Hi Gang! October is a run month for me. My plan calls for 135 miles (need to recount once more to confirm) which includes the Marine Corps Marathon.  I can't do a pull-up to save my life, but I think the 2nd goal will be some type of core work. Maybe planks.

I signed up in the sheet -
First goal - get to running more than 1 day a week otherwise the 1/2 Mary is going to HURT in November. Goal is 85 miles. Plan calls for a total of 90.5 but I gave myself a 5 mile break just in case the legs don't like that.

Second goal - following the great idea of something different with the pullups. I am going to do pushups and lunges. The legs might look 1/2 way decent after a month of running and lunges.

775 of each - 25 each per day. That is do able even if I miss a day.

I got my goals on the spreadsheet but I may make 1 minor change. I entered 101 miles running and 100 push ups. I should change that to 101 push ups so satisfy my OCD.

I need a challenge this month as I'm 6 weeks out from my next HIM and the bike and run are down, so have set them as my goal for the month, 500kms and 160 kms respectively.

I am going with run and strength training. I guess I have 1 day to figure out some totals and get them on the spreadsheet.

Count me in, please!  I'm officially in my "offseason" after finishing the Syracuse 70.3 a couple weeks ago.  I've been a sloth ever since then and I'm ready to get back into the gym.  My focus will be on bike and run.  Looking forward to getting my arse in gear again!

wgraves7582 - 2010-09-29 9:35 AM Well I am going to give props to whoever put the pullups in because I am more excited for this challenge than I have been in a long time.

It got real boring (for me and don't take it personal) saying oh I will run/ride/swim this many times this month or this many miles.

I need to challenge the body and the commuting (mental) and push/pull ups will do it.  ETA - I just wish I could show more pushups because I want to do 300 pullups and 900 push ups this month.  I guess I could just go with 1200 total and track both

I was going to try for 100 push ups, but now I see you want to do 900 I think I'll have to come up with something else.

It is only 30 a day.  I usually do 2 sets of 15 while stretching at night out of boredom.  This will make sure I stretch more regularly and would like to hit 30 straight - which I could do if I forced myself to but usually just stop at 15 and rest and stretch some more.

For a girl who has broken more bones in my upper body than I can count, and has permanent nerve damage throughout her body, I think 100 is a good number to shoot for. I really like the idea of doing something different this month.

Go for it - you only have to challenge yourself not me.  I hate them so it will help me!

Good morning, William!

Yeah, Bill!!  I've been a little less than motivated lately myself...  It's good to "see" you again!

I will put in goals as soon as I can... Google spreadsheets are blocked here at work, so I'll do it when I can... probably a good idea to figure out what they are first!

So, I updated my run miles to only shoot for 25 run miles this month.  Looking at what a slacker I was last month, and how prone I am to foot issues I decided this was a little more realistic for me.  Also, I kept my Strength just in sessions - nothing cool like pullups, etc - but I will say that in order for me to count the session I need to do some Core work AND arms work.

OK, now I'm ready to go!!!

Rhoda,

Pullups are pure evil - not cool

Well, I think it sounds cool to say that you can do even one pullup.  I can not, and therefore I guess I need to work on my coolness factor...Embarassed

Actually, I don't think I have really even tried since the spring when I tried one after helping the kids on the monkey bars...  I'm glad the kids were too young to realize that their dorky mom was failing miserably!  Maybe that's what I'll do to make work interesting today.  I'll go down to the gym in the basement and try a pullup.

I added my stuff this a.m.  My work schedule (and desire to sleep) has been messing with me lately.  I am shooting for 55 biked and 45 run.  I'm going to try that pullup pushup thing too, but have no goals regarding it.  I really need to work on core - I am just short on time.  G'luck peeps!

I'm on the spreadsheet.  I was able to access it via my Droid (LOVE that thing!).  One minor issue... all the spots on the "non-Ghoulie" team were taken up while there were many slots still available in the Ghoulies.

So, Bill... you can either make me an honorable Ghoulie this month, or you can move me down to the other team.  And, although it's not part of my official goals, I'm going to try and do some pullups and see just how out of shape I am from a strength perspective.

Bill, all you have to do to be a Ghoulie is pay the alcohol tax. Put your name anywhere that makes you happy.

That might be a hefty tax bill... I swim, bike and run so I can eat, drink and drink. Innocent

I'm up, I'm spreadsheeted, I'm in.

The goals had to be flexible--I'm still recovering from a very nasty (unidentified) tropical infection. I put in 15 bike sessions, 10 running. That way they can be short and light if need be, or if I'm ready to head back into regular training, they'll be whoppers.

One way or another, it means biking every other day, running (may be walking or wralking) every third. It will be a challenge.

The alcohol tax is actually a contribution to the Ghoulie beverage supplies so that we don't run out. We like margaritas, mojitos, beer, wine and something called Fat Frogs. Sounds like you're a Ghoulie to me. Cool

I'm in too! I really need a push to get back in the pool in time for tri season so 9 swim sessions and 130km running it is
The running should be ok if I stick with it but I hate swimming so hopefully this will be the motivation I need.
