Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() gamblin - 2008-06-03 11:04 AM Food choices are the most important thing for me....my meals yesterday: Breakfast-Protein shake (Strawberry, pineapple and coconut---sounds gross but actually pretty tasty) Lunch-3 bottles of water. Supper-3 bites of peas, 3 bites of lean steak and 12 tortilla chips. Over the course of the day 12 bottles (16.9 oz) of delious water. whoa, how big are your bites? That doesn't sound like it could be nearly enough calories. you don't want your body to go into starvation mode. what is your protein shake recipe? my basic is 1 c. frozen berries-1 c. 2% milk-splenda-1 scoop whey powder, but i'd love to branch out. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Normal size bites...I try to keep under 1000 calories a day and I was not sure how mom made the peas (I have seen her puts lots of butter in them before) Today's shake is German Chocolate Cake. I cheated yesterday and today and just got the shakes at the gym on my way out the door. |

Since you do not log, I have no idea how active you are, but you need more food. You are starving yourself and that is bad on so many different levels. Your body will not give up any weight if it thinks it is starving. That is a leftover from our caveman days when famine was a possibility. If you are working out regularly, your body needs the fuel. I'm not a Dr. or a nutritionist, but this is basic stuff. This is from a calorie calculator I found on the internet So me, a 5'5" woman needs 2394 a day to maintain, 1915 to lose and extreme loss 1436. Please eat more. Make healthy choices but, as a guess not knowing your height you probably need at least 2000 healthy calories a day Rant off Edited by dodgersmom 2008-06-03 10:55 AM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() gamblin - 2008-06-03 12:25 PM I am actually fasting with a friend who is going through the same surgery I had done....so my food intake for the next 9 days will be very limited. I'm a big fan of "The Biggest Loser" and Jillian (the trainer on the show) said you never want to eat less than 1200 calories a day. I believe I heard her (or someone else on the show) say that many overweight people are that way BECAUSE they starve themselves. I am living proof of that comment. I have been working out like crazy since 2002 and as a 5'6" women with a small frame I have never weighed less than 194 lbs. I have trained for 4 marathons (ran 3), exercised for at least 1/2 hour 4-5 x/week (but probably average more than 1/2 hour routinely), lift weights, do high intensity interval training, core training, and was even doing Tae Kwon Do combined with marathon training for about a year (on and off). When I realized I was routinely eating 1300-1400 cals/day I found out I wasn't getting enough calories to lose weight. I know it sounds crazy but when I eat around 1500-1600 cals/day (and that might still be too low) I seem to lose weight. I understand fasting from a Biblical perspective and fully support you for those reasons. However, I'm not sure of any other reason to eat less than 1200 cals/day. At least try to have that much. You can still fast without it being a non-eat day. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everyone - I was peeking through some of your training logs and ran across a quote on Ron's training log: "Core Challenge workout #1: 50 pushups (10 sets of 5 ) and 2:00 total planks." I know Ron wasn't thinking about this when he wrote it but I think I'm going to take him up on this challenge. Anyone else want to join in (btw, I'm assuming that is two MINUTES of total planks not two HOURS)? |

Look at my long-term goals area in my blog. I have to do each of those six workouts once per week for all of June (24 total). One day off per week. I (you) can do them in any order during the week. They don't have to be one "sitting", you can spread them out through the whole day. Them's the rules. Let me know if anyone else is up for it. Right now it's just 6-7 of us and it's not an official BT challenge, but nothing's stopping you. I can send a link to exercise descriptions if you need them. and yes, it's 2 minutes total planks, broken up however you'd like. although, 2 hours may have been easier than those pushups last night. Ron.

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() not having a great day today. Not so muh eating wise, just in general. Work pretty much sucks right now. I have done this carb limiting thing before, and it is always around this point where I get cranky. I guess it is a craving for sugar and carbs. I am getting tired of meat. We did pave whole wheat pizza for dinner last night, and that was good. The scale was nt kind to me thins morning, but that is not a concern since I know i did not drink enugh water yesterday. I do belive that my clothes are fitting better, even after 2 weeks.

I love the 94% FF popcorn when I feel I really need salty type of stuff. Or fat free Jello pudding cups help me through the sweet things. Actually the fat free pudding that you mix at home is really good and you can put some fat free cool whip on it. not having a great day today. Not so muh eating wise, just in general. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I feel ya about the carbs. About 4 or 5 days into a lower carb cycle I really start playing mind games with myself because my subconscious is HATING me for not eating the junk stuff like pizza, nachos, etc. I usually trick my mind by eating some fat free jello with a LOT of fat free coolwhip. It satisfies my sweet tooth as well as tricks my mind. |
