Congrats everyone on the great races. I just had two 5k races last week. Don't know if races that short count as finish lines.

Briana - congrats on your first trail run!  I am too scared to try it as I know I just know I will trip over something and hurt myself.  Maybe one of these days.

LRR - Loved the Wounded Warrior medal and I agree running 13.1 miles should not be called a half.

Robert - congrats on your triathlon race this weekend as well.

And to everyone else I missed great job whether it was racing or training.  You were out there giving it your all!

I am back after taking a week off from training.  My body and mind so needed it that I have a new focus for this last half of training.

elcaminobill - 2012-06-14 10:06 AM Do I hear Crickets?

Yes, the crickets are quite loud.

I have actually been sick.  I don't get sick often, but when I do, it's not fun.  The molds have been high here lately and the allergies finally turned into something more.  No workouts since my trail run Sunday morning and I missed work Tuesday and Wednesday.  I think the antibiotics are finally kicking in, so I may attempt an easy bike ride tonight.  Hope everyone else is well.

Briana, I hope you are feeling better.  I have heard those trail events are TOUGH!! But so fun. Challenging mentally to no get hurt.  Great job.

Billy,  The family was a big disappointment in getting the shoes together.  We have tons but no one rallied to my request, so I will have them for a  future trip if you still want them.  I will be praying for you and your family.  I'm sure you will be a tremendous blessing to Belize and families there.  Look forward to hearing the report.

KTC, I hop eyou are well.

My ITB where I got the injection is doing great.  I just hope I can get to physical therapy to work it.  Training at an easier level right now.  Working on form, not distance.  Have a "Sprint" tri coming up June 30th.  It is in the mountains of the Adirondacks.  The swim is only 750 meters, the bike is 16 on steep inclines and the run is a 10k, on long inclines. It's a pretty long "Sprint" on challenging terrain.  Just looking to finish strong.  Coming home to a real Sprint in Montauk 2 weeks later.  Then a reprieve from races till Sept.

Doing a 85 plus mile bike ride Not a race) to Montauk on Sat.  Should be fun, weather is looking good!!

Where do I find the Finish lines that LRP is always updating??

The finish line total is on page one. The first post. Each year is totaled there.

I got another one today at the Tour d Italia - a ride in a very small town - Italy TX. They had AMAZING fresh cold whole fruit at all the stops. I will go back.

Despite being sick this week, I got another finish line today at my hometown sprint triathlon. It's amazing how adrenaline works. Had one cough fit on the bike but for the most part was able to race like I hadn't been sick. The run was a little slow but finished in 1:27:27. Will do a report and blog update later.

I too did the Pflugerville Triathlon... yes, even sick she still kicks my butt! Laughing

I managed a 1:37:22, and as usual, the swim and the run were slow, but I was happy that I managed a 19.8 average on the bike, and that nobody was shooting spears at the whale floating between the buoys...

Way to go Triple and Briana!!  What a bike split, Pat.

I rode 90 miles to Montauk!  No race, just an awsome ride.  A tough head wind most of the time.  Unfortunate because the wind is almost always the other way.

Racing in the Adirondacks, June 30th.  Little Internet access so may not update until I return.  Upon my return i am doing a true Sprint in Montauk and then it is back to work after 2 plus weeks off.  I can't wait!!  2 races in two weeks.  Not sure it was a smart plan but I'm just in it for the fun and the experience.

Hapy Day everryone!!

Great Job on the accomplished races last weekend and good luck to Ann racing soon.  While I am not writing a lot (my new job is taking up a lot of my energy) I am reading all your accomplishments and travails.

My final countdown is coming soon, Sunday I am 2 weeks away from my first HIM.  I am experiencing all the usual ideas flying thru my head.  I am wondering why we picked a race that requires flying, transporting bikes and hotels.  (I fly too much for work already) but then i remember, it was the only race that fit my schedule, so off to RI we go.

Did I train enough -no I did not, one of those life got in the way situations...  job, family, and health (nothing major just getting used to menopause)  had more prominent roles these last months than I hoped and training suffered.

