No doubt this will be a challenging bike and run course. Interesting point IMWI total elevation gain on he bike will be 2890 ft in 112 miles. Rev3 WI will be 2452 ft in 56 miles. Will be fun, but tough recovery

Curious where those numbers come from? Both seem rather low, IMWI especially. IMWI has more ascending, but Rev3 Wi Dells has more per mile.

Numbers came from both the race site, so not sure where they got them either. I have ridden both of these courses/roads many times (from the area).

Either way lots of climbing on both courses.

Yes, there is. I saw ~6,380 on Rev3 by doing the loop twice, so estimating ~3,500 for one time around like we'll do in the race. I'll have to ride it again and get splits in the right spots for a better estimate. I've only ridden the loop once of IMWI, and saw ~2,200 there iirc (it was last year). Seems to be 5,000 or a little over for the whole thing from looking around. Mapmyride is ok for getting the profile for the larger climbs, but has really be off on the total ascending in my experience.

Just got a newsletter for this and it shows how awesome Rev3 is. Not long after they put up the course routes, I noticed how close the finish line was to The Plunge and suggested they end it there. Not exactly that, but see below:

Looking ahead to Rev3 Wisconsin Dells...the water capital of the world. Rev3 Wisconsin promises to be an exciting event for the entire family. From exciting theme parks to wet, wild water parks, Wisconsin Dells has something for everyone. In fact, in keeping with the water park theme, Rev3 will have a water slide inside the finish line chute...a fun way to cool off after the race!

Any idea on how well the corners are marked for those of us not riding w/GPS? I've managed to chisel out some time in early July to drive up and ride the course.  Thanks.

I *think* there were road signs for everything, though I didn't specifically look for every single one. It's Wisconsin, but you're not that far out of civilization. There isn't anything up specifically for the race yet.

Thanks brigby...I was hoping for some spray painted arrows, but I guess I'll just have to pay attention and study before I leave

If you find yourself riding on a flat road that means you have left the bike course. Wink  The course is actually pretty easy to follow with the only part I found that could cause some confusion is the ride through Baraboo.  When you know the date you are coming up post here and there might be a few people heading to the course that weekend.

Brigby - Do you have a strava map for this?  Your information has been great.  Still deciding on whether or not I want to do the half or olympic.  Worried about those hills!

Hopefully settings are right so you can see it. I did go around the loop twice to get a century ride out of it. Something was off that day, I seemed to be going slow for the power output, and it wasn't just the hills. The flats reflected this as well. Could be weather as it was only ~40F the whole ride with some wind.

The bike course looks like it has some nasty hills. Has anyone ridden it yet?

Was just checking out the schedule for the weekend and noticed a couple things. There is a "collegiate wave". What is that? It's slated right behind the Pro wave, but before the amateur.

The other thing is that this could be a time trial start for the rest of us. I've done a few of those before, but interesting to see it here.

I would. And am going to. Many lakes around here are at or over cut-off. And earlier, someone said this was a shallower lake, so it's likely to warm easily. It'll be easier to get used to a wetsuit if it turns out to be cool enough than the other way around.

Fired up to read race reports on this one and hope to add it next year.

About the only thing to add is that we were there a couple weeks ago, and the swim looks to be very calm, it is in a sheltered inlet that holds a waterski show.  With the added benefit of tons of seating on the swim portion.

Do any of the locals know if the transition area will be the Tommy Bartlett parking lot?  That's a long way from the water though.

They may have to rename this the Smurf 1/2 Rev. They just dyed our swim blue.

Anyone doing the "Little Rev" with their kids? I hope it's not too much 2 days before the race?

Does Rev3 always want bikes in the racks the night before? What do they do if it rains? I assume they will have good security. Any experiences?

I've done Knoxville & Quassy, and they all want the bikes in the night before. Check the rules, but I believe you can use smaller covers on the bikes for things like the seats and/or handlebars, but not necessarily full bike covers. I've never heard of a security issue at any of their races.

It looks like the online schedule has been updated as of today - just wondering when Rev3 tends to make an athlete guide and/or more information available?  Will there be a guide for this race?  Seems like some of their other events have not had a full-blown document.  I'm curious about the time trial swim start among other things.  Looking forward to the race, even if I'm a little nervous about those hills.....
