Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Are you wearing lulu? That is a funny pic, but the grey run swiftly top caught my eye first. (I'm not putting down any time goal for my race - I just want to have a good race. I did this same race 3 years ago in 2:48 - 3rd AG. But, it was in June and hot hot hot. Not sure what the weather is supposed to be yet on Sunday, but it should be much cooler!) |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Thanks guys, I think a 14 minute PB is pretty much as good as I could have done on the day. So I'm stoked! I had always been intending on taking a week, probably 2 off from proper training after this, but with what happened last year (Calf injury resulting in no running for 3 months, and no HIM) I'm a bit worried about how my legs feeling. If there's no improvement in a day or 2, I'm off to the Dr. I'm sure he'll just tell me to rest up, but should probably make sure... My RR is up in my logs now, or if you want to see some pictures of me struggling my way across the country, its also here. |

But you are riding on the wrong side of the road on the downhill. haha, you must drive on the "wrong" side of the road over there!! Again, congrats, and well written report! |

Champion 5615 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I feel the need to give a bit of forewarning for Kel's athletes. I saw the genesis of something diabolical. Last night, after her swim workout, Kel was scanning the pool and said "hey, that looks like it would be a 'good' swim drill to give some of my athletes." I didn't see what it was but the way she said it, all I could picture was her posing with fingertips together under the chin and ominously saying 'Exxxcellllent'.
So, if she is in the process of writing your next block of swim workouts, be afraid. Be VERY afraid. |

Off day for me today. Feels weird. I know my body needs to taper going into a race, but the change of routine throws me off a bit. |

Off day for me today. Feels weird. I know my body needs to taper going into a race, but the change of routine throws me off a bit. REST! What I saw was a girl holding a kick board between her legs to work on body position. Because the kick board is unstable, it really makes you work on the position of the lower half of of the body. Its almost like using a band except it adds instability to the equation. |

Did you do the freestyle leg of the medley? Love it! My two oldest kids had private lessons last night (Conrad is being primed for the blue group team), and as they are swimming, I watch the second hour of the swim practice for the B3 Aquatics team (2 hour practices every night of the week). These kids are probably 12-18 years old, and some of them are Olympic hopefuls. Anyway, these kids swam a lot for the first hour, I am sure, but when I got there, they were just assigned a 1 x 3000m all out. These kids swim 6-7000 m in a night every night of the week. That's insane!!!! I admire the fact that most of them are so motivated at such a young age. Hmm. I don't know about the kick board drill. You don't have to give that one to me |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Oh, that is not so bad, I have done those alot, but add to it touching the board each time your hand comes out of the water forces you to work on flicking your wrist as it exits the water .. Finishing the stroke. |

Extreme Veteran 826 Bristow | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great morning. For you folks resting I enjoyed my day off yesterday but got right back in it today with a good swim. Master's Coach had me swim a 100 today to get a personal best to help guide me on some interval work. During that I finally felt my lats get involved and the pull felt so much better and I was gliding through the water better! Slowly but surely I am figuring this thing out. Now just need a ZR run in to get blood flowing and some stretching done of my sore calves. |

Extreme Veteran 826 Bristow | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED On another note I am looking at signing up for my first olympic/international distance in early August( Either the Culpepper or Luray here in VA). It would give me 11 weeks for Culpepper and 13 for Luray after my sprint race on May 20th to prepare for it. Any suggestions on a program to get me there or if anyone has one they would like to share or develop for me? |

Have you tried tapping that sucker as you release. Works on getting a full stroke in, especially if you're a front quadrant thinker. Just thinking out loud as the chlorine fog is clearing. Ah coffee Do you guys drink coffee during taper week or abstain until race day?