But all in all (I hope) I am in decent enough shape where I should be able to finish, and if I am last so be it.  I just wanna have fun and not suffer too much.  I am not sure how you guys that train for the full IM do it.  I am impressed and in awe.

Way to go Briana and Patrick!  Great job on your races.

Ann, good luck with yours.  It sounds like you are having some fun.

Pam,  good luck with your HIM!  Yes, life and responsibility gets in the way of us training, but what I found out is that you make the most of the time you have to train and that helps you more then when you have all the time in the world to train.  Okay, that what works for me.  Also, as my hubby puts it so nicely is that we are the true athletes and not the whinny overpaid professional (not triathletes but the other ones) who all they do is train and play.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Pam, I can't wait to hear about your race, I am thinking to do RI next year.  It is so hard to train with all we have on our plates.  I have lowered my expectations.  I don't know who those training plans are written for but they are incredibly time consuming.  Just go easy and remember LRR, it has really helped me in tough times on the course be it in training or a race.  As long as you put in 80 - 90 percent of the training you will be ok. I think we will be racing he same weekend so i will thinking and praying for you!!

Good luck to both Ann and Pam. You both will do awesome!

I have a finish line in August that won't show up in any races, but it is impacting my training a bit. My daughter's wedding -- and the wedding shower tomorrow. I love my daughter, but I told her she had to schedule the wedding around my training Laughing ...jk. But she did decide on a 4pm wedding so even on that day, I have time to get in my bike ride. A 74-miler from Frisco to Lake Ray Roberts and back to the hotel. Found a tuxedo jersey online and putting "Father of the Bride" on the back.

?The route is http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/104855755 in case anybody(Bryan?) in the DFW area wants to tell me I am nuts. I am probably going up to do the Iron Brothers Sprint on July 7, and am planning on driving the planned route.

All - I am off to the Cow Creek Classic tomorrow morning...just another bike ride...I love riding organized rides...they help others financially and someone else to ride with...here we go.

Ann - great thoughts...you rock....LRR

Pam- relax.  The hay is in the barn - you have done all you can.  Taper anxiety is as hard as anything.  I think you just need to focus on the day and putting your action plan to work.  My advice - don't cook yourself on the bike.  Run 30 seconds per mile slower for the first 5 miles than you think you can.  Then cruise the next 5 miles at the best you can....and then for the last 3 - give it what you have left...if it is walking - perfect...if it is running = that's okay too.  ONE FINAL INSTRUCTION - when you get to the finish chute - slow down...look around...high five someone you don't know....hug a finish line volunteer...kiss your medal...you earned it...enjoy enjoy enjoy the moment - you will never have another first HIM finish line.

Have a great weekend peeps - DO SOMETHING EPIC!

Bryan.  So sorry to hear about your crash!!  I am praying for fast healing.  I too, love organized bike rides.  So much fun and you meet great people.  And usually there is  good food and potties along the way!!  All things I need.

Pam, I hope you have an awesome taper week!!  Enjoy some good healthy food and lots of rest and water.  I hope I can get internet in the mountains to read your race report!  I didn't know this is your first HIM.  My one and only was last year and I cried at the finish and hugged everyone I came close to.  It was pouring and they were closing up the massage area and they reopened a table for me!!  Two woman massaged me.  I swear they were angels sent by God!!  I felt so disgusting and they did not seem to mind.  Enjoy the whole experience!!

Safe training for all!!  Get well soon Bryan!!

Bryan hope you are healing fast from your crash.

Sorry I have been MIA this season its been a crazy year.

FInish Line-I did my clubs first off road tri. I almost went back to bed this morning since I have not been riding or swimming. I have been running training for Long Beach Mar. I wanted to cross train but I have been just to tired following this new training plan.

The tri was 500yd swim(15:34), 5+ride(25:54),1.5mile run(8:58). 53:17   I finished the swim & bike in 11th but finished in 4th. i gained 2:38 on the leader during the run.

Bryan, sorry to hear about your crash.  Do hope you heal quickly.  Nice mention of you in the NY Times.  I was trying to figure out how a Texan was going to make news in a New York paper.  Smile

Good luck to Ann and Pam on their races next weekend and anyone else racing.
