I managed 5 vegeatarian days again, but still wasn't able to pull off a complete vegan day. Dang cheese :-) One of my meat eating days just sort of happened. Oh well, off to a good start on another week.

This challenge has been very good for my awareness.

Debbie

The cheese has haunted me all week, I usually buy a bag of cheese stix to add to the snack bag for the family for races and I end up eating most of it!!! Today was supposed to be my vegan day and I was already eating my breakfast omelette when I realized it was my recovery day!!!! DUH!!!                          http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=248137&posts=6&start=1    Link to my RR................Cancelled the swim the day before due to it raining and the threat of E. coli contaminating the lake!!!! Made us run 3 miles instead of swimming 1.2...

Too bad about the swim. Great report though! Good job pushing through.

I'm seeing a pattern here with cheese... I was reading that cheese has addictive qualities similar to opiates. I don't know if it's true, but it sure felt true when I gave up dairy at the start of the challenge. I didn't care about icecream, milk, or yogurt - I needed CHEESE!

I bought rice cheese the other day and it took care of my cravings for real cheese.  Same texture as mozzarella and was great on crackers and in my salad.  It's more expensive and comes in a smaller size so I eat less too :-)

I agree with Todd, I've never felt better!  Need to put in my points one of these days.  I've had 2 vegan days and the rest vegetarian, other than the 1st day of the challenge.

I had a horrible week! I so believe the cheese addiction. My name is Debbie, and I am an addict! Also I have just been weak this week. I have had animal protein everyday, but just once each day.

It is recommitment time for me!

Awsome! Good for you!!

I kind of fell apart once I stopped the vegan thing at the end of the first week, but it was still a good experience. Plus, i'm glad that everyone else is benefiting from the experience too!

Try making a short term goal for the final week and see how you do. I too am addicted to cheese... that's where all my vegan points have gone...

I was already eating my breakfast omelette last Friday before I realized it was supposed to be my vegan day!!! Made thru all day today, tho.....I know, today is on next weeks....Today seemed much easier than the last time I had a vegan day, tho....I kinda knew what I was getting into I guess, and I was alot busier today, kinda kept my mind off it. Has anyone discovered something new that otherwise, you might not have tried it??? I have noticed, my vegetable horizons have broadened a bit....

I have been trying a lot of new recipes this month, many good and a few... I gave them away at work.

Just checking in to see how you all are doing on this challenge.  I've been vegetarian for most of my life and can't imagine not.  I've never gone vegan as I do love my cheese.  Hope that you all have found lots of new recipes.  Hubby and I have collected quite a collection of cookbooks and love to try out different recipes when we have the time.

Going for the 11 point final week! Vegan tomorow, I'm gonna have to make myself a note not to make my omelette right when I get up......I have to admit, I can be very disciplined but vegan daze can test the strong! And..... I have gone over a week with NO CHEESE!!!! I told my wife not to buy it or I will eat it and she can take or leave cheese, I'm the addict! But, I'm not quitting it for good but am trying to remove it as a staple...

That's a good idea (removing cheese as a staple). I can't believe how frequently I eat cheese!

Well, I pulled off the 11 point final week, seemed easier to pull off the vegan day when I was off work than when I'm working. Wierd. Still has been 9 daze off cheese. Have a race next Saturday, probably have some cheese after the race, post race meal wherever we stop to eat. Is anyone down to try this again for May???

Way to go, you kicked butt this month!!

For anyone else who wants to do this challenge again in May I will post a fresh thread and spreadsheet, but I won't be playing because I'm away for a week in Costa Rica. I'll peek in over the month.

See you you can beat this months points Todd!
