We are trying to have healthy snacks... we will see how that fares. Amy IN Hi Amy! I love your new avatar, too! I'm thinking I'd like to be there right about now! (Especially if work couldn't follow me. LOL) Healthy snacks is a good goal! No super bowl party here. Just a pile of work. But I'll intersperse that with some BT time. LOL |

One of mine was to get back in the pool and get serious. I ended up with 18,000 yds (goal of 16,000) so I'm happy. I still have a long way to go to be happy with my swimming again, but it's a real start. Have a great weekend! I was short on ALL my goals, unfortunately. I simply had too much going on. I knew work would be busy, but I underestimated just how crazy it was going to be. Add on the Jan Challenge, and everything just fell apart. February, well, it's going to be just as busy. So I've had to set smaller goals. Not something I want to do, but.... As for March, well, I think I'm learning my lesson. BT and the challenges are great. But I'm hoping that someone else can organize a challenge then.... *sigh* Eric - GREAT job on the 18000 yds last month! That's great! |

Extreme Veteran 504 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: medic0020's Group - CLOSED--BUSTIN AT THE SEAMS Good to see all the chatter up again. Yes, I returned to AZ on Wednesday night but I am in Phoenix now supporting some fundraisers related to the Super Bowl. I was home for an entire 36 hours! But, Peg and I will be driving home on Sunday morning. I am looking forward to a quiet day. I will get caught up and get in two hours of cycling. I got in a two hour run this morning in a great park here in Chandler AZ. Eric, sorry you don't like wine, it is good for your health. Julie and I will share something REALLY yummy when we get together in April. |

Extreme Veteran 608 | Subject: RE: medic0020's Group - CLOSED--BUSTIN AT THE SEAMS Well Julie at this point in time it looks like my daughter will not be making it to CA for Natls in the spring. She has been having tremendous leg pain for the last month so we went to an ortho and she has a stress fracture in her femur, he said he doesn't know how she was even getting out of bed. So we are really dealing with a lot of difficult emotions right now. Having to accept not running for 4-6 weeks and not making it to Natls is a adjustment that is not going to be easy for her. But she is a trooper and is trying to re-focus her goals... She is now doing 2 hours workouts each day in the pool, as per coach and doctors advice. I told her she would get back to the same level once she was released but she is very down right now. Everyone have a great workout week!!!!! I will check in with everyone later. Amy IN |

I hope you get to find some time with yourself soon, it misses you Eric - Go get em on the spin class, does your wife do tri's also? Did you have any interesting runs, is that morbid to ask? ... Amy IN My wife has actually decided to train for her first sprint in March. She did a women's super sprint in October as part of a relay team (they took 1st place) but she only did the bike leg. When I first got started, I harassed her about doing one. She had been saying no so I left her alone. After the October race, she decided that she wanted to do one. Her motivation--If all those fat, old ladies could do it, then she could too (her words, not mine ). We were busy on Fri night but nothing too exciting. We had a wreck on the interstate that probably could/should have killed someone. This older bronco rolled over and it actually ripped the roof off the back half of the truck. There was an adult and a kid in a car seat in the back. The truck ended up upside down. Pretty amazing none of the 4 in that vehicle weren't hurt worse. |

Amy IN My boss's high-school age daughter runs track and cross country. I think she had a similar issue back in the fall. I wonder how common this is? It usually takes a ton of force to break the femur in a trauma, so I guess that tells you how much of a pounding the body takes when running. |

Expert 957 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: medic0020's Group - CLOSED--BUSTIN AT THE SEAMS It's Monday and I'm back. Our internet connection at home has been down all weekend. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I spent 30 mins on the phone with customer service on Saturday and no luck. After MUCH frustration and cursing, I finally managed to get the last few lights hung from our purchase last weekend. Took out the ceiling fan in the kitchen and put in a low-hanging overhead light and replaced the old fan in our bedroom with a new one. We had to make 2 extra trip back to Lowes to finish the project. Saturday, i found out that the kitchen light had no instructions in the box so I had to go "steal" some from another box. Then we figured out that the wires were cut too short in the light for it to be installed properly. Had to go return it. While we were there, karen picked out 2 sets of under-cabinet lights for me to put up too. I not sure if she's trying to get me electrocuted or what. I'm more Tim Taylor than Bob Villa. Happy Monday! Have a great week of workouts! |
