Regular 103 Alameda, CA | Subject: RE: Beginner 1/2 Ironman Plan Group Had a great bike ride yesterday with lalexander. That was fun buddy, let's do it again soon. He introduced me to what hills really are. Prior to that I thought I was doing hill training, but it was nothing compared to yesterday. I can't wait to get back out on that route and get better at it. With my mass I was a champ on the downhills though! Too bad they were few and far between. |

Expert 732 | Subject: RE: Beginner 1/2 Ironman Plan Group Yay--Ran 12.5mi today really effortlessly! My coach scheduled 12 on my long day at 10min miles, I ran at about 10:15 because I was running with a friend and she was slow but i'm so happy! Better that she keeps me slow than me overtraining at like 9:20 miles when im supposed to run 10s though. And--so frustrating. Over xmas I bought a pair of CEP compression socks that i felt were ridiculously overpriced but my runner friend was like oh they'll last forever dont worry whatever $60 is no big deal. I put them on today for the FIRST time after I get out of the shower and the heel of the right one tears. SO annoying. I know it's my fault and I wasn't putting them on right, but I do the same with my Sugoi ones even though I wont from now on. Still---gRRRR overall good day though |

Those uphills take much longer to go up than the downhill takes to go down! |

Depending on the location, I'll either be looking or avoiding those hills I created the route when I uploaded my information from my garmin. Hopefully this link works: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?route... /> It started at canada road (near 238 around Foster City) then went down to sand hill road, then we turned around. Do you have any good routes in the San Jose area (or anywhere in the bay)? I'd love to get around the bay and go on more different routes. The one close to me really sucks. It is completely flat with poor gravel and it is a recreational trail so there are runners and walkers on it as well. If you have some routes, please share them! |

The link didn't work but I have a general idea of where you were. I haven't ridden over in that area. We usually ride down to Morgan Hill/Gilroy from our house. We're in S. San Jose. I don't have routes mapped out anywhere but if you look on a map where McKean intersects with Harry Rd., start there and follow McKean south. There are some loops that are beautiful with some rolling hills. You can ride past Uvas reservoir. They have a tri in the spring. Also, look at tierrabella.org. They are having a bike ride in April and they have some good routes on their website. Some with some really challenging (to me) hills If I sign up for a local tri, I like to pre-ride the routes so it gets me out and about. Johanne |

Yah, my bike got stolen over the summer...which would have been slightly better except I just started working after almost a year of job hunting and my husband just got laid off (again) right before Christmas. And we've several times so I don't even know anybody that has an old bike of any kind lol anyway, I'm already committed, no point in giving up due to a setback...for now |

I am almost complete with week 3 of the Prep phase, lost a couple of lbs already! Here is the thread for people racing Gulf Coast this year. You can also read all the race reports that have been written on Gulf Coast by going to the top of this page and clicking on "Races" and then searching for Gulf Coast by state. |

Elite 3223 Hendersonville | Subject: RE: Beginner 1/2 Ironman Plan Group adamamelia - 2011-01-07 6:07 PM My endorphins are high :-) I'm just so pleased with my run training. I've been on the treadmill for about six weeks now and have made more progress than I could have imagined. I've always been athletic, but these past six weeks, with swimming, spinning and running 6 days a week have put me in some pretty good base shape. I started running around 10 minute miles at 147 HR. Now I'm running 8:20's at around 152 HR. It's unreal. I'm having to stop myself from pushing harder and/or running farther because I don't want to over do it and either burn out or get hurt....but every time out, it's like I get to the end of the 5 or 6 mile run and just want to keep going. My long runs on Sundays are only 6 miles right now, and I can't wait to go longer so I can start to experiment with nutrition. I'm just thrilled :-) I know some hate treadmills, but I find them quite useful! I think my bike spinning sessions (I'm new to tri's and bike riding all together) has sped up my run cadence and my neurologic system is starting to learn how to adapt to the faster tolerances. Enjoy the weekend everyone :-) It's not the treadmill. It's YOU, kicking butt day after day! Consistency is the most powerful training tool available and you are seeing the benefits of being dedicated to training day after day and week after week. |

Can't wait to get out again. For those in the area, we started at the junction of I280 and Hwy92 at Canada Rd. Headed south on Canada Rd. to Woodside Rd. and then to Sand Hill Rd (Menlo Park). Nice steady ride down Sand Hill until I told jaegee we needed to turn around...and go back up. |

When I add a workout in my log, I click the import from garmin link, then select the workout after it loads. That takes a few seconds and it loads the lap data at that time I believe. If you are doing the same thing then perhaps it is because of the membership levels? |
