Here in the North East it's pretty much Dunks unless you find something else, but chances are you'll drive by 3 Dunks before you can find anything else.  I have 14 mile commute to work, 11.5 of those miles on the highway and I still pass 3 Dunks on that 2.5 miles of back road just to get to/from the highway.  Then there are 2 within walking distance from my work, and I work about 30 miles north of Boston.  If you're in a city forget it.  When I travel though I love hitting up other local spots that aren't Dunks.

Dunkin Donuts coffee tastes like McD's coffee, which quite frankly is the fast food version of coffee.

Starbucks buys the best beans in the world and thus their coffee is the best.

However, I do prefer the greasy breakfast croissant at DD over anything Starbucks has for food.

Since their inception.  Read a long case study on Starbucks when I was in graduate school where I learned a lot about the success and failures of the company.  Quite informative.  They literally do buy the best beans in the world, unless the Harvard business case I read was making that up, which isn't likely.

How does one define ``best beans?''

Taste is subjective.

your snark isn't appreciated, i'm actually much brighter than i look.

i only ask because everything i have ever read states that because starbucks has to buy SO MUCH beans to meet their demand, and it's near impossible to have a consistent taste that way, they buy beans within a certain standard and it's their ROASTING process that makes the taste uniform.  which, to my taste, is too burnt/over-roasted, but that makes sense if consistency is the goal.

Taste is definitely subjective and that's why they have so many offerings to suite every palate.  I was only talking about quality of the product because surely everyone can find one they like from the awesome selection?  Man, are they paying me to speak so highly of them?  I am not affiliated with them in any way, other than loving their products

Tim Hortons almost a religion here in Canada, in fact the closest Fourbucks (because they are so overpriced) is 350km's south.

funny story though, sitting at a Toronto Blue Jays game overheard some people speaking with accents, I think New Zealand but possibly Australian. One of them had just arrived in Canada and his friend was explaining a few things. Someone walked by with a cup of Tim Hortons and the friend said

"that's what everyone drinks here"
"is it any good?” asked the newcomer,
"not bad, they drink it with two cream and two sugars" his friend replied

*this is true, its called a 'Double Double' and anyone in Canada will know what you mean when you ask for one*

his newly arrived friend quickly replied,
"anything would taste good with two cream and two sugars!"

and that is so true with the amount of sugar and cream we put in coffee they are more like a caffeinated milkshake!
