Artemis - 2009-07-15 9:19 AM Not much. Vandevelde crashed this morning, officials held the race because it sounds like a fan caused it. Lance had mechanical problems, he caught up.  Other than that, not much.

You are not going to get her caught up on the history lesson

Cat - you don't wake up for the flat stages huh?  Time to bring the Alps into play.  These flat stages are 2 minutes of excitement for 4-5 hours of coverage!

haha I watch EVERY stage if I can... but I was out tonight anda little late getting home!

Your British friends are going to be a little jealous if they see that

Nah they will just ask more questions!

And then probably give me a hard time...

She's a brazen hussy who needs her backside smacking. I tell her & tell her, until I'm BLUE in the face, not to stay out late but will she listen to me. One of these day's she'll settle down with a nice quiet fellow, watching the cycling, whilst feeding her little cherubs doing what all nice ladies do. Instead she's out all hours, doing God knows what with God knows who. Consider yourself told off young Lady. It'll be boot-camp for you next

Seriously... find me that guy and  will settle down tomorrow...

But I DONT meet guys... at least not nice ones... so Im a woman without options!

I know our domestic Premier Calendar cycling races are much shorter but when I watch the highlights programme, riders are always attacking. This is one thing I have never understood with these races. Attacks come at the beginning of the stage, a few riders get away, the peloton slows down, the breakaway gets a gap which the peloton decides to chase down after the feed station. Is it just the distance of the Stages & how many there are that stop intermediate breaks from forming? Once the peloton gets up speed there's not much chance of getting away but before, surely it's worth it?

Between all the competitions, GC placements, and need to protect the protected riders and do domestique work, sprinters, climbers looking to save energy for the mountains....and young rider competition, I think there is a pretty small pool of riders that can AND would be allowed to escape in the first place.

Someone/team needs to do something to stop Cav from winning. Haven't they twigged yet that no-one can get near him. Let's all keep together & see who can get second. Duh! Come on guys, do something constructive.

At least there's some scenery to look at. Should try watching a flat Stage during La Vuelta. Now that IS depressing.

The scientific name of sunflowers is Helianthus, Helia for sun and Anthus for flower.

At least someone's got some action.

The sunflower is native to North America and was used by the Indians for food and oil. Some farmers use it to feed their livestock.

So instead of going to France...I should go to North Dakota???

Yeah, during the winter!!!  My first trip up there it was -50 degrees fahrenheit (-45.5555 C) I had left Florida where it was 85 degrees fahrenheit (29.4444 C). A swing of 135 degrees (only 74.9999 degrees C).

See now, I did not know that.  Oh and I agree about the flats on the Vuelta.  That's painful.  "Look, another spanish desert scene."

Giro is really pretty scenery too.

Got to be a pretty adventurous snail to climb one of those.

Here's a serious question. My runner beans grow anticlockwise up my bamboo poles. Take it they grow clockwise down there? Or is it something to do with following the sun? Hmmm! I need to ponder on that. Any ideas whilst this BORING race is on? Don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight without knowing the answer. Suppose I could always replay this Stage at bedtime.

I think the vines grow wherever the sun is located and in the direction you want them to grow.  Why don't you watch them and tell us how that's going because this stage is pretty lou-zzzzzzzzzz

P&P love these stages because it sets up a fantastic sprint finish - paraphrase from an earlier conversation!

Who does the broadcasts in England and Australia?

Let's talk about Cavendish.

Did anyone else think he was really a lot more humble yesterday in his post-race?

Also, does he sound normal to Brits or do people from the Isle of Man have a strange dialect?
