yes Ron, skiing I was skiing last winter when my knee started acting up and I just figured I had injured it skiing somehow. Maybe in the same fall when I separated my shoulder? Nope, not according to the MRI. It's arthritis. My doctor knows I ski and hasn't said not to, but I'll check with him about doing it in the middle of this treatment. Thank goodness he's an athlete as well. He knows how much it s*cks to be unable to do the stuff we love.

Milly, wish I had an idea for a new career for you. Then I'd have an idea for when I'm done teaching! LOL Of course I have to start first.....just planning ahead.

This is great! I just found this forum yesterday and am happy to see you guys share some of my other passions (wine, beer, espresso, etc). The following are my picks:

Espresso: Love it. Any Espresso in Italy. Americanos from Starbucks

Beer: Love it. Especially wheat beers. Hoegaarden, Aventinus, or Blue Moon from a grocery store. All with lemons rather than oranges

Wine: Love it. French- I agree with Mike, Fat Bastard is great. I also love any Chateau-neuf-du-Pape. For a great Spanish wine, try the Coto de Imaz, Rioja 97

Might just open a bottle right now

I almost forgot.

I love Carmel frappes. The girls at Starbucks hook me up with extra carmel and extra whip cream.

Sorry Ron, the only place to get good Italian Espresso is in Italy. Although I am a Starbucks junkie, Italian espresso definitely takes the prize. I don't know what it is....just as Italian Gelato is better than ice cream, and Swiss Chocolate is better than a Hershey's bar, Italian Espresso is better than Starbucks.

Next time I'm in Cleveland, I'll do a taste test in Little Italy to see if anything compares. ;-)

As this has turned into a food and drink thread I just have to add that there is nothing quite like a Kingfisher beer accompanied by a monster curry!! I love food from the subcontinent and the sooner it takes a grip here the better!!!!

Ron, the best place to buy espresso is to go to the Italian sector of town; every town or city has one. There is always a local Italian store or market which specializes in imported Italian foods and that is where I purchase my espresso along with olives and meats because it is much better than the local foodliner. I have been to Italy and the espresso I buy at home is exactly the same as the espresso I have had to drink there. The brand I purchase around here is called "Lavazza" and is quite good.
