Xterra Wetsuit Sale

Everyone - I received an add from Xterra wetsuits; they are selling their Vector Pro 2 model for about 1/2 price. The list is usually $595 and they are selling them direct for $295. I own a QR sleeveless but i think i'm going to get this suit for cold water tri's (like Alcatraz).

mchally - 2009-03-02 4:42 PM Daniel, did you make it to the Rainman???

No... like I thought we ended up going on a road trip to Portland to visit a friend we hadn't seen for a while, which ended up being fun but I wished I could have done the Rainman.

Don't forget to put up a race report!  Looks like you had a good one.

Cycling in the humid pool area does not sound like fun from the reports of some of the others who were there...

mchally - 2009-03-02 6:41 PM My back isn't at 100% yet...so lauren (the masters coach) is going to be writing me adapted workouts.    I made the mistake of trying a bit of butterfly this morning.  It was very stupid of me.  I only did a few yards, but that is all it took to immediately make it sore again.

Ouch!  Butterfly hurts enough when you don't have a sore back.

Of course, I hope you get back to doing the fly when you're healed up  It really is a great for the core, and if you can do the fly, you can certainly swim the free.

I would love to learn butterfly.  Someday I'll have to take lessons.  Right now I have to keep working on freestyle.  My 14 minute workouts tire me out.  That will get better, right?

As long as you stick with it, it most certainly will.

I keep reminding myself that it's better than it was a month ago.  At least I can move my arms when I'm done now.

It wasn't too bad.  There was a bit of a cool cross breeze and (because I was in one of the earlier waves)  the pool wasn't too humid and hot yet.  I don't like trainers in general and was very glad to be done with the bike segment.

I was super sweaty, but that is true of any indoor riding I do.  I leave a puddle in group spin.

I have struggled with the fly in the past...but i don't have problems when I am wearing fins.  The biggest issue for me is that my shoulders are not very flexible and without fins I really struggle to get my arms up over the water.  I end up plowing the surface...a technique that creates a little more drag than I care for.

I have become more flexible lately and my arms skim the surface more than plowing through it.

Hey all,

Hope some of you are enjoying snow. We are having decent weather here for the most part. Finally. Of course I haven't been able to enjoy it due to the evil creeping crud plague flu that fully struck me down. On the mend, finally!

Fly = yuck. I'm happy to never have to swim that stroke again I'm glad it's completely not necessary for TRI

2 months to first race - yay!

I swam a 200 this morning.  Twice.

First (and second)

time

ever.

And I didn't drown.  Although I thought about it on the last 50.

I'll probably fall asleep on my desk later.

Hello everyone -

Our family had a lot of fun w/ the snow Mon., I had a great swim (2000m first time ever) Mon night then woke up early Tues. AM w/ some awful norovirus.  I spent yesterday curled up in a ball.  I missed yesterday's workouts but have a scheduled day off today so I hope to get something in.  Then I have a huge day tomorrow and a big weekend.

So please send me germ free vibes so I can get back on track.

Hehehe...  I've been working on getting my elbows up by saying to myself "I have shark fins, I have shark fins..."

I'd try to pet them

Which actually reminds me of my honeymoon.  We went to Atlantis for a day and you can actually get in suba gear and walk in the shark tank.  Two things stopped me.  First of all, it was like $150 for just thirty minutes.  Also, my wife is deathly afraid of them, and I didn't feel like making her feel like her husband was going to get eaten six days after the wedding.

My wetsuit came in!  One of the two piece ones from Desoto.  It's pretty awesome considering I just tried it on and wore it around the house.  It's seriously warm in that thing, too.

Bill - you are crazy!

Well I think I am officially back from the dead.  I pushed myself through a run this morning and felt a 100 times better after I finished.  I missed my swim this morning but I wanted to start back easy and I have master's practice tomorrow AM.  So I'll try to get on the bike tonight for a short spin.

Of course, I've dropped about 5 lbs. since Monday which is what I've wanted to do since I started all this training.  So it will be sad to see it go back on when I start eating and drinking again.  :-(

And I am very excited about the weekend here - 60-70s and mostly sunny.  Spring is almost here.  YEAH!!!!  First big race in 2 weeks.  I keep telling myself I can do a sub 2 hour 1/2 marathon.
