how hard I try, things come up and I have to be places. I guess I have to learn to say, "no, I can't make it." |

Veteran 201 Long Island | Subject: RE: Left.Right.Repeat - CLoSED for the season - will reopen Jan 2013 Billy, how do you do so much?? And train for IM KET. My tri group is going there. I am so envious. When are you leaving for Belize. I will be praying. Is is too late for shoes? If not plse post the address again otherwise I'll save for next time?? I've been a bit overwhelmed. The cortisone shot left me disabled yesturday. Thank goodness for Motrin. What I miracle drug. Def better today but limited ROM. Also resting with out a choice this week. May try to swim tomorrow and easy upper body strength. |

Made major progress in getting the shoes to you. They are now ready to go to the post office (sitting prominently on a chair in my family room) this pm. Its been a long time coming but I have 2 pairs of old running shoes and 2 pars of barely worn kids athletic shoes For all the rest of you, I am amazed at all the fantastic races you are completing; so sometimes they don't always go as planned, but that seems to be life anyway. Congrats to all of you! I am reading your posts, it had just been so busy to get anything written that does not have to do with clinical trials.... Pam |

I got one. I did my first ever trail run. It was a 10K (the garmin said 6.87 miles!). I think it was my slowest 10k ever, but it was lots of fun. Very technical and since I have a tri next weekend, I walked when I felt like I needed to avoid a sprained ankle or something. I did a short race report on here (but don't know how to link to it - I'm technically challenged ). I will also post a more detailed report with pictures on my blog. |

Anybody else get a finish line this weekend. I completed the Tybee Island Sprint Triathlon today. Was on the podium for 3rd in my AG but looking at the results tonight, they changed the age grouping again and I"m now MOP with the younger guys. No biggie - it was a fun day and was happy with how I did. Also did a 5.25 mile race (not sure why that distance) in Chagrin Falls, OH over the Memorial Day Weekend while visiting friends. Last minute entry. Congrats to everyone the last couple of weeks with finish lines. Bryan - That Wounded Warrior medal you posted on FB is awesome. It made me tear up just looking at it. Lena - Finally sent you a FB request. If you get a friend request from a freak named Robert Meade - it' just me. Take care everyone! |
