Veteran 172 San Antonio | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Hi! Wow,Heather you were right! The nutrition log is really cool! It is really easy to use and I was even able to find the protein shake I use I think after a couple more times I think I can get it logged really quickly. I've got to get off the sugar. I'm an addict. I'm so glad you are all working on your TI drills. I'm sold on it. It has really helped me so much. My balance has improved from doing the drills. I saw something the other day that helped me internalize some of the TI philosophy more: http://www.sealfitnesschallenge.com/swim.htm(Robyn-thanks for finding that site) Two faults that I have are feeling like I am swimming uphill and picking my head up. Both of those are balance issues. I was concentrating on those yesterday. I tried to keep my eyes on the same place on the ropes to work at keeping my head level. That was the first thing to help..The trainer in the video talks about using your torso as your buoy and to balance off of that. I've found that what they say about sinking body, legs or butt is true: if I am are sinking my head is either out of position, I'm holding my breath or I'm not balanced on my armpit/torso. I got some larger view goggles the other day. They are aquasphere and I think that they will really help me see better in the open water swim. That was the hardest thing for me, not being able to see. I got them for 12.00- a huge bargain at a sports store going out of business! Alan, that is really cool that they are having a seminar when you'll be there for your lesson. I know you'll share what you learn with us! I didn't push my run (on the treadmill again) too hard because of the shin splint like pain I had Monday. I ran 10.5 miles for the first two miles. I was trying to figure out what I was doing that was making it hurt. I think I need some help with my stride because little shifts I made helped. I was able to finish today, and the pain dissipated after mile 2. Hmmmm. Mile 3 I did the last two quarters of a mile at 9:30 per mile pace. That is still my goal! Before last year, I had probably run a total of 10 miles for exersize since junior high (30+ years ago) and had never swam a lap in a pool but knew how to "swim". I started mountain biking the summer before last but hadn't been on a road bike in 20 years. I'll be 45 next weekend and I can't believe how much finding a goal and working towards it has done for me. I am learning so much everyday, and I can't believe how much progress I've made. I really didn't have any idea that I could do this and it makes me feel great. And...my teenage son says I'm nicer when I'm training. What a great sport! Les

Member 48 Denver,CO | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed I am considering the Danskin in Denver. Not as exciting as Disney's but it will do. I think it is in June this year. I went to my beginner swimming class tonight. I have trouble breathing so this will be good. I would like to keep the challenge going. It really keeps me motivated with a stressful work week. My attitude stayed really good. I know it is to having a goal and going for it. Plus exercise works too. Sunday I will bike and get the rest of my swim in. We only did 100m meters tonight. So 200 yds more. Laura |

Veteran 144 Tampa, FL | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Finished my goals! They probably weren't as tough as ya'lls goals, but they were tough enough for me. I even exceeded my running goal by 22 minutes! Excited for next week and hoping I don't get sick or injured. Good luck to everyone else and feel better to the sick and injured! |

Veteran 174 | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Someone please save my sanity and help me fix my log. I actually love my log ... the display is great I can see my graphs, see the icon of what I did per day, etc. I logged in my run this morning and was looking at my graph... god knows what i clicked on and now when I hit my training log it doesn't display the info until I click on that day. For some reason the graph is only strength training, and I did try changing my privacy settings...that didn't work. Can you help... please?? :-) Elizabeth |

Master 2115 Dothan, Al | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Gots a 45 minute ride in today. I will have the same goals for next week as I did this week. Kind of a "do over." Do they give out Muligans in triathlons??? Edited by ditchdoc 2008-02-03 1:04 PM |

Master 1332 Vista, CA | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed I won't be getting my last swim in this week. My shoulder is just hurting and I'm bummed. So I'll get another bike in today instead. I'll not be in the challenge officially next week or until I can actually swim again, which I'm hoping is soon. Hope everyone has a good training week and we're all injury and virus free very soon. ~Lynn |

Veteran 174 | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Curious if anyone is joining me today in super bowl activities? I planned to get up and bike this morning...but it was overcasst, cold, and the super bowl fever has hit Phx. So... instead I am cooking up a storm as I have a houseful (what else is a greek girl to do on a day like this?) coming at 2pm. On a bright note... I did manage to go out dancing last night (hadn't done that in 10 yrs)... so that does count as a tad extra activity. Happy Sunday all! I was just shy of making my challenge... but I am ok with it because life feels grande. Elizabeth |

Member 48 Denver,CO | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed I got my 14 mile bike ride in then my 200yd swim. But that was it. I was not as exhausted as last week. I think I missed a swim in there somewhere. So next week I need to cut back. Dog training for a big show in 2 weeks so more dogs and less me training. swim-350 yds bike- 12 mile Run- 2 miles or 30 minutes each I probably will be able to get to the gym one time this week. So no multiples. Laura |

Veteran 122 | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed So this weekend started an off week for me. Unfortunately there has been a death in my family, and both my knees are acting up. I think I'm going to have to sit this challenge out for the week. I will do my best to keep up with the training, but with the funeral, physical therapy and whatever else i dont want to commit to anything this week. For all you in the challenge...keep up the amazing progress that has been made, and keep it fun!! Have a wonderful week everyone...i'll be in and out. ~Sarah |

Extreme Veteran 312 | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Teammates, I think I am back. I have been neglecting the challenges for the past week or so. I just needed to rest a bit and get my mind back in order. I have a million things racing thru my head, and cant seem to get myself motivated to train the way that I should be. I have been peeking in from time to time and keeping track of everyones training, and very proud of everyone. My hope is to be back in the challenge mood for next week. Curt |

Veteran 122 | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - Closed Thank you all so much for your sympathy and kind thoughts. I didn't realize how much this group/triathlete life style meant to me until now. It's really keeping me going this week. The funeral was today, as was services and memorial gatherings. There are several others this week, so having something to keep my life in motion really helps. Again, thank you all so much, and appreciate the lifestyle and people we all have surrounded ourselves with. ~ Sarah |
